We are in far north Texas and we will be stocking up on water and some food too. We have batteries, and I am going to make an emergency pile with everything all together. Where do you keep all your emergency stuff? We have a small house and the safest part is the guest bathroom but there isn't any storage space in there!


I think Hubby is more concerned that I am. We were in WalMart tonight and peeps were buying up water and stuff like crazy - he says he feels exactly like he did when he was first deployed... that nervous stomach feeling and stuff.

We are in lowlands and tornadoes are likely... we generally have about 3 - 7 a year so we are prepared for that situation ;)

Tmr all the outside patio stuff is going into the storage, we're cutting the grass real short to help with water run off and getting some short term supplies that we might need. Road Runner already notified us through email that they are shutting down from Fri around 10pm and will be back up Sunday around noon-ish.

The only other thing I am really concerned with is wind damage cause the houses in the neighborhood I live in are older - dating back to 1940 or further - and the trees are huge around the area.

We should fare well all in all.

We keep all of it in the storage closet right next to the furnace... in the dead centre of the house!!!;)

I am about to go get some grub - I didn't sleep very well last night, so I woke up around 7am and kept hitting the snooze button until about 8am, lol. Aw well, still got to work fairly early (around 9:30am). I had 3 hours of class last night, which was somewhat exhausting. She had a lot to cover. So, anyway, in a nutshell. I am at work and I have class again tonight.. snooze..

^ I gotta do the same thing in just a few minutes!

I volunteered at my hospital.

I did some Algebra work and got angry with it.

I don't mind if it's difficult.. long.. or complex. What pisses me the hell off is when for equations that seem similar.. there are totally different sets of rules  :P

I volunteered and brought back my application to Burlington Coat Factory.

Today at school was interesting. There were rumors going around that someone was bringing a gun to school, so there were several policemen in the lobby, and teachers were standing in the hall after every period. Of course nothing happened since the people that had been involved were all suspended or arrested yesterday. Tonight I'm going to a football game which should be fun, even though our team doesn't stand a chance.

Well...I cleaned, ran some errands, went to take pictures of items that I am selling for someone on Ebay, drove Chris down to his friends, they are going to a high school football game tonight, then..I went shopping for awhile...and now I am here.

Hehehehe, i played Traffic Cop today.

The way i walk to College i basically take a one way backstreet past a couple of factorys.. Literally a block from my house right.
Anyway there was an accident and two burst gas mains on Highway 40 today so of course there were dozens of cars trying to come down that street. Hahaha! It was funny as hell, i began just waving for them to turn around, telling them it was a one way street, then i got bored of that and let them pass. There was the best traffic Jam i've ever seen in a single street. I called my friend to walk down from the College to where i was (about 2 streets away) we stood and watched.. and laughed.. at all the morons.

I..Didn't do much of anything, today. I was woken up earlier than usual by a phone call from Justin telling me about the gun threat that Shiprunner mentioned above. I was supposed to go to a fair tonight, but no one really wanted to. So, I just spent the evening with my mom and nephew.

Busy day. One of my best friend's is coming over with her two boys. We are going to go to Applefest in the park and eat lunch. Then we are going to return the ladder that we borrowed from another friend. (My best friend is helping us with that because she has a truck). Then we are going over to the college for Homecoming/Alumni weekend. They are having a carnaval and such there. Everything always happens at the same time.  ::)

Just got home from work, now watching the news to see what happened to Lake Charles. We have friends there, although they left Thursday, I'm wondering what damage was done to their home, if any.

I've been on an outing today with the mens choir that I sing in.
We've visited the island of Vlieland, where I'd never been before. It was a four hour journey by boat (times two, 'cause we also had to get back) so there wasn't really much time left to spend on the island. Nevertheless, it was terrific and the weather was great (sunny, though windy and chilly once on open sea). I have made some pics that I hope will turn out great. If so, I will post them in due time.

