Thanks for reminding me.  This year I have the stockings so I have to get lots of little things(ends up costing more than if I got just one gift). I like to find unusual little things to throw in.  I actually like doing this part.  :)

Way cool. Haven't been to a midnight showing in DECADES!!! Last night I started watching Shock Treatment (never seen it before). It was interrupted so I will watch the rest of it later. So far, I'm not too impressed with it but I do like the music-but of course it is Richard O'Brian.

As for us, we MAY (or may not) go to an auction tonight. Haven't decided yet.

Well, I dunno I am considering one other thing:

My older brother tried to warn me bout STDs before right? Well I'll tell him I'm planning on getting a prossy within the next couple of months.

Considering he was concerned about me before, he'll probably protest and say I shouldn't do it because of STDs and blah, blah, blah and I'll say "I don't care- I want this so bad I am willing to take that risk- unless of course you can hook me up with a cute girl say..before my birthday?"

Its worth a shot.

12 year olds f*cking is disgusting.  They could be f*cking other 12 year olds....they could be f*cking someone who's older.  Children should not be partaking in adult activities and there's no way a 12 year old isn't a child.

Puberty has nothing to do with it.  A girl may get her first period at 11.....she hits puberty.  Doesn't mean it's okay for her to f*ck and potentially get knocked up.

I don't see how its "disgusting" it they aren't pre-pubescent. Going with your line of thinking you'd have to find a 17-year-old f*cking just as disgusting because they're underage and not an adult as well.

And the girl wasn't 12, she was 15. Also I'd like to point out it was about a month before his 13th birthday, and my b-day is in January so had it been me I would have been in Junior high at the time. I can see how you'd think it was screwed up if it was an elementary kid but junior high?

A 17 year old is waaaaaay different than a 12 year old and you know it.  17 year olds have sex and that's a fact of life, but a 12 year old?  You can prevent that sh*t.  I didn't say the girl was 12.....I was merely presenting two scenarios; a girl his age, a girl not his age.  I just don't think CHILDREN should be f*cking.

You're talking like its unnatural. Not if he had hit puberty at that time, which I'm sure he had. I remember when I was 12 right after I'd hit puberty, and I certainly had sexual urges back in the day.

I don't find it disgusting, but it is wrong. Most 12 year olds haven't had the right education and warnings about precautions, and about the long-term consequences, like being emotionally attached.

You think it's perfectly okay for 12 year olds to f*ck?  I hope you have a 12 year old daughter who f*cks every boy in her school.  We'll see how you feel about it then.

It's not only about STD's, Alex. Remember that yer only supposed to have sex with people you actually love, it's kind of like a cat and its territory. Once you have sex, you're emotionally attached, and you're probably never even going to SEE this girl again.

So you probably think women can't have "no strings attached" sex.....you know, just sex for sex's sake.  The two genders can't inhabit qualities of the other in any meaningful way.

Interesting.

Well...over the years I've had a really bad habit of procrastinating. If I stay up verrrry late the night before it's due, then I lose sleep and feel tired when I go into class the next day.

I won't work on it now, because it's now 12:30 in the morning in California, so I must go to sleep.

besides f*ckng up Julie's Ipod files and losing all 500 of her songs, I had one of my poker buddies come by to pick up some stuff he left, and  since we had the table, the chips and the cards still out, we played a quick game of Texas Hold Em for fun, no money and Lady Di kicked our butts  >:( . I've been reading up on what i need to do to restore all her songs and my only hope is our old computer, hopefully the songs are there, then i will first put them on a backup memory stick/pen drive, then try to get them back on her Ipod. I sure hope it works or I'm gonna owe her an expensive Itunes gift card to replace her songs.

That's a pain in the butt.  When I transferred all of my songs to my new computer, I killed them 3 times before I finally got it right ::)  You can actually use the ipod as a hard drive and transfer them that way.  When I tried to do it with a flash drive, it wasn't transferring all the song info so I ended up with 600+ "Track 01, Track 02, etc" :o

thanks for the tips. i found the steps for using Ipod as a hard drive to move music on the users guide and that's probably the method i will use, but I'm gonna put everything on a flash drive first as a backup, then I'll follow the hard disk technique. i read other users on a forum that said that worked for them

Whatever, still unfair.

