I was playing "Brothers In Arms-Earned In Blood".I shut it off to come
on the boards and play a little Mahjongg only to find the arcade is down.
So it's back to the Xbox for awhile.

Finally, finally, finally, after jumping through every bureaucratic hoop we have finally gotten my mother her supplemental health
care.  She is 84 with advanced dementia.... but does she really need adult day care?    duhhh!    More than enough to make you
despise what passes for "compassion"  Anyway, we can now sign her up for additional days in day care(she still lives at home), above
the two that we have her in today.  If anyone cares to ask it is 125 dollars a day if you pay out of pocket, that is a six hour day. Now
she can have up to six days a week, seven hours a day, and up to 2 weeks overnight respite.

I remember seeing that when it first came out.  I really only remember Dennis Hopper writhing on the ground calling
his mother, and Isabella Rosselini had visible cellulite, making every woman in the theater sigh with relief :)

I will be stopping at the sporting goods store on way home from work to pick up new softball cleats and pants to play in. My first tournament of 2006 is tomorrow, the winter state championships. It's a fairly small tourney since it's still winter, maybe 24 teams from nor-cal. I enjoy playing, and really enjoy winning and hope this 50year old bod can hold up for one more year of competition.

thanks Jeff, the thing with tournaments is it's usually a 2-4 game guarantee, and we could play 2 to 7 games in one day depending on how they set up the bracket. It's early for that much play. I could play 4-5 games if we're winning, and be ok physically, anymore and I'll be needing the advil and the hot tub afterwards. Some tournies are double elimination, you lose two and you're out. This could be my farewell tour at 50, we'll see after tomorrow

thanks, I'm back from 3 games played today & we lost all 3, but it's our first tourney of the year and the teams we played were in their 3rd or 4th so they had an advantage. I Like that our team is cohesive, still had fun despite the losses, and are optimistic about our next outing in 2 weeks. I came home, cleaned up and then went to poker game at friends house and did better there, took 2nd place and won 20bucks, but it cost ten to play so I made ten dollars. and now I'm on the board for a little while.  :)

stayed in a hotel and hung out at the arcade.  "Wait 'til Next Year"  :)

if hanzel und gretyl ever tours again, i have a hunch they'll probably kick things off in new york. in which case i'm likely to be in town and you're bound to see me skulking around in your backyard and stuff.

i went to NYC once, in 1995. at one point me and my friend were all, where's the empire state building? i can't find it anywhere. so we looked and looked and found a cop and asked. and he's, is that all you want? and we say, yes. and he's, are you sure you don't want anything else? and we say yes. and he points up to the sky and there's this MAMMOTH SKYSCRAPER THAT LITERALLY BLOTTED OUT THE SUN.

Nothing eventful...just had my two computer courses and worked on a few computer lab assignments. In one of those classes we're currently learning how to do all kinds of things on MS Word 2003, like formatting text in certain ways. I have five more things to do and I have to get them done by next Wednesday; however, I can only work on 'em there, since we don't have current software at home. We have a rather primitive Windows operating system, with rather primitive MS Office application programs. 97! There are several things you can do with the current version of Word that you can't do with older versions of it; hence, I need to go somewhere that has the appropriate softwares.

Also I need to study for the midterms I have tomorrow. I think I'll do well on them.

They sign all the paperwork monday, so I'm assuming they'll be moving in shortly after. The house is already empty, so they won't have to wait for the former owners to move out. I'm tempted to put a "sad" emotican in this post somewhere, but I am really happy for her. . . . . really.  ;)  :)

It was a real nice day today so I picked up Jake at school and we went for a ride to Revere Beach(the oldest public beach in the USA).  We were walking along the shore and I found a bottle(plastic) all wrapped up in plastic and taped up in a plastic back.  I was all excited, it isn't very often you find a message in a bottle.  So I took it home and got the scissors out and cut all the stuff away and it was a bottle of "Restless Oil".  I googled it and found it is some kind of potion used to cause people to break up, or be in turmoil.  There is some ritual attached.  I figured the best thing to do was to toss it, scissors and all.  That bad kharma stuff always backfires on me.  ::)

Sounds fun - Boston was one of the lovliest but coldest places I ever visited in the US, mind you we went in December/January so we did ask for it!  I love the park in the centre were they have ice skating and such, also that lovely food market/hall set up in an old church type building, in the shopping area, I forgot the name now.
We stayed at a hotel on the river near a boat club I think, we had to walk quite a way into town, over a big iron bridge and very old historic houses.

