Me and my gal are heading to Monument (A town about 20 miles north of Colorado Springs) to clean a house with my friend Mike and his wife Katie.

I shut mine down a few days ago...lows had been down to 35. The cooler was at a ground level location though. I also don't like heights too much ;)


The funny thing is the next couple of days it should be warm enough to use the cooler, but it will cool down this week, so no biggie.  We had a couple of days last week where it only got to 55 for the high...I almost had to turn on the heater.  Not going to, though, until it gets a tune up.  Don't want to die of carbon monoxide poisoning this year.

Today I am going to mop the kitchen.  Sarah is going to a birthday party so I should be able to get it mopped and it should dry before she tromps through.

I am preparing to do battle at a lunchtime meeting between all the negotiating unions here at work. One group in particular is beginning to annoy me.  They claim to want to work with the management but then withdraw their support for things 6 months after they negotiated how something was to be implemented.  ::)  I just hope I can keep my emotions in check.  I am starting to feel on the outside, in that my views don't seem to agree with many others but I have the backing of my national union officer.

Right now I am sitting in my husband's office using his work computer. It is really strange using a different computer. This afternoon we are going to hear Howard Dean scream  ;).  It should be interesting.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm at today. Probably: college, social life, 2 hours' sleep, as has been the norm in recent weeks..

I'm up early to go put the finishing touches on the shop...so the landlord won't hassle me about the deposit. Hopefully I'll be back later to post.

I have my fingers crossed that everything I fired in my kiln yesterday turned out okay.  It's still too hot to unload at the moment...but later on today I will get to see the results.  :)

Also, today I will be taking my daughter to the doctor to have her eyes checked.  She tells me that she's been having trouble reading the writing on the chalkboard at school... :-\\

i'm having a fun/relaxing day off..slept in,went out for lunch,ran a couple of errands,about to make squares for a friend,organize my dressing room and decide on an outfit to wear out tonight(ok,maybe not so relaxing but fun anyway) :)

My almost-4-year-old son rarely takes naps anymore.  He seems to think he doesn't need those...but what happens is that he ends up falling asleep during the dinner hour.  :-\\

So, I guess it's about time for me to post on this thread, eh? Let's see...I woke up at about 3pm, went to the bank, then on to the grocery store. I bought my first lottery ticket on the way home since the Mega Millions is at some freakishly huge amount. Then, I went online and bought my tix to see Green Day in November (woo-hoo!). You've gotta love those fan club pre-sales. ;D I'll probably make dinner in a couple of hours (fajitas or tacos, I think), wake up my hubby, then we'll go to work until 4am. Then it's back home, grab a snack, then catch some ZZZs after checking the ol' email/forums. Yup, I guess that's my day today in a nutshell  ???

Today I'm doing some more cleanup around my house. Yesterday we cleaned out our garage some more and made things look neater; in one really big box we found tax returns and other stuff dating back to the 1980s; we've shredded quite a few of those papers, but there's lots more to go. So I spent last evening doing some shredding, and did some more today. Also, in the garage, I helped my dad assemble a shelving unit and made sure that we didn't make any mistakes. I'm good at making sure we follow directions according to the visual aids in each step.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't have a cold right now. Although 14 years ago at the beginning of October, I remember having one. It only lasted three days though.

I really don't want to jinx myself but...I also do not have a cold! I JUST finished watching Sue Bird/Lauren Jackson and the rest of The Seattle Storm beat Sacramento to force a game 3 on Tuesday :)

My day will be pretty much like everyday during the week. I will be ripping my comedy DVD's to MP3 Player during the morning and then be at work from 2-10pm. I am fortunate because I am allowed to take an additional 5 minutes break an hour (on top of my normal 10 minutes) because of my hurting hands and back - it certainly splits the day up.  :)

I've just done the usual sort stuff at work today.  Now I'm going to fetch my two children and sort out dinner.  My husband won't be back till later tonight so it's up to me.  He's spent the day in France with a work meeting.

I was supposed to be meeting a new Cub Scout leader tonight and introducing him to a group but unfortunately he can't make it this week.  I'm going to nip down to the group anyway to let them know that.

Actually I miscalculated the fact that I was doing nothing. I won my first game of 14-letter-Scrabble inside college grounds today (a highly dangerous activity), and, amongst other things, got away with the unacceptable (but perfectly plausible enough to be in the dictionary) "thelarche" (thus scoring myself 60 bonus points for using eight of my letters..)

That's a sneaky move that's going to be in my repository from now on, anyhow. (wink)

Right now I'm watching the baseball playoff game between St. Louis and LA...Cards lead 7-1 in the 5th.

One of my teachers ghot flu shots every year for awhile and always got the flu.  Last year, he didn't get a shot, and also didn't get the flu. ???

Sometime ago I read that it actually puts the flu virus in your system and somehow is supposed to keep you from getting the flu ??? not sure if thats correct, but I have noticed at work that a lot of people who get flu shots end up sick and others who don't get it (such as myself) don't get sick.

For those of you who are not preggers (and over the age of 21) and have the flu, have you tried a hot tottie yet? I make these when I am feeling under the weather and they seem to help.

I make a hot cup of tea and add a tablespoon of lemon juice, a tablespoon of honey and an ounce of Jack Daniels (or your favorite other comforting medicinal type liquid ;D ) . Then drink. The combined ingredients and the warm drink will help break up what ales ya warm yer insides as well.

Yeah it puts like a really weak strain in to your system like a strain that is almost dead anyhow, thus allowing your body to recognise it and sort out the anti bodies that it needs to kill it. So in theory if you catch the flu your body has all the right stuff to deal with it, but some people just re-act badly.