And its not that weird, I mean my god its not as if he was pre-pubescent. I certainly wasn't at that age.

Right there, saying it's unfair tells me you are not ready for anything of that calibur. And if you're going to do it that way, you will not feel satisifed. You'll want more, but you'll only have a prostitute to turn to for it. And that will be a shame (unless you met a nice girl who you got to know and let things progress naturally).

I hardly even wanted such a thing at 13, let alone even 16. I knew I wasn't ready. And yes, the feelings were there, but I knew mentally, I needed more time, so I set those urges aside.

You're young still. I'm still young at 24 (ask anyone over 24  ;D )

No, On-Demand is a service Comcast Digital Cable provides that allows you to basically watch whatever you want, whenever you want.

Here's some more info about it:  http://comcast.p.delivery.net/m/p/com/mic/index.asp

I went to the Motorhead gig, hung out with Phil Campbell for a couple hours then went down to a club where I knew the DJ. Hung out with him for a few hours and played some kickass music and then went back to this dudes apartment who I'd been talking with. We had a few beers and before I knew it.. it was about 4, so I thought I should probably think about going home. Woke up when my alarm sounded at 10 to 7, rolled straight over and punched it, then fell asleep again and got up at 10.  ;D

I started having eye problems after starting work about 4 1/2 years ago, working at a computer all day, and I finally got glasses last year. I was straining so hard to see the computer that I was getting intense headaches. Plus, I have a weaker left eye than my right, so that one would be even more painful. I was also getting optical migraines, which is when you can go blind in one or both eyes temporarily. It was rather frightening, but it looks to have been solved by getting some good prescription glasses. I hope your eye doctor can detect what's going on :0) Good Luck!

Oh, the glasses have made a HUGE improvement. I can't say they solved it completely, but I can see everything so much clearer. Fortunately, I don't need the glasses for everything, just mainly reading, computer stuff and driving. I think glasses will improve your problem. Plus, two things that were not related to my eye problem (or so I don't think so), but were causing headaches for me were: 1) chewing gum (causing pain in the TMJ area) and 2) drinking caffiene. I eliminated gum chewing to just eating a tic tac here and there, and for caffiene, I probably drink one caffienated drink a week now. I think by fixing all these problems helped my headache pattern overall.

Forgot to say it...thanks for welcoming me aboard.  Not sure where you are exactly in NY, but I live up by the Canadian border, since you like hunting maybe we can get together at my lodge sometime...177 acres of land, 4500 acres of state land out behind, and enough deer to give you the choice of what size you'd like to harvest.

Actually I'd prefer Outdoors be a seperate category. Those of us who enjoy hiking shouldn't be put together with sadists.

Yeah, you know......people who get pleasure out of others' pain.  In this case, the "other" is a defenseless deer in the woods.  I eat meat, but at least cows aren't picked off by dudes in trees with laser-powered scopes.

This is America, and the land that I love complete with all it's freedoms. Freedoms to partake in any legal pastime and activity. Whether it be roller skating, surfing, hunting, etc..............
It's all a matter of individuality and opinion.
Sadistic is an opinion. I feel that it is less sadistic to kill a deer with a clean shot than to raise a veal calf in a 4 by 8 foot box while being immobilized for their entire existance and being fed only milk. Then being bludgeoned in the head to stun them so that peeling off their hide is less painfull so that they can be bled to death in order to remove all blood from their tissues to produce prime veal :P

Nope...cows are herded into the killing pens, ran down an inescapable corridor, zapped with a stun gun and then have their necks slit, all while standing up.  The deer I harvest have a far greater chance of my "missing"..flinching when they hear the shot(Or jumping when they hear the bowstring on my bow and ducking the broadhead)  My scope could fog up, the rain could prevent me from seeing them, as could fog, a bullet could be deflected by a branch and miss all together.

Now...before we turn this into a rant between hunters and anti's....here's a suggestion....do some study on a place called Hereford, Texas.  It's out in the panhandle, I've been through it a few times....the deal is, you smell it about 20 miles or so before you get to the town, once you start seing the dead cows laying on the side of the road you know your getting close.  Know why they leave them alongside the road??  Because they can't be bothered with picking up the dead animals.  Go and look at the "fattening yards" where the cows go before their date with the throat slicer...they're made to stand in over a foot of their own excrement, because if their hooves rot, so what, they're going to be dead in a matter of days anyway.  No grass for them, no place to lay down, just lots of corn and grains being fed to them to fatten them up before they are slaughtered.