No we go to Shoreham (Brighton) airfield. The tiny airport itself is an old Art Deco building, curved stone walls and all, and there is always a good selection of small planes and helicopters on view. WWII Spitfires last week.

Today we had a parents against the kids basketball game as a way of ending the season.  There was a big surprise on the parents team when a player came out and did an outstanding job making baskets, no one expected that to happen, least of all me, who was that very player.  I sometimes shoot a few with Jake, but haven't played a game since high school.  It was a lot of fun then they had pizza, chinese food, and lots fo deserts, and gave out the trophies.  A good time was had by all.  :)

Usual sort of Saturday morning and afternoon with mum's taxi taking the children to swimming and then dancing lessons.  Late afternoon I decided I needed a new coat so we went shopping.  I bought a coat, a pair of trousers and a pair of boots!  Then we went to a restaurant called Frankie and Benny's for a meal.  We really enjoyed it though the kids were a bit too tired.

Sunday we went orienteering in Cannock Chase.  It was bitterly cold and kept snowing, though it didn't really settle.

Monday adn I'm back in work

Heyy isn't that an amazing coincidence  :) :)    It's a good feeling that despite the vastness of the world somehow it seems smaller and friendlier when stuff like that happens.
(Do you see the very hilly areas of the cliffs, they are known as The Seven Sisters and form part of the Beachy Head marathon route)

Today I must do some study and my homework for tonight, I hung around in cyberspace most of yesterday and wasn't productive at all - reflecting on earlier events. Back to the grind.

Yes, spent a couple of hours.  I found it absolutely breathtaking.  I was taken there by a local who said that the tourists go to Dover, the locals go to Beachy Head.

good dinner idea Erin, crispy fried fish sounds good and ya needed a little bit of a break from the little rascal.
I got home from work about an hour ago, nobody home but me so I logged in and then had to do some chores:take out the trash, the recycle, I have a softball tournament tomorrow so I had to get my equipment bag, bats, glove etc... ready and wash some laundry, then got a quick bite of leftover chinese food. My corned beef and cabbage sandwiches absolutely rocked today at work for lunch and made my 3 friends very happy and me too because they liked it so much. Now for some DownTime.  whew, I need to take a breath after all that.

Since we're down to 1 car now, had to take my daughter to work, then pick her up later. I think we'll go to the mall and browse, maybe buy, and have some lunch.

Went to my daughters performance last night at her school. The group is called Story and Song, The cast is 35 students seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshman. The show was called "An Itimate evening of Cabaret by Candelight". The cast served strawberry cheesecake and coffee,& tea and then they sang 3 songs. Then they served the second dessert vanilla ice cream with chocolate and caramel sauce, sang 3 more songs. Then they had a special guest performer from the San Francisco cast of Beach Blanket Babylon Jessica Fisher sing Taylor the Latte Boy, then 3rd dessert and the last 3 songs. What I loved most was the selection of Pop Culture songs they performed which included
I Wanna Hold You Hand - The Beatles
Killing Me Softly - Roberta Flack
Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison
Theme from The Brady Bunch (very funny)
Peace Train - Cat Stevens
Taylor The Latte Boy  (guest performer Jessica Fisher was incredible, she was so good)
Movin On Up (theme from The Jeffersons)
Imagine - John Lennon  with his voice dubbed in.
The show was very cool and quite entertaining.

Food AND! Singing, dude, why wasn't I invited?

Anyway, today isn't going well.

1) I have a nasty rash on my forehead which is burning like crazy, i'm gonna see the Doc and find out if it's contagious or not.
2) We have an enormous storm coming in so I'm gonna have to go and sort out the basement windows.
3) I got nearly no sleep last night due to (1) so I'm probably gonna try and take a nap at some point.