I've just downloaded the Microsoft security updates and patches on to a machine at work.  There was one major update and 20 critical patches to download!  My boss then told me of another machine that needs doing.

I dashed into work this morning to take some staff photographs.  Turns out they meant next Wednesday.  Grr  >:(

When i was a kid, if i couldnt sleep my dad would usually give me Watered down Whiskey... it does indeed help you to sleep, and of course if your little and don't drink.. (obviously even IIIII didn't at the age of like 5  ;) ) then it will indeed help you sleep

I know a bit off topic but since some people are feeling under the weather, I thought that I would mention my "cold cure". I usually get a bottle of brandy and take shots all night and get totally drunk and go to sleep. I usually feel better in the morning. (I wouldn't recommend this for Jessica right now though). Or you can put some ginger slices in brandy and let it sit for at least two weeks. (This definately needs to be prepared before the cold/flu season). You can sip the brandy or eat the ginger slices (which will help with a sore throat).

But, if you are running a fever, put onion slices on your feet. I know that sounds really strange but keep them there will socks. The onion takes the fever out of the body. I have also heard that just keeping an onion in the same room also helps.

Yes, I have been studying homepathic remedies. I'm not an expert by far but these are some idea. Besides the first one about getting drunk (that one I didn't read, something I did on my own), the others really can't hurt.

I hope everyone is feeling better. If anyone is interested in other homepathic remedies, PM me and I will see what I can do.

The first ones a nice suggestion but anyone with young kids will probably agree that it's not feasible.  It's hard enough functioning the next day when I've been up in the night to sort one of the little buggers darlings out.  The thought of getting up in the night slightly drunk and then in the morning having a hangover does not bear thinking about!

I hadn't heard the onion one.  My feet are smelly enough at times so perhaps I won't try it.

Yeah the Onion thing does apparently work, it is all to do with it making your body like dump specific fluids and stuff, like when you cry when an onion is chopped. Not sure how it works exactly, Cat'll have to explain that one

I decided (Again) to try and get into better shape! My ideal weight is 170 but I need to lose about 10-12 lbs. to get back there....so this morning I took of on a run. I had planned on not overdoing it first time out but....It felt SO good that I went 3 miles. We'll see if I can still "Walk" tomorrow!

Today I worked until 4:00, flew home to pick up my daughter to get her to work by 4:30, fought traffic, came home.  Went back to pick her up at 7:00, waited in traffic lined up bumper to bumper to drop her off at the High School football game. (Homecoming game) Our town is way into football, so every friday night when there's a home game the main road in town is like a parking lot leading up to the school! (we're undefeated, by the way!  :) ) Tomorrow is the Homecoming Dance, so I'm sure I'll have LOTS of interesting stuff to post tomorrow night  ;)

Went to work.  We took a co-worker to The Cottonbottom for garlic burgers for her birthday.  Yummm.

After work I started my Christmas layaway.  Scary to think about.

Today's going to be movie day. We're going to see Taxi, with Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah for the kid, then later I'm going to see Going Upriver, the John Kerry documentary.

I took my daughter to her dancing exams yesterday.  We won't know the result officially for a month or so but I think she should be o.k.  I'm more worried about her medal test in November because she has to remember a dance as opposed to specific moves the examiner tells them to do.

I'm in work today and i've got a few things to sort out.  More database updating (which I keep trying to avoid but my boss will hassle me v soon!), photograph taking and sorting out sets of experimental equipment for a practical class.

My hubby is in America/Canada with owrk this week so I'm v busy at home too.

I have worked my butt off and now I am home I shall walk my dogs, have my dinner and then put the fire on, get a bottle of wine and watch a chick flick...  roll on Friday!

Pay the bills I was supposed to pay yesterday, clean the room like I was supposed to do yesterday, clean the turtle like I was supposed to do yesterday...yeah, I procrastinate.

I also have to wash some shirts for my mom because she can't do laundry right, print out my baby shower invitations (my sister made them, they're wonderful!), and cook dinner later on. Let's see if I can accomplish all of this with the raging headache I have. :P

I hope the meeting went well, Howard! Did you have a good time?

As for me, I'm off to college this afternoon, and doing nothing in the meantime but sleeping. I just hope I don't sleep in two further hours than I should..!

Yesterday, we had two of my step-daughters (and granddaughter) here. Very nice visit. The baby is sooooo smart. Today, one of step-daughters and I will be getting our hair done. Then she is going home.  :\'( (You can tell that I can't stand my step-daughters.  ;))

It's great that you have such a good relationship with your step daughters, Cat! Today I have my 6 year old nephew and he is a HANDFUL!!  I'm not used to having small ones around  ;)

Sat through what I thought was an earthquake (scared the daylights out of me) (and the cat !  :D) only to find out later it was a sonic boom from an Air Force F1-11  :o

A sonic boom has shaken coastal areas of south-east Queensland sparking fears of an earthquake.

The ABC switchboard has been flooded with calls from people in the Brisbane area who have felt walls shake and seen windows rattle.

The tremor was felt at Clontarf, on Brisbane's bayside and on Stradbroke and Bribie Islands, and at Deception Bay and Redlands.

Patrick Leahy FussBudget ;D from north of Brisbane says you could not miss it.

"I felt a very sharp sudden shaking of the house windows and doors rattling quite viciously," he said.

Paul Lineham from Defence Public Affairs says an F-111 being tested off-shore created a sonic boom.

"Now normally people on the coast won't hear or feel that but sometimes the sound waves can get trapped in a temperature inversion layer which obviously happened in this situation and it broke closer to shore," he said.

Even though it was a false alarm, it was scary enough to imagine what sort of terror the real thing must invoke  :(

The best description I can give is that it was like someone was holding the house and shaking it as quickly as they could