Took my daughter to a birthday party.  I cleaned the kitchen while she was gone.  Much easier to clean without little feet underfoot.  Now I am getting ready to work. :P

awww, no problem. I had that problem once..and it turned out to be kidney stones...that was the most painful thing I have ever gone through. Anyway...I hope she is well.

Midfield is the best part to play.

I went to San Francisco yesterday for most of the day - then we went into Berkeley to search out some Indian Sweets (as my boyfriend likes to call them). We bought at least a pound full of Indian sweets. They sure taste funky!

Yesterday I called to have my burner looked at, I won't have heat in the house until it is cleaned because it is smoking, and I gave the clerk my cel phone so that they could call me and tell me when someone would be at the house so I could have someone there because I am working.  Today I called because the clerk said they would probably be there before noon and it was 10.:30 and she said they had called but there wasn't an answer, so I said "no one called my cel" and she said yes they had, but they hadn't because it would show up on my voice mail or missed messages.  I kind told her that they couldn't have called my cel, but what was done was done and we should reschedule for tomorrow.  She said in a snippy tone that mad me want to jump through the phone and strangle her that they were booked and that I should find someone else to do the job.  I was pissed!!!!  Anyway, I got home and the call had come in on my home number because she hadn't given him my cel and was trying to cover her tracks by sending me elsewhere.  >:(

I volunteered today.

Well...this morning I got to campus about 30 minutes later than usual; that's because the train had to move slowly on the tracks between Simi Valley and Chatsworth (and that's due to the wildfires in the area).

I had my two classes in the morning, hung out in the library and did some posting here; then I went to go have lunch. Between buildings I saw this one girl who was in a class that I had taken two years ago; it was the first time in about in a year and a half that we ran into each other. :) So we greeted each other, I gave her a big hug (and she only used one arm because her other arm was holding a notebook), chatted for a bit, then we each went to our respective places. (And she's very cute, btw. ;D 8))

After I had lunch I went to do some volunteer work. At about 4:00, I walked over to the nearby Rite-Aid to see if I could find a lithium battery for my graphing calculator, but there weren't any. So I got an ice-cream cone instead and ate that as I walked back to the campus.

Later it was time for me to catch the shuttle which took us to the train station. On the train I had a very nice conversation with a new friend of mine who is taking physical therapy courses at the college (I met her on the shuttle three weeks ago, and she seems very nice). Even though the train had to travel slowly through the Santa Susana pass/tunnels, it wasn't all bad because it gave my friend and me an extra 15-20 minutes to talk. :)

So I had a really good day today, despite the 90+ degree heat and the continuing wildfire.

I'm going to Pittsburgh, tomorrow night---er...tonight!

Just finished work - my last night on night shift is tomorrow!  :D

Today the new students start here at the university.  One of my jobs is to take their photographs for display on the dept website.  That took two of us about an hour to do.  Thank god for digital cameras!

I expect to spend the next week directing all the freshers to their lectures/departments/whatever.

Last night I was rehearsing a dance for a show I am in at the end of next month.  I think I've got the hang of it now.  I only learnt the dance last weekend.

Football Game Again.. Another Lovely Night With The Band.. Ought to Be Nice. Hope I Don't Get Too Upset When I Have To Go Home. It's My Dad's Birthday This Weekend.. Gonna Celebrate With A Meal and a Movie.. I got him a really nice shirt to replace his old one that got ruined in the wash.

I'm studying at the moment... as you can tell by the amount of time I've been here tonight.  ::)

Just finished watching the Rockies lose to the Mets (Again)  and am currently watching Boston lead the Yankees 5-3 in the 8th :)

Basically not alot. Stay home, chat on here... thats about it.

I mostly stayed home today too, but I went out for dinner with my parents. Then I came home to watch the Dodgers lose their 90th game of the year to the San Diego Padres. ::) On the plus side, I was happy to see the Red Sox and Angels both win.