I don't bait in my deer, I don't make them stand in a foot of crap, and I sure don't smell them 20 miles away.  But they can sure as hell smell me from a couple hundred yards no matter how many precautions I take.  I don't wear the charcoal suits that prevent that, to me it's unfair.  I might even enjoy a cigarette in my tree stand or watch, and still I manage to fill a couple freezers every year.  Most of my harvested animals are from less than 100 yards...they can smell me, they can see me, they can hear me...but I still get them......

Who do you think has a better chance for survival...your cow or my deer???

PS..I don't have a "laser" powered scope , whatever that is....and FYI..I don't use the laser rangefinders to give me a precise distance to my shot..I don't need them to know what 300 yards or 600 yards is....

I know I know, most people eat meat and of course those animals have to be killed just the same.

I still find anyone who enjoys killing animals as a past time to be a sicko, and don't even try to justify it by saying "I do it for food". Where do you live? The middle of the jungle? Go to the grocery store.

Well..all I can tell you is this...one of my well placed shots on a deer, antelope, elk, etc, gets both lungs and the heart, or I don't take the shot.

Now, on the other hand, when the cow is in position for the slicer, he can still move his head and neck, so if he raises up, he only gets half his throat slit.  They still get "hooked" and carried away to be processed, alive or dead...  Ever wonder why there is so much noise at a beef slaughterhouse??  My game I harvest drops immediately, I've never had to track a wounded animal yet in my 46 years.

I enjoy hunting. I can't wait until I can get upstate and go after some bigger game. I've shot Turkey, Rabbits, Foxes etc before and am excited about going after deer. It's good meat, it's a fine hobby. There are permits and laws so that too many aren't killed.. anywho, if the deer were left, eventually they'd overpopulate, much worse to starve than take a quick shot and not know a thing about it.

Uh, yeah..I do enjoy it, but I also serve a purpose in maintaining a healthy herd.  In NYS, there are 1.5 million deer.  The estimated "safe" sustainable number of deer in NYS is 1/2 million.  It's apparent you've not studied what happens to a herd when it's overpopulated.  Disease is rampant, starvation is a very slow painful death, the wintering yards here are full of starved, dead animals in the spring.

Ever heard of Tularemia in rabbits and mushrats??  In both cases, it's caused by overpopulation.  It went through the mushrats when the bottom went out of the fur market in the early 80's, and ran rampant through the rabbits because not enough people hunted them anymore.

Now..being a human and being capable of logical thought, I ask myself...would I rather die a slow painful death due to starvation, or would I rather take one quick shot to the vitals and have it over in a couple seconds???  I don't know what your choice is, but mine is obvious.  Oh yeah..the deer also have to worry about 6-10 feet of snow up here and being eaten alive by the coyotes and coy dogs as well.

Having somebody else do your dirty work for you is no different than doing it yourself.

Correct. I didn't realise the number was as low as half a million.

I made this same argument regarding fox hunting. Spending a lot of time in the UK and being a horse rider I of course enjoy fox hunting. It was banned a few years ago by shortsighted individuals with no idea what they're doing. The foxes were hunted, shot, killed in a quick manner. The hunt paid the farmers to maintain ancient hedge rows (some over 1000 years old) and to not over-farm their fields. Now that the hunt can't 'legally' hunt, the farmers poison the foxes who take several days to die and they also rip up ancient hedgerows so as to increase their land.
The fox population is decimated and the heartland is scarred.

The correct herd size in 1/2 million.

In ONE county in upstate NY, there are on average 35-40 car-deer accidents nightly. Thats 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Do the math on those numbers.  The overpopulated deer are decimating the farmers crops here, the DEC cannot get enough permits into the hands of hunters to control the herd.  Farmers are given 5 "nuisance" permits each to help control the herd...we've had far too many mild winters up here lately and the herd is running rampant.

I can remember 20 years ago hunting up here, you were lucky if you managed to "cut" a track the entire season...now, the only way not to harvest a deer is by not driving and not hunting...

