Someone phoned our local radio this morning to complain that the hadn't mentioned that it was the anniversary today. They insisted that the dj play an Elvis song to make up for it. He chose 'Return to Sender' because "that's what happened to him, if you're at all religious"

So do I...I think the ever-so respectful headline in The Sun read 'Fat And Forty'...
Didn't really have much of a clue who he was at the time, but I soon made up for it...

I remember my friend saying that her older cousins were in tears because he'd died and I couldn't understand why. In my mind he was fat and forty. Most of the recent footage of him shown was him in that white jump suit with the scarves draped round his neck that he handed out to the audience. Who could see the attraction in that?

Something I could never quite understand...
It's generally accepted that his 'Vegas' period (1970 'til his death) was the absolute nadir of the man (rhinestone suit, sideburns that could stop a bus, etc.), but nearly every Elvis impersonator dresses up like him from that period...!
Anyway, I'm sure I saw him in Sainsbury's last weekend!

The motel-hopping monsignor accused of having an affair with his married church secretary resigned in disgrace yesterday as rector of St. Patrick's Cathedral.
But Msgr. Eugene Clark didn't admit to an affair with Laura DeFilippo - even after a videotape showed them checking into a Hamptons motel.

A high school in Kentucky, I think.
That's where those couple of teenage boys shot several students, then killed themselves. At first politicians and the media where blaming first person shooter video games like "Doom" and "Wolfenstein"(neither which I have played). It turned out that the boys were severely bullied and just snapped. Not a good thing to bring up(The media kept the part about them being bullied quiet for awhile, it shows how much more they're willing to defend the popular crowd than the misfits, I know that part sounded stupid).

The children's story that I wrote (and still have yet to rewrite before seeing a publisher), I mentioned Peter Pan and sought out about royalties and that is how I found the Great Ormond Street Hospital. They sent me a nice e-mail answering my question. They told me to contact them again once I had a book deal-but at the rate I am going, that may be at least 10 years from now. :D They were seeking an author to write a sequal. I think they found one if I remember correctly.

My bad, I didn't notice that you edited your post(in response to my posting between two sites).
This site is the site I have the most post on(600+).
The site with second most is gamefaqs(I think it's the second highest as they don't keep tally of your total posts, I think I might have posted over 250 times, But it could be just 90 times with 2 posts deleted).
At livenirvana I have over 200 posts(not alot going on there these days).
At flyingomelette I think I have about 15-20 posts maybe(it took me over an half hour to get one post up a couple of times, the ezboard hates me, I think).
The gamefaqs deletes happened recently over the word shizzle and me using the f-word like this f***.
I even asked here what shizzle meant, because of that situation.

Informal Sport in the Park
Most pitch-based sports activity tends to take place on the southern section of the Park between Rotten Row and South Carriage Drive. This area, known as 'The Sports Field' is used extensively for informal games of football, touch rugby, cricket, softball, rounders and frisbee.

Rounders Rules Simplified (abridged version)
Teams
1. Games shall be played between 2 teams.
2. A team consisting of a maximum of 15 players and a minimum of 6 of whom no more than 9 may be on the field at one time.
Batter
1. Wait in the backward area well away from 4th Post.
2. If out, wait in the backward area well away from 1st Post.
3. You will have one good ball bowled to you.
No Ball if:
1. Not smooth underarm action.
2. Ball is above head or below knee.
3. Ball bounces on way to you.
4. Is wide or straight at body.
5. The bowler's foot is outside the square during the bowling action.
You can take a normal run on a no ball, but once you reach 1st Post you cannot return. You score in the normal way.
Scoring
1 rounder if 4th Post reached and touched before next ball is bowled.
1 rounder if 4th Post reached on no ball (you cannot be caught out).
1/2 rounder if 4th Post reached without hitting the ball.
1/2 rounder if 2nd Post reached after hitting the ball (you stay at 1st whilst ball is in the backward area).
Penalty 1/2 rounder for an obstruction by a fielder.
Penalty 1/2 rounder for 2 consecutive no balls (to the same batter).
1 rounder for a backward hit if 4th Post reached (you stay at 1st whilst ball is in the backward area).
Click here for a score sheet
Out When
1. Caught.
2. Foot over front/back line of batting square before missing or hitting a good ball.
3. Running inside Post (unless obstructed).
4. The Post you are running to is stumped.
5. You lose contact with the post during bowler's action when he has possession in his square.
6. You overtake.
7. You obstruct (you have right of way on track only).
Running Around The Track - Please Carry The Bat
1. If you stop at a post you must keep contact with the Post, hand or bat.
If you do not, the fielding side can stump the following Post to put you out.
2. You can run on to a post even if it has been previously stumped.
(You do not score if you do it on 4th Post).
3. When the bowler has the ball in his square, you cannot move on, but if you are between Posts, you can carry on to the next.
4. You cannot have two batters at a Post. The umpire will ask the first to run on when second one makes contact.
5. At a Post, you do not have to move on for every ball bowled.
6. You can move on as soon as the ball leaves the bowler's hand, this includes no balls.
7. You must touch 4th Post on getting home.

At least one child will throw a temper tantrum when they are out
At least one person will get hit with the ball somewhere painful. Everyone else must laugh hysterically at this.
when played in the park you must inspect the ground first and remove all piles of dog muck. Despite doing this someone will slide dramatically into 4th base and land in some.

when played in the park you must inspect the ground first and remove all piles of dog muck. Despite doing this someone will slide dramatically into 4th base and land in some.
He-he!
I was considering adding in sledging from the bowler and the back-stop.

comprehensive set of rules there Philip. But you forgot one or two.
At least one child will throw a temper tantrum when they are out
At least one person will get hit with the ball somewhere painful. Everyone else must laugh hysterically at this.

I think it is high time we had are own rules for Rounders.

It's high time we made new rules for cricket as well considering we can't beat Australia. ;D

I used to get a bit anal about sorting out the rules for rounders before we played. This was because at primary school there seemed to be two versions and I swear one team played to one set of the rules when they were batting and to the other when we were. In particular (you can tell the memory still afflicts me can't you) the rule on running if the ball is hit behind. One girl in the team I played on had a tremendous back hit and could always get a rounder on it. Therefore when we were in you could only run to first base if you hit it behind you. However the other team (who usually batted first) would always have at least one rounder by that method.
I can't believe that I'm still bitter about soemthing that happened nearly 30 years ago but there you are!

Too true, an extension to the overs played may help?
