The Make Poverty History campaign is about getting rid of the debt in the third world countries.  They are repaying vast sums to the G8 countries on loans.  If the G8 countries agree to wipe out these loans then the countries will be able to rebuild themselves.

To find out more go to http:// www.makepovertyhistory.org

I see...well...even though what you are doing is a good thing. ( I commend you for that)  I would rather give to my own country first. I see first hand how the working class here gets nothing and they are the ones who keep this country running. Most working class are a paycheck away from poverty. No offense to what you are doing but that is how I see it.  ;)

I do know what you mean, TC (I hope you don't mind me shortening your username  ;)). Charity does begin at home and, yes, there are starving people, but I think the best way to tackle poverty over in these third world countries is to tackle the politics that goes on within them.

Nope.. My friends call me TC.  :) Tackling politics within those countries could be a battle that could never be won. A good many of those countries have so much corruption and many of the citizens don't want other countries coming into and dictating what to do. ( IMO) I guess they are used to living the way they do?  :-\\

He just happened to be in 'the right place at the right time', which is why his career took off meteorically...

Ask any of his co-workers from the time and they'll all say the same thing...'he was a smug, self-centred b*stard...!!'

Nice to see the BBC pulling out the stops...you either had Evans on the radio, or the tiresome Jonathan Ross on the box! Call that a choice...?!!

Hey if anybody wants good ribs in New Jersey go to Tiffany's Restaraunt. They have locations in Union, Fairfield, and Toms River. The ribs are expensive but they are very good. I ate there on Saturday and for the 3rd time.

Today we are taking the Amtrak Vermonter to... Vermont.  (CatandCarlos Country).  We take the
train out of Springfield(Ma) to White River Junction, stay two nights, visit Quechee Gorge, antique around,
eat too much, swim in the pool, then come home on Monday.  I love these little getaways.  :)

You should have let us know. Quechee and WRJ are only about an hour and 1/2 from us. We could have met you there.

We just got back from our first trip on the boat this year. We came home a day earlier than we intended because it does get tiring out there. I still don't have my landlegs back yet and everything seems like it is moving. It is nice to be out there but it always seems nicer to come home.

Today I did more of my volunteer work. This database that I've created, my supervisor wants me to organize all the records by category, so I created additional checkbox fields for the various categories that might come up; I set that up just two weeks ago and it's taken me the last couple of weeks to categorize all most of them. And when that is done, I will run queries for each of the 20 categories I've created and then create PDF files for each.

At this precise moment in time I'm having a cup of tea to calm down.  For the first time my daughter rode her own bike to school today.  She is still wobblier than I thought she would be.  (My husband rode with her somewhere at the weekend and said she'd be fine!)

Also my brand new computer stopped working (or rather failed to start up) this morning.  Dead as a dead thing it is.  The enigineer comes on Monday.  I've had to swap back to my old machine for the time being which gives me the opportunity to find out what programs I need to install on the new computer and what the printer address is!!

Yesterday my son(who has PDD) had to be home alone and get himself on the school bus.  He gets
picked up at my sisters house since I go to work so early(usually 6am).  My sister had an early doctors
appointment so we decided it was time he tried it and although I knew he could do it I ended up sitting
in my car at the top of the street where he couldn't see me and waiting for the bus to come get him.

I checked for a loose lead and swapped over to the monitor cable so it's not that.  (As a technician I get used to double checking the simple things like that first.  I love being able to sort out a student with some equipment that isn't working by pointing at that plugging the thing in helps!!)  Weird thing was one of the lights on the front came on momentarily and then nothing!!

Today my mom and I had hair appointments in the morning. But before we got to the salon; in fact, less than two minutes after we left our house, we saw a loose stray chihuahua dog running around in the street, right in front of our car. :o We let it cross first before we did anything else, then parked the car on the next street, and my mom got out, got the dog, and tried to find its owner...no such luck. The dog had a leash and a collar on, but no ID/license tags. So we went over to the salon — with the dog; I held it in my lap while my mom drove — and I held onto it while my mom was having her hair done; she held onto it while I had my hair cut. Afterwards, we went to the animal shelter and they took the dog in. Their policy is, after 5 days, if an animal is not claimed, then they put the animal up for adoption.

For the record, the furthest east I've ever been is Chicago...the furthest north, Minneapolis...the furthest west, San Francisco...the furthest south, San Diego. So I've never even been out of the country...but my mom has; in fact, she went to Europe 30 years ago this month and came back home in August.

the only other country I've been to is Canada....I would like to take a roadtrip out west someday...just me and an RV...oh, and my camera of course!

