My interview went great, they want me to start training on Monday for like $250 a week which is fine for training. I will do that for 2 weeks to see if i am good enough.. so basically $500 to see if i like the job.. can't go wrong there.

I would get the kids to prove they are proper cub scouts by setting challenges.. like.. go to Schnuks and do the shopping.. take mommy to the hairdresser and.. i dunno.. feed them if they managed to do it...

Been a bad year workwise, but I just got some, should last a week or so. Construction is down the tubes
and it's been hard, but budgeting has gotten us through.  Hopefully I'll be able to make enough to cover
the taxes I will owe on my unemployment.  You guys do know that during the Reagan Administration
they decided that unemployment benefits were taxable income? Trickle down? no trickled on!!!!!

Not much today, but tomorrow at 4:00 I have an interview for a reception position at a law firm.

Today I went to a couple of ceramics stores to price new kilns.  My kiln is very old, and there is a part on it that is pretty corroded.  To my surprise, I found out that the part can be (fairly easily) replaced, and all I need to do is bring my kiln in for the repair.  Of course that's not going to be too easy, but at least I'm saving myself some big bucks because I don't have to buy a new kiln afterall.... :)

Yesterday my daughter was six. I had the afternoon off work to organise her party.  We hired a scout hut  so there was plenty of space for them all to run around.

It was panic stations at 4.00 because the clown we had booked (who was basically running the show) hadn't turned up.  I was just about to start a game and send hubby off to buy some prizes when Boo-Boo the clown arrived!

Today the BBC are in my lab filming part of a documentary.  They should be here most of the day.

Hmmm.. do they leave the camera unattended to for a while.. I'm gonna get the old Man a video camera for christmas and i guess a BBC one would provide excellent picture quality.

If not it would be fun to drop.. keep an eye out for me.

no, nothing like anything you imagine I do at work.  Something to do with the way different body shapes have different skin temperature patterns and therefore loose heat to the environment in different amounts.  We've got two students as victims (sorry, participants).  One is short and very muscular and the other is tall and slim.  I think its for Horizon.

I'm on my way to work in about 20 minutes!

OMFG.. i love Home Depot, it is like the Ultimate Man Place.. it rules..

At work I've been sorting stuff out after yesterday.  We cleared out loads of stuff from the rooms that were being used for filming and now I get to put it all back.  Plus all the other stuff I'm usually doing.  I've got about 20 light meters to find a new home for which means clearing some more crap out of a cupboard.

At home I've got to clear up all the wrapping paper and packaging from my daughters presents.  I'm going try and get her to write all the thank you letters tonight.  I need to  sort out a fancy dress costume for my 3 year old for Children in Need day tomorrow.  Everyone at nursery is dressing up.  Plus write some letters to the Cub leaders in the District about camp next year and what other activities we plan to do.  Hopefully I can rid of a few at the District Quiz on Saturday.

Not too much, therapy this morning, laundry this afternoon, Cub Scouts tonight, making a few phone calls...that's about it for today :P  Oh, and I have to run to Home Depot to get a new lock for the spare bedroom door and get that put on today so my MIL can sleep in peace when she's here this weekend ;)



So, will the lock be on the inside or the outside of the room?  ;)

I've just been bowling. And aside from the fact that I hurt my feet (and slipped over onto my.. I mean, the floor several times) I had lots of fun!

It's snowing.. I pelted nick with snow balls... pushed him over and continued to pelt him.. then several of us Pushed pete in to a snow drift and pushed loads of snow down his back.

Then as a pieste la resistance we got the jerk off bus driver (he snarls at old ladys) to stop his bus open the dor and booooommmm.. he got pelted!!!

bed, start all over again tomorrow. :(

I have used Zicam and it works great, BUT, you have to use it the minute you begin to feel sick.  If
you already have come down with a cold it won't work, or even make things worse.  If you started
using it when you were already at the puke stage it was too late.  I use it whenever I get the tickle
in the throat.  I also use it if I am going on a trip, airlines and trains are noted germ carriers. I start
using it the day before.  I used to get sick when I traveled by air or train, since using zicam I don't
anymore. ;)

Today we are going to the "big city" (well, the biggest in the state anyway), do a little Christmas shopping, have dinner with my step-daughter (to celebrate her birthday which was yesterday), and then go see the Rascals in concert. We will be spending the night with my step-daughter since it is about a 2 and 1/2 drive from here and we don't want to get home after midnight. Should be fun.

I'm recovering after a busy weekend.  We spent quite a bit of time tidying up the house because my family all came round for tea yesterday (in honour of my daughter's sixth birthday in the week).  We also took my daughter to dancing twice and to her swimming lesson.  My husband managed to finalise the orienteering club newsletter (he was 'volunteered' for the post of editor) and we all went to a barn dance on Saturday night.

The barn dance was great fun and there were quite a few children there.  James (my almost three year old) was my 'man' for one dance and then we danced another with me and James as woman and Elizabeth as the man!