Right. The population is too high.. and as I've said. The way the authorities get rid of the problem is to poison the animals which takes several days to kill them and results in a tremendous amount of pain.

There is quite an extensive program here in upstate NY where hunters donate the meat from animals harvested to the needy, battered womens shelters, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, etc.

All meat harvested is processed by licensed butcher facilities.

Venison is a much healthier alternative to beef in many ways..less fat....treated with NO chemicals whatsoever, etc.

OK, that may be extreme. Let me rephrase. Make those ten persons ten households in your community. Statistically, some will be extremists that have the will have intent to kill your family. Rather than kill them then, would you #1)- accept them all as peace loving since you cannot distinguish, #2)- try and guess which are the "bad guys" and treat only them with caution and suspicion, #3)- or, treat them all with suspicion in order to protect your family (my obvious choice), or #4)- other__________________________.?
I feel that if you choose any other option except #3, that your politically correct, liberal  points of view will cost you dearly at some point in your life.
And note that I've substituted "treat with suspicion" instead of kill; however the implications are exactly the same as far as your reaction, only the resolution (kill or treat suspiciously) is changed.

Just my opinion though........

Also, if my reference to "herds of brown persons" is an unbelievable POV, please be aware that there are some much more extreme POV's held by the KKK, neo-Nazi groups, Anti government, separatists groups etc. You need to read some newspapers and watch some news, IMO. I feel that you are uninformed as to what is out there in the world. Look at how extreme the Muslim Terrorists are compared to me. Do you disbelieve their views and actions??
Do you really feel that these groups are unbelievable and not sincere in their opinions?? If so, you are like a blind person. These extreme groups, as I, are as serious as a heart attack as I have stated. I'm nowhere near there level, and hence, should not be placed in such an "cannot be taken seriously category......
I am here, and I am real...........

http://www.forgotten-ny.com

"Anywhoozles"???  What does that mean, that you do not agree? Don't back off now. You are never at a loss for words or without an opinion. I have clarified, responded honestly to all of your queries, and have offered you the chance to maintain your opinions, or modify them (which is OK, and will not be rubbed in your face). We have disagreed and I wish you to try and understand my point of view, as I struggle to do with yours. Please don't run for cover now. Please respond and answer my direct questions. You are respected and I am truly interested. Plus, I trust that you, as am I, are enjoying our healthy debate.
Thank you......

Anywhoozles is a made up word.  It means nothing.  Quit looking for stuff that's not there.  I heard it on TV back when I was a kid and I use it to segue from one topic to another when something light-hearted is needed.  Like right now.

So like I said, I urge everyone to check out this site ---> http://www.forgotten-ny.com    I found this after searching around this one site that Carol (lorac) posted in the "Show Us What Your Hometown Looks Like" thread.

::) Douchebags who hunt aren't providing YOU with meat. Thats not what goes to grocery stores.

Yeah right, man. You're a sicko, jesus. "fine hobby" you talk as if you are painting or something. You're killing living things for sport. Theres meat in grocery stores readily available, no reason to hunt.

If I were an animal I'd rather have a chance at surving than for someone to shoot me.

The entire justification. Try to make it out like you're some sort of humanitarian all you want, but you're just a savage.

Dude...here's a couple other points to consider, think about them the next time right before you take that first bite of that store bought hamburger.

You know what one of the most dangerous meats you can eat is??  Hamburger....Now see if you can tell me why.

Another point on hamburger...what cuts or scraps of meat are in that beef hamburger??  You got any idea??

My venison hamburger-I know EXACTLY what scraps and cuts of vennie are in there..why?  Because I ground it myself...

Steak-here's another good one.  It looks good, it smells great, right?  Ever see beef that was slaughtered on the farm, in it's natural state??  It isn't that nice light red shade your used to seeing in store bought beef.  It's dark, and it smells the way meat ought to smell, not chemically enhanced to provide the aesthetically pleasing color somebody determined consumers liked.

Venison-Dark in color, not treated to produce unnatural results, not chemically enhanced, and it smells like it should.

That steak or hamburger-go back to the farm it was raised on.  Did it get fed the right foods??  Or did it get fed animal byproducts in addition to the hay and grain??  Chances are, you don't know, and can only speculate, or "assume" they did the right thing, right??