Erin :)

I'd like to see a few other states too (and maybe another country or two)...but I just don't have the time or energy or money right at the moment. :-\\

Getting back on topic...I was out during the morning but stayed home in the afternoon... Tomorrow (Saturday) I have a lot of stuff planned; my parents and I are going out for lunch to celebrate my birthday (which is on Monday) and I have a diner's club meeting in the evening. Right now my parents are out shopping for birthday gifts for me...which I'm not allowed to know a thing about until Monday. :)

Err, yep. Sorry Bobby, was a bit disgruntled with my lot in life when I wrote that...I'd normally do more of a Friday evening, but I'm working tomorrow, so was a bit hacked off with that...

That being said, I'd rather have a £10 S&M voucher than a £10 M&S voucher! (Sorry, no more posts with 'adult' overtones, I don't want to offend/ get banned!)

Ha ha! No need to apologise, lol. I thought it was funny.  ;D

It's gonna take a bit more than your posts to get banned, mate.  ;) ;D

Nope.. My friends call me TC.  :) Tackling politics within those countries could be a battle that could never be won. A good many of those countries have so much corruption and many of the citizens don't want other countries coming into and dictating what to do. ( IMO) I guess they are used to living the way they do?  :-\\
Anyhoo..We could go on and on with this. I got to get my butt to work!

Have a nice weekend everyone:)

Very cool. You can call me Rob if you like (you too Goodsin  :)).

A war is probably going to be the only way if the dictators are not going to budge. However, there is little motivation for the big countries to invade as these little countries don't have much value to them. If they had nuclear weapons or had oil, maybe it would have been a different thing altogether . . .

I went to Europe thirty years ago.  Jeez, it doesn't seem like that long ago.  I think it was alot easier to do
in those days and a lot of us did it.  I went from October to January and stayed with friends and in hostels.
I hitch hiked from London to Paris and back, and spent most of the time in Bath, England.
Today I am not going to be quite as adventurous.  Jake wants to go to the zoo, maybe clean house. Wait, let me think this over....(wash dishes...jump on a plane...wash dishes...jump on a plane.............)

This morning on the way home from the computer shop, my wallet (including my house key, a £10 note and more importantly my credit card) fell out of my pocket and onto the seat where I was sitting without me realising. So I walk up to the door carrying 3 very large, heavy bags and... gasp! where's one's key?! followed by "oh...sh*t". Firstly, I phone my nana who has a spare key... no reply , then I try my mate's mobile to see if I can leave the laptop at their house while I chase my wallet... no reply. Then remember that I had to be at work for 12:00, and this was at 11:30! So I phone up work, and explain the situation. Thankfully, the woman who I spoke to on the phone just asked me to phone when I was coming in, and that everything was fine. Phew. So, my friend rings me back and I explain everything to her...so she suggests going down to try and get the bus, which thankfully comes every ten minutes. We waited half an hour and tried 3 buses, neither of which have my wallet in. So we go back up to my mate's house and phone Stagecoach, to ask them when the bus will return, and they tell me "quarter past one"... which was bad considering that in order to retrieve my wallet, I would have to be (at least) an hour and a half late for work. So me and my friend sit in her house, waiting 25 minutes for the bus, when suddenly work phone me, explaining that the woman who I phoned earlier finishes her shift at 1pm, and that there will only be ONE PERSON left in the shop. I felt crap because she needed to be away sharpish coz she was going somewhere, and there was nothing I could do. She suggests trying the other buses just in case, so me and my friend try the 5 to and 5 past buses with no success, then, finally at 1:12pm hope arrives in the form of the number 16 bus to hastings hill. The driver recognised me, gave me back my wallet, I ran home, had a quick wash (Obviously I was sweating like Jacko in a nursery by this point and didn't smell too fragrant), and ran to work to make it for 1:35 (only an hour and 40 minutes late!). Thankfully, the woman who waited behind for half an hour was okay about it, and when I explained everything to my boss, she was fine about it too. Note to self: Must get trousers with zip pockets to save future embarasment

That's what I asked my boss. I'm at work from 1 - 4pm tomorrow, so I asked if I could make up for the lost time by doing 12 - 4:30pm instead, but my boss said that they would go over-budget if they paid me AND the woman who stayed back, so she said she'd pay the other woman for the hour and half instead of paying me for it, so it's all cool  :)

The Black Dahlia Murder

LINE-UP
Trevor Strnad - vocals
Brian Eschbach - guitars
Zach Gibson - drums
Dave Lock - bass
John Kempainen - guitar