Doing laundry-sheets and towels. Starting to clean for our guests who should start arriving on Wednesday.

i've made an appointment to see a mental health councillor tomorrow. i'm going through depression right now and i've been courting thoughts of suicide so through my ex's insistance, i've made arrangments to get help. joy...i'm looking forward to a future seen through anti-depressants...

Not necessarily. You might just need to talk to someone! Anti-depressants are just a cover-up. They don't solve the inner-lying problem. Glad you're doing something about it though. Some don't. Good luck with it! :)

I wish you could've caught Jim Carey on 60 minutes last night...He talked of his depression and how he spent a lot of years on Prozac....he quit taking them or any other meds...quit drinking and does no drus at all. He says he can "tolerate" his depression now. Depression runs in my family..I tried Zoloft many years ago but it just made me sick. I take no meds and, like Carey, haven't had a drink in a while now. I am really sorry to hear you have harboured these thoughts, Sputnikcorp. It is wonderful that you are positively taking steps to recover. I can only say through personal experience that anti-depressants don't remove the core of the depression (the reason why you are getting depressed over and over again). Seeing a mental health counsellor sounds like a really good opportunity to talk things through and work out how you can cope with the feelings you are getting when they are triggered.

I used to drink anywhere from 3-5 beers every night. It may not seem like much to some...but it was the Reason I drank.Most of the time it was to just numb my mind from life, which I thought sucked. I feel better every day that goes by now. Banasy has been sober for quite some time now and has been a great source of support to me. I'll probably never stop completely but just knowing that I can go as long as I want without..makes me feel more secure. As for this board....I am SO happy that I found it, and all of you ;)

Well I had to go to bed early last night instead of posting, becasue my friend needed my help today...now since the weather sucks (I HATE Winter) we aren't digging out his basement after all. SO, I'm here thanking Karen for the wonderful  words and just feeling very happy that I was able to find this place and all you wonderful people! In a while I am going downtown to do some volunteer work at a shelter (Giving out Turkeys)...but be warned: I shall return!

At work as usual at the mo'  I had a lunchtime meeting of the nursery consultative committee.  I made the mistake of agreeing to be minutes secretary on this committee.  I think I must have the word 'mug' tattooed on my forehead.

Tonight I'm going to the student's Scout and Guide club (scogui) to talk to some potential new leaders and helpers.  We've got loads of forms for them to fill in which will be fun.  Hopefully we will be able to fill all the requests for help we've received from the local groups.

Today I will be taking my daughter to the doctor because she's been complaining that her ear hurts... :(

She is fine.  The doctor said that she doesn't have an ear infection.  The pain in her ear is related to her allergies, so he gave her a nasal spray which should help with the discomfort.  I've already taken her back to school.

We're having some new floor covering put down here at work.  I didn't realise they were going to put down a plywood sub floor first.  The noise of the hammering is getting to me.

We managed to recruit about 6 new leaders/helpers last night for various groups in the Scout District which is good.  Now I've just got to work out a schedule for getting each of them introduced to the groups.  I changed roles because I didn't like all the meetings I had.  Now I seem to have even more!

My husband is out training tonight so I have to look after both children and put them to bed.  I'm really struggling with my six-year-old at the moment.  We've had quite a busy few days and she's over tired but won't admit it.  She refuses to go to bed before her younger brother, which I can understand, but he has an hours nap at nursery so isn't as tired in the evening.  All this means is that she is bad tempered and unco-operative and screams and shouts at the slightest problem.  I am not looking forward to tonight.

Since it's still Wednesday here, I might as well tell you guys what I've done today. I did have school (although lots of people didn't show up). I went to my classes (one of which had 10 out of 24 people present today), played some Pac-Man, ate, and later came home. The train was emptier than usual, both in the morning and in the evening.

After all my worries yesterday, I got both children into bed without any problems. :)

The men are still hammering on the floor above me at work.  They reckon they should be finished by lunchtime so hopefully I won't get a headache today.

I'm gonna call Expedia about a vacancy.

Well...I've gotta finish cleaning things up around the house, so that it'll be ready for the Thanksgiving dinner today. My parents went out to pick up my grandma and bring her back here (she doesn't drive long distances, especially on the freeways), and they'll be back around noon, which is about two hours from now. So after I make this post, I'm gonna sign off and finish getting the house ready. :)

Right now I'm making the candied yams that we'll be having with our Thanksgiving dinner.  I'm trying to do what I can early so that we're not all racing around in the kitchen at the last minute... :)

Usual sort of stuff planned for the weekend.  James is going to a friend's third birthday party so we need to go and buy a present tomorrow morning.  It's going to be a teddy bear's picnic party (although we're not going in disguise, do you think we'll be alright?)

I played 9 holes of golf with my dad today, as part of an assignment for my golf class. I didn't do too bad; I actually made a par on the sixth hole (3).

Had a Pizza Party and made Pumpkin Pie. :P

Today I'm going to meet my best friend, as normal, and then maybe we'll come back home and I'll just slob out and eat candy for ten hours. A candy-fest sounds like the best plan at the moment.