Venison-Well, since I'm surrounded by corn fields up this way, it's a pretty safe bet the deer have been grain fed, or since corn doesn't grow 365 days a year, they've probably gorged themselves on all the grass and hay fields around here...nobody uses chemicals in the hayfields and the corn don't need it, so it's a pretty safe bet that unless the deer have been drinking anti freeze or used motor oil, their meat is probably free of chemicals and additives to make stuff grow faster.

The slaughterhouse-think Hereford Texas and a foot of excrement.  Think about a few thousand of these crap covered animals every hour being run across the same conveyor system, dripping all the way.

"My" slaughterhouse-actually, I do all my own slaughtering, in a room that any chef in the world would have no problem eating off the floor.  Yeah, it's that sanitary, because I keep it that way.  I inspect each individual cut of meat as I slaughter the animal, anything doesn't look perfect, trim it up and make sure it's just how I want it...think your beef slaughterhouse does that for you??

Would you eat off the floor of a slaughterhouse??

I package my venison with a 2 layer system to prevent even the slightest amount of freezer burn, I've had some vennie I've taken 2 years before taste just like it was harvested a week or so ago.  Take a wrapped piece of beef from the grocery store, stick it in the freezer for 2 years and then see if you'll eat it after it thaws.

I "age" my deer for a minimum of 5 days before processing.  Think that beef gets the same TLC??  Try again....

Yeah, Dude...I'm a real savage.  My meat is harvested under better conditions,  aged under better conditions, fed under better conditions, with no chemical enhancements, processed under better conditions than that greasy chunk of burger you just chowed down on, so who is the real savage??  Me??  Just because I have no problem pulling the trigger or releasing the arrow??

Any way ya slice it....my vennie will kick your beefs butt hands down, any day....

I don't hunt, but I don't care if others do, as long as it is in the boundaries of the law and the animals are taken out cleanly.

I'm not arguing to make it illegal. I'd LIKE to see it be banned, but I really don't know if there is sound legal basis for that. Perhaps not.

My point is more of a personal one than political/legal. I don't like anyone who hunts, I find it disgusting.

A large factor in why I don't really like or relate to my brother as a person is because I found out he went squirrel-hunting with a buddy once.

Esox you are a savage because you kill other living things for sport. Its not necessary to hunt in order to eat, its not the middle ages anymore.

You have some valid points.

Personally, I would never hunt...I don't have the guts to do it...and the thought of killing Bambi and friends saddens me...however, I know that it has to be done...like the others have said...if someone doesn't do it, we will be so totally overpopulated.  We have friends of the family who own a meathouse, and I know personally, they deal in a positive way, not like said slaughterhouses...and their meat is superb. The meat you get in the grocery store, like the others said, you have no idea what you are getting.  I could understand your argument a bit more if you were a very strict vegetarian...but you enjoy entrees that consist of meat, right?  Someone had to kill that animal in order for you to be able to cook it up and make a grand meal.  I feel that if hunters shoot animals for the intention of food, then that's not a problem...what I don't like is when people hunt merely for the decorative aspect of it....I don't like seeing deer heads hanging in restaurants, stores, homes....however, it's none of my business what people do for their sport...and I don't think name calling is right, Alex.

You obviously didn't read all my posts.  We, as hunters donate much needed meat supplies to the shelters I mentioned in another post...

I know that you probably do more than your share to help centers like this by taking half of your pay every week and running out and buying meat and food items so you don't have to hunt, but I have the means to provide for needy people and can spend my money on other pleasures...

I don't need to hunt for food or sport, but the hunting of small and big game animals and birds & waterfowl doesn't bother me. The hunting that bugs me is the trophy bagging for the head mounted on the wall. I would have no problem killing an elk or a deer or a boar but for me personally, I don't need the meat or the sport, but it's a free country and if it's what somebody else wants to do, then who am I to judge. by the way, I get my meat at Safeway, Raleys & Albertsons.  cooked a wonderful sirloin burger w/cheese for dinner. The cow that it came from had to be killed by someone in order for me to enjoy its flesh and it was good.  8)

D@MN, that's harsh.  You don't like your brother because he did something ONCE you didn't agree with?

