When I first achieved 124615 in 52 levels on January 09, 2006, I could have easily continued but family life stop me so I had to submit my current score, of which is hidden you cannot tell you progress.

For a lot of people here the 80's were their high school years (me included).  I think that tends to be the time when you start to form opinions on music, films, etc and that's why the attachment forms.
That's why I'm so attached to the previous decade. good answer A+  :)

Using the Fit-To-Window preference in Firefox:

Argentina
Australia
Belgium
Canada
China
Fiji
Finland
France
Germany
India
Indonesia
Ireland
Italy
Japan
Netherlands
New Zealand
Norway
South Africa
Spain
UK
USA

...more than I thought I knew!

Others look familiar, but can't put a name to.

like to see a few newer ones.

Debating whether or not I should even attempt to sleep tonight. Went to bed about half an hour ago, and the very second I put my head on the pillow, a gang of about 16 chavs collected at the bottom of the street. Worse, they're all drunk so they're shouting and laughing loudly and basically just being pains in the arse. Sigh.....

rerun "Keeping Up Appearances"  "Are You Being Served"  and "As Time Goes By". They have been showing
them over and over for a couple of years.  They have just  begun "New Tricks" which is good. They had
"One Foot in the Grave"  and the "The Vicar of Dibley".  I kept hoping they would have "Absolutely Fabulous"
which I have heard about, but haven't....yet.  I don't have cable so I may not get a chance for "Father Ted".

They are different. Wal-Mart is the biggest company in the world and they got there by unfair labor practices. They have most of their goods manufactured in China by people who they pay something like 50 cents-a dollar a week (don't know the actual amount but I'm sure my figures are not that far off). They don't allow their workers in this country to form unions so they work for miminum wage and working conditions are awful. There are so many lawsuits out against them because of their labor practices. I have even heard that they have taken out life insurence policies on some of their workers. And that is just the tip of the iceberg of some of the s**t they do.

It is ok to shop at Woolworths-it is not ok to shop at Wal-Mart.

Sounds just like Woolworths, I know someone who use to work there and I will be asking questions.

Subject: Re: Longest Thread Ever

Written By: La Roche on 01/29/06 at 3:25 pm

The average working wage at a Wal-Mart store across the country is around 20% lower than the average wage at a comparable company such as Target.

Wal-Mart will open up stores in small to mid-size towns and slash their prices to such a low level that all other stores in the town will be forced to either match those prices or close thus destroying local business.

One of Wal-Mart's main policy's is their "Made in America" Bullshi..t. It's been revelead on many occasions that a large quantity of merchandise supposedly Made in America has in fact been made abroad and then just had a 'Made in America' label stuck on it. This of course takes money out of the Economy.

Roughly 15% of the Trade Defecit can be directly attributed to Wal-Mart.

They have a staunch Anti-Union policy. With upper management doing everything possible to discourage workers from joining or forming unions.

Wal-Mart is renowned for giving almost no benefits (such as Healthcare & Childcare) to it's employees. Who picks up the bill for this lack of care, why, the Taxpayer of course.
Just for an example, in Georgia (not exactly a state with a high population) State healthcare for children of Wal-Mart employees has cost Taxpayers in the state more than $10,000,000 a year. That's around Seven Million Pounds.

As you can see.. a strategic bombing of all Wal-Mart locations would have a serious impact on the state of the nation. A positive impact.

Come on people, if you want cheap products, just go to Target. You might pay 10% more on your bill and the merchandise you'll purchase will be considerably better. It's the patriotic thing to do  ;)

Oh and as Cat mentioned. Wal-Mart do in fact take out life insurance policys in their employees (dead Peasents insurance) claiming the money from these policys and not helping the familys of the employees.

Sounds just like Woolworths, I know someone who use to work there and I will be asking questions.

You seem to be right. I did a (very) quick google search and found that Woolworths has been involved in some unfair labor disbutes. Some as resent as '98 (but again, it was just a quick search).

As far as i'm aware K-Mart at least treat employees like humans. I myself wouldn't want to work there, but then again, i wouldn't particularly want to work at Target either.

I go to Target myself (even though K-Mart is closer) because they offer products that i consider to be of a good standard.
For those who haven't actually been to a Target..

You can actually go in to a Target and purchase.. for instance a coffee table that you would actually want to have in your living room, or pants that wont fall to pieces.
Go to Wal-Mart, sure, you can buy a coffee table for $50.. it'll be a piece of crap.

They're all similar in the way that they offer a broad range of products at an affordable price, but ya know, as i've said, Target do actually sell products of a decent quality and still manage to be affordable.

I do like Target (or should I say Tar Jay  ;) ) but they don't have one around here. I have lived in other areas of the country so that is why I familar with it. If they do put in a Target, I would go there. They used to have Ames but they went out of business-too bad. Ames was pretty good. But you are right-the are all about the same in terms of what you can get.

We have a little store here called Ben Franklin. They are known for selling craft stuff but you can get a lot of other stuff-some clothes, toys, etc. The only thing they don't have is furniture (even though I did get a card table there once)-but they do have lamps and some home furnishings (i.e. towels, sheets, pillows, etc.)  They don't have a lot of selection of each item but it is a nice little store-and it is right across the street from me. In fact, as I sit here right now, I can look out the window and see their parking lot (I would have to change my view to see the actual store).  I usually go to Ben Franklin more times than not because it is convenient and also, I get good service and I am helping my neighbors, because it is locally owned.

There were Ben Franklin Nickle n' Dime stores here in the 60's and 70's.

I make sure that everyone does their job and if they don't, then I do what it takes to get them to do it. once it's done, and the outside installer has wired it into the companys telco room, I get to test it and make sure it works and is ready for customer. If there's a problem, I have to isolate where and get if fixed or changed. It's cool, I can work with my headphones on and listen to rock, unless i get a phone call.  I work for SBC, but I think we're now called AT&T again.  ;D

It is cool and I'm grateful to have my job, I was a service rep earlier in my career and that got nightmarish, stressful, this job I've been on for the last 5years is like the promised land. It's funny because many times people have come up to me and I don't hear them talking to me, then I have to pause or mute the music. I'm sure at first they think I'm just being rude and ignoring them  ;D

SBC is in 13 states, now with aquisition of AT&T we're global, and things can change quickly in reorganization of the combined company. They're not planning to leave those states. SBC bought AT&T but we're gonna use the at&t name because it's known globally while sbc is just 13 states in the US.  I do interact on occasion with the reps in Texas.  it's such a small world. crazymom  :)