It's going to be another beautiful New England day, but I have to think of a reason not to clean this
house or I'm going to miss it.  ::)

Did some house painting today and actually managed to get most of the paint on the walls and not on myself  :P

I plan to go into the City Centre today and get a few things.  :)

Went to Lowes with hubby to buy some weather proofing stuff for the windows. Then the hairdressers to watch my daughter get her hair done for Homecoming tonight. Then, I actually got to drive around a little bit on Tony's (my husband) new riding lawn mower!  ;D  Didn't think he'd ever let me touch it! Later, I'm going to take pictures of my daughter and her friends getting ready to go to homecoming. Oh, and in between there somewhere, make a pot of chili!  :) 

I am so excited because I got my homecoming dress today and it is so awesome!

So today..

I finished my English essay.. it took me ages to get in to it, then when i found the subject it all just flowed out. Which is always good.

I did a load of research on the 'teapot dome incident' I won't go in to it..  :P

I also fixed our Modem.. well.. i bothced it. My uncle purchased a new modem, but he has the router and what not hooked up through everything, so i'll just let him do it, I jerry rigged the old one so it could be used, just cuts out every hour or so.

I also got my computer sorted out so it wont crash as much, got a stablising programe for it.

took my son to a hockey game :)-the local team lost :(

I am so excited because I got my homecoming dress today and it is so awesome!

Honestly, mate. I have been going around looking like The Littlest Hobo (without the fur) for so long. I needed to get me some clothes - I think I will have to do it on a regular basis (everything needs to be replaced  :-[ :)).

I went to the Jersey Shore: played some games on the Boardwalk and at the arcade that the have there. I won a stuffed animal too. I ate my lunch there and had a nice view of the ocean while eating my lunch. Finally I went to the aqaurium that they have on the boardwalk.

Went the the university library (for 5 minutes then found a nice empty room, with a radio) and did some study.

Took 3 hours.

I'm staying home from college today. My mum made me go on some sort of diet, and during the night, i felt really bloated and uncomfortable, I couldn't sleep. I was awake all night on the toilet, and then this morning I threw up about 7-8 times....now I'm very tired, dizzy and a bit queasy....I'm rather ill  :\'(

It must have been something you ate, avoid dairy products today, milk, butter, cheese, yoghurt, etc.

Diets aren't meant to make you feel that way, Cait. Your mum is putting you on something you can't deal with (low blood sugar will probably explain the dizziness). Crash dieting never works because it takes such an effect on your body too soon. Your body has to be allowed to adjust to changes.

Hopefully, buy a scanner if I feel like going out today.  And buy some pumpkins and fall decorations to put outside.

I'm going to the bank then later this afternoon I'm going to hang out with a friend.I'm really not supposed to cause of the religious holidays but I'll do it anyway.

Friends of ours has a pumpkin carving party every year. They invite a lot of people and they have a bonfire, and lots of eats. Once the sun goes down, they put candles in all the pumpkins and it looks really cool. And of course every year I always have to carve a cat in my pumpkin-surprise, surprise. They have a whole bunch of patterns so when they are done, they look like they were all done by professionals. It's really cool.

I highly recommend pumpkin carving.  It's just the inside of the pumpkin that I don't particularily like.  So slimy.  Blah!

You oughta buy a "baby" pumpkin gourd, and just carve it, I did that one year, and maybe will again this year.  We don't have any trick or treaters unfortunately because we live in an apartment complex.  I really miss seeing all the kids in their costumes.  Halloween was always my favorite holiday.  One of the reasons I knew my husband was "the one" was when we first started dating, he wasn't into the holiday or any holidays really.  He lived about an hour's drive from me, and I'd go up to see him on the weekends.  Well in October the first year we were dating, he decorated his whole house for Halloween.  It was so awesome.  It showed me he really took the time to get to know me and that he cared about me.  :)

Ah! Excellent. I've yet to start but I've got an excuse . . .

Well...we fixed up the spare car, the battery was dead and completely dry, so we added distilled water and jump started it to charge the battery.  It works as a back-up car because our breaks are grinding on the car we normally use.  If it isn't one thing, it's a million.

Ate at Steak n Shake, then went to a thrift store.  Changed the cat's litter.  My life is so exciting, I should write a book.  :D  ;)  ;D