Personally, as long as the "meat" is used (consumed), I have no problem with it.  It's probably MORE humane than how livestock/poultry is killed for human consumption.  I personally wouldn't do it, but I don't hold it against people who do.  I've even dated guys who hunt in the past and had no problem with it.  I don't eat venison or squirrel or pheasant, but that's not because of the hunting aspect of it, it's simply that I don't care for the taste.  And yes, there IS a distinctive taste......I can tell the difference even if I don't know what it is....

My words are my opinions. I say what I mean, and I mean what I say.
By your statement, you indicate that if you disagree with someones point of view, or feel it to be incredulous, you cannot take it seriously.
Well, I'm as serious as a heart attack in all of my words; whether you choose to accept that fact or not.
However, that is your right and privilege, and is accepted by myself , although I am glad not to be of that mindset also.
I choose to accept all facts as facts, and leave the rose colored glasses on the shelf........................

You lost all credibility when you called Rush Limbaugh a true american patriot.

This is of course true. However my problem with hunting for sport is that one is essentially killing another thing for enjoyment, not out of necessity. With modern developments like supermarkets, its not a necessity to go out and kill an animal for food yourself. I kind of take the Native American view that its a necessary evil that we have to use other animals to stay alive, so to me doing it for enjoyment is just reprehensible, all there is to it for me.

But at least they know WHAT they are eating...unlike us supermarket shoppers who will consume anything as long as it comes in a nice shrink-wrapped package with the label on it.  Sometimes it scares me to even eat any meat from the supermarket at all.  I was a vegetarian for a year, and I felt really good without having eaten any meat.

Exactly. Because it's part of the food chain. If they're killed for eating, they might as well be eaten. Now, if you killed it for sport, that would be wrong, because it's for fun, not for food.

Some people just like to hunt for their own meats, it's probably better wild than the stuff we get in the store. My brother used to hunt and I remember when we were out by his place all the different meats he prepared, lot of this you just can't find in the store usually. He also used to smoke it and make jerky and stuff. Some people like doing that kind of stuff. I really don't have a problem with it, if they only hunt what they eat.

I was a vegetarian for well over a decade.......not for health reasons or animal rights reasons; I just felt like not eating meat anymore.  However, my family always bought organic beef as often as they could and I try to eat that as often as I can.  We have a great meat department at the store we shop at and no one in my family has gotten sick once from eating their meat.  Even when we lived in Chicago, we never got sick from eating the meat at the store we bought it from.

I think its an unfortunate fact of life as humans that we rely on other creatures to live.

However in this day and age its not necessary for most people to kill their own food. You can go to the grocery store. Choosing still to hunt is, in my eyes, hunting for sport which I think is sick. Our dependency on the flesh of other creatures is not something that should be turned into sport.

I can't say it any clearer than this. I'm done with this subject for now.

It's all about the tofu.  Frankly I'd rather have a steak and I was also trying to get you off the anti-hunter podium for a moment. YOU personally don't have to rely on other creatures to live.  IF you are so vehemently opposed to the method in which I harvest my meat, and IF that statement you made is true, unless you are a vegetarian then you are a hypocrit.

You are absolutely right, it's not necessary to have to kill my own food.  I have already listed some of the reasons I do what I do, which YOU seem to be perfectly willing to ignore and even challenge, choosing instead to call me names like scumbag and savage.  I guess conservation practices, population and disease control and a true love for the outdoors doesn't mean much to you.

Can't say it any clearer than what??  Basically, you've resorted to name calling, and not saying much of anything although you've typed a lot of words without addressing one single point I've made.

You won't have a warm relationship with your brother because he hunted squirrels once, yet you'll eat the hamburger somebody else took a life for in order for you to enjoy it....thats hypocritical.

Deer hunting is actually a necessity, especially here in Minnesota.. because of the over population of deer.. If they didn't have hunting season, many would starve over the winter, or be maimed or killed by wandering into the highways and freeways. I personally don't like venison.. but I have nothing against hunting. As long as you're not hunting an endangered species or poaching.  Now back to the subject of what i'm gonna do today.. well I'm gonna work at 7am.. so I have to skedaddle..

MOST "animals" rely on other creatures to live.  I don't know what grocery store you shop at, but none of them I shop at offer venison or pheasant.  My grandparents used to have a farm and their entire supply of meat came from livestock that they raised.  That's how ranchers and many farmers make a living....breeding and slaughtering animals.  I'd much rather have someone killing an animal for food than killing an animal strictly for profit.....