Six hours into the candy-fest, I decided to go buy two copies of a CD which I didn't own until this afternoon, the Beach Boys extended Christmas album.

Read the  Sports section and the story about Colorado's win over the Huskers ;) Now I'm going to root very hard for Iowa State to lose to...Missouri :P

Going to have holiday family portraits taken today, then maybe I'll join hubby and his dad for their 'tailgate party' at the local stadium before the football game starts.  After that I'll probably head home with the kids.  :)

Gonna TRY to get rid of this cold. I asked Hubby to bring home some brandy so I can get drunk tonight to try and knock this thing out of my system.

Well I was awakened at 4:30 this morning by a call from my son Brian, telling me that he had returned from his trip to California safely....then I slept like a baby until 9. Then I made my weekly trek to my parents house for breakfast. Now I'm posting (Obviously) and watching football (What else!)....tonight I'm going to hopefully watch Denver beat Oakland to keep pace with The Chargers.

We'll the weather sucks and i get to ride my little bike around looking for a job  :( oh how i want a car.

Not realistically.  He is living here and his wife and daughter are living in Scotland.  I doubt his wife could support two households.

I have approx. 8 weeks left to go. Tomorrow I have another ultrasound to make sure everything is cool...and to make sure it is a boy. If it isn't, I will be exchanging LOTS of things. :D

Today I woke up early and ran some errands. Later I'm watching the Green Bay/Lambs game ;)

Had an ultrasound done. My placenta moved where it was supposed to be (it was lower down and the doctor thought it might cause problems), but....the baby is in a breech position. No doubt he'll probably turn before the 38th week, but if not, the doctor can try and turn him. :)

No work today because of the inclement weather.  High winds and rain make highway work kinda...

Whoops. It's a boy. I had an ultrasound done in September that showed that. I was hoping the ultrasound technician could confirm it yesterday, but the baby had his butt and back pointed at the camera. ;D

Yep. The pelvic tilts. We had to learn those in childbirth class. They are supposed to work quite well. I know they are also great for when my back and leg are aching. :P

Did some laundry and then had my father-in-law watch my son so I could go out and do some Christmas shopping.  :)

I ran errands all day..nearly. Now I'm home watching "Everybody Loves Raymond"...I'm going to bed right after "Lost" is over because I have to be up at 6 am for work :D

put an unwrapped bar of soap in bed with you at your feet...don't know why but the soap thing works wonders ???

Finished work and will be picking up Randall from school soon for his 3rd followup appointment after breaking his ankle....

Randall has 2 more weeks in his cast and then he'll move to a boot for another 4. We are going to a Nuggets game sometime before Christmas. Tonight I'm gonna burn CD's and post...after I take another hot shower....it's the only way I can get warm......I HATE cold weather >:(

I left school with a very sketchy plan and it hasn't worked out. I feel disapointed with myself, because i think i have let myself & my family down.

I dunno.... i am gonna sit down and asses what needs to be done, maybe talk to some people.. it's very disconcerting at the moment because although i love my mom and dad and we get along good, i don't want to talk to them. I always used to talk to my grandpa about this stuff, but he has moved back to St. Louis which obviously makes it difficult. GRRRRRRR what to do...

i had my final arguement with my ex today. she told me she can no longer continue our friendship over email and msn...i also seen a mental health councellor for the first time to get over my depression. i plan on many more visits. paxil and therapy are my closest friends now....

Don't forget that part of the not working out bit was because you tried to keep a bit of integrity and refused to work for a cocaine junkie!  You are still applying for suitable jobs and are wating for BT to start recruiting apprentices again.  That has all the makings of a good career I think.

You are not just sitting on your backside and expecting something to turn up.

Will your school let you go back and talk to the careers people there?  Or is there somewhere similar in the city?  I know when I left school I talked to a careers counsellor at Loughborough College.  They might still be there if you want me to find out?

Depending on what it is you need to talk about, I've always found most people here to be helpful and give good advice.

the 127 bus from St Margaret's practically stops at the door.  (o.k. five minute walk from stop to college). or the #7 from the station goes through the college en route to the uni campus.

I thought today was going to be a good day.  I had it all planned out and then I remembered I had a meeting over lunchtime at work which changed things a bit.  No matter I thought, if I hustled I could get some stuff done before going to work.  Specifically I needed to put frosting on a cake to take it to a cake stall at the school Christmas fare tonight.

The clock in the lounge said it was nearly 7.30 when I went for my shower.  It wasn't till I was getting dressed that I realised the clock in the lounge was wrong, horribly wrong!! It was already 8.00!  I dashed downstairs and started to make the cake topping but it didn't work (probably cos I tried to do it to quickly).  I did a quick rethink and just used simple icing instead of trying to be clever.  I just hope it doesn't all run off the cake before tonight!

The lunchtime meeting was worth it I guess because we did make quite a lot of progress on a long term project.

I'm helping on the cake stall tonight and then fetching Elizabeth from her first Beaver Scout meeting.

Over the weekend we are going to start writing our christmas cards and letters and, on Sunday, we are going orienteering and we are in charge of the orange squash!
