what are my chances of claiming for a new garage door remote control on the insurance when it was my sons fault it no longer works?

We inherited the control when we bought the house and the unit was a bit broken, enough for the switches to be visible.  The switches set the signal the unit sends to the motor controller.  Anyway for some reason we never got round to writing down the setting of these switches and now my 3 year old has moved them all!  There are 12 switches so it will take us a long time sitting there trying out all the possible combinations.

It took me a couple of days to realise why it wasn't working.  I just thought the battery had gone so I got a replacement yesterday but it still didn't work.  Then I looked at the unit and realised all the switches were up instead of it being some random up and down.  Little bleeder!

Anyway has anyone ever been succesful in claiming insurance for this sort of thing?

I would think your company would fix it for you in good faith, Karen. I have a problem with my DVD recorder and took it back and they fixed it in good faith - it's not unusual, especially with the big companies.  :)

When we last looked at replacing the remote, about 4 years ago, we were told a whole new system would have to be installed because the transmitters have changed.  From infra-red to radio I think (or it could be the other way round)

I had an awesome argument the other day.. I was very proud of myself.

This guy was mouthing off in the town centre about why we should throw all the Albanians, Kosovans and Poles out of the country. I waited for him to finish his little tirade and then walked up to him and questioned him.

I said to him..

'I have no idea what the Albanians and Kosovans are like but every Pole i have ever met has been a kind, generous and good individual, why are you saying these things?'

He came back with a fairly blunt remark about them being stupid and taking jobs that English workers could have.

I then pointed out that not only do they end up doing the jobs that we wouldn't do because of the blind prejudice of idiots like him, but they do them a darn sight better than he could.

It got really heated.. and he refused to talk to me anymore.

This has happened a bunch of times before. The 'British National Socialist Party'  ::) held a little rally and i spoke to one of the guys at there little propoganda table.. and to be honest he was very friendly.. I asked him to explain his views, and although outdated and stupid he conveyed them in a way that would suck the gullible in. Anywho one of the other people there then came along and chewed me out.. Phhhsha Idiots.

ANOTHER! Time it happened was when some Palestinian supporters had set up a big table outside of Marks & Spencers (a Jewish run chain of shops in the U.K) and were reeling off the normal 'Israel is a terrorist state bullcrap' so i spoke to them. They were just rude, plain rude, didn't even begin to speak just chewed me out.. which led me to belive they had no real points.
I actually e-mailed the Israeli embassy in London after this, asking if they had ever spoken to these people.. they agreed with me and said that these idiots just want trouble.

I Just hate them.

They're rude, unhelpfull and will only give me so much money when i want it.