I had a meeting this morning and then at lunchtime I bought a new bathroom.

???

Long story!  We thought about replaing our central heating boiler and getting a combi.  We have a pumped power shower and to keep this working we'd need a boiler with a storage tank.  The company who came to quote got the measurements wrong and the new boiler (which we haven't yet ordered) doesn't fit where the old boiler is.  So it was either a major rebuild or change of plan.

The shower has been leaking through the kitchen ceiling on and off for a few months so we decided to get the bathroom done out and buy a different shower so that next year we can buy a smaller boiler!  On Saturday we had a quote for a new bathroom suite, shower enclosure etc and I phoned up yesterday to order it but I had to go into the store because we were trying to negotiate a bit of discount.  They will be delivering and fitting everything within a couple of weeks so I had to pay the full amount yesterday - hence I bought a new bathroom!

Today I've already been to two meetings.  I've got a few e-mails to sort out and some paperwork to chase.  This evening I've got to buy a birthday cake on the way home from work - my daughter is 8 today.

I see.  I had to look up the combi and boiler (y'all have different plumbing over there ;)), but I understand now :)

I've had a boiler everywhere I've lived.. including in the states. A Combi boiler is a piece of crap that's supposed to save money and does that by not properly heating the water and giving you far less pressure.

All I've ever had is a regular old "hot water heater".  I think we call them something different here....

Is it an astigmatism? I have one, as well. I bet the new glasses will look schnazzy!  http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/03/cool2.gif

Nope, not an astigmatism - it's something different.  http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/12/dontknow.gif

And thanks to Erin and Mike - I'm excited.  I think the ones I got are really cute.

Now, I missed the hunting debacle, but I'd like to throw my two cents in anyway.

For the most part I have always been against hunting even though I grew up in a hunting family.  My dad and my uncles hunted deer and elk every year when I was a kid.  One year, I was trying to make my dad feel bad about it, when he told me to get in the car.  We drove up the canyon (which isn't far - my dad's house is right in the mouth of the canyon) and he took me hiking.  This was in early October.  We hiked up and across a ridge, and on that one ridge we found 23 deer skeletons, all deer that had starved to death.  He asked me if I would rather have the deer suffer and starve or if I thought it would be better for them to be shot and die quickly.  It didn't take me long to get his point.  Now, while I could never kill an animal myself, I certainly eat my fair share of meat, and was raised on venison.  I can understand why people don't like trophy hunting - I don't either.  I think a deer head on a wall is just creepy.  But I do think that if a hunter kills an animal to feed his family, it is perfectly fine.

As for today, I'm at work now, and then I'm going grocery shopping.  I have 7 nieces and nephews on my side of the family, and they are all sleeping over at our house tomorrow night.  This is a tradition that my mom started when they were little, and I am continuing it.  We are going to order pizza, play games, watch movies, and eat junk food.  It is always so much fun!  :D

It's definitely crazy, but always a blast.

I didn't think they'd want to sleep over anymore - they range in age from 10 to 18 and I figured they had pretty much grown out of it.  Well last Sunday I was cooking dinner at my dad's house, when my 16 year old nephew came and gave me a big hug.  He told me that it had been too long since he's hugged me, which was too sweet.  He then said that we should have another sleepover.  I was floored.  Here is this popular star athlete, and he wants to sleep over at his aunt and uncles.  I guess you never grow out of certain things.  I planned it right then and there, and the rest of the kids were totally excited too.  I can't wait.

I think my best friend's son has that.  I thought she was crazy when she was telling me about it, but it somehow causes him to be both near & far sighted (in essence) ???  Can't wait to see the glasses.  I hope they help.  They did for me :)

We replaced our boiler/hot water heater this summer. Man, was that expensive but so far it is begining to pay off. Our electric bill has gone quite a bit. As for our oil bill (yeah, we have oil heating), it was already paid for so we won't know until next year when we purchase next year's oil.

BTW, Happy Birthday to your daughter.

As for me, today, I'm getting my hair done.

You lost all credibility when you called Rush Limbaugh a true american patriot.

I suppose that you not agree with a couple other Patriots, Sean Hannity and "The G Man", G. Gordon Liddy?