The Black Dahlia Murder immediately established themselves at the forefront of the then-burgeoning U.S. metal scene when they released their full-length Metal Blade debut Unhallowed in June 2003. The release of that critically lauded album, however, was only the beginning of an epic journey that would find this Detroit, Michigan, quintet dealing with personnel issues (founding member drummer Cory Grady was replaced by Zach Gibson) and a nonstop touring itinerary that kept them on the road for nearly two years playing with bands as diverse as The Red Chord, Arch Enemy, Napalm Death and Terror. But those experiences ultimately had a profound effect on their latest Metal Blade release, Miasma. "The road has been what really made Miasma what it is," vocalist Trevor Strnad confesses. "Much of the content here is a direct result of our experience in the band."

It is no surprise, then, that Miasma reflects the insanity of life on the road for five guys, barely over the legal drinking age, who were playing an endless string of shows across North America and Europe. "It's quite a bit more personal lyrically, ranging from anthems of cheap sex and drug use to more classic Black Dahlia Murder horror style," says Strnad. "I've tried to reinvent BDM lyrically here. It's still dark. It's still really evil sheesh."

Strnad's growth as a lyricist is just one of the ways the band expanded its sound on Miasma. Guitarist Brian Eschbach contributed more to the writing process while his counterpart John Kempainen wrote and played solos for every track. As a result, The Black Dahlia Murder--rounded out by bassist Dave Lock--have created an album that reflects the bonds cemented by the band's two-year odyssey. Recorded and co-produced with the band by Scarlet drummer Andreas Magnusson at Planet Red Studio in Richmond, Virginia, Miasma is a deadly reinvention of The Black Dahlia Murder's nefariously nasty melodic death metal sound. It is a sound that Kempainen simply describes as "more pissed off." Strnad sees other improvements, as well, however. "The new songs are much heavier than anything on Unhallowed," he declares. "We were making a conscious effort to challenge ourselves as players and give each song an identity of its own. And the addition of Zach has enabled us as a unit to write more complex and interesting arrangements."

Miasma is just the latest chapter in the ever-twisted saga of The Black Dahlia Murder. Like the long-unsolved murder of a young Hollywood starlet that the band took its name from, The Black Dahlia Murder's appeal is visceral and dark, a terror-filled exploration of extreme sounds and vicious brutality. And it is a step closer to the apex the band is still aiming its sights for. "I feel that we are yet to reach our prime," says Strnad, "but Miasma is many steps closer to where we want to be. We have a better band in 2005 and now a record to show for it."

I took two of my boys to the football field where my whole family used to go and we threw the ball around for a while. I also kicked a 45 yard field goal and told them how I once kicked a 55 yarder and was going to seriously try-out for the Denver Broncos back in 1987. They asked why I hadn't ever tried and I had to let them know that it is still a huge regret in my life that I didn't. My "Friend" at the time told me that I was crazy to think I could make the team and I believed him :-\\

I went to see Tom Petty last night. I was most impressed, he can still put on a good show, but Jeezuz, i don't know if it was just the Pavillion or whether there is some sort of noise reduction law in Missouri, but God it was quiet compared to what i'm used to.

^Hey AL!

Tom Petty freaks me out but I love that name Cradle of filth, what kind of band is that?

Death Metal.

The Filth are awesome.

Tom Petty freaks me out as well, he's a bit too love and peace for me.. but i enjoy the Heartbreakers, they're all outstanding musicians. I can take or leave Tom.

He was being supported by the Black Crowes who are excellent.

I'd definatley reccomend that you download some Cradle Of Filth, they're great.

In a little while the builders will be knocking down the wall in the living room, which means that I'll have to retreat to the bedroom for a bit with the kids...

Cradle of Filth are not death metal they are more a black/goth metal mix  ;)

they use keyboards, you won't hear keyboards in Death metal
they use clean vocals and you don't hear clean vocals in death

Fair enough Jim, you're the expert, i've always leaned more towards Speed and Thrash.

Today I worked til 2:00. Got some things together to take to Good Will. As I type this, there is a Marionette of Joey from N-Sync staring at me! My daugher found it in a bunch of junk from who knows when and decided to get it out and sit it on the computer desk  :o

Went to church, came home, went out again and had a late lunch/early dinner, and came back home. My mom baked my birthday cake this evening. :)

Going to have to go up and start getting ready for another night at work  :(
Finish at 11pm, come home between 11:10 and 11:20 , in two minds about whether i'm going to come back on tonight after work, coz i'm tired enough as it is NOW, nevermind after having worked a 5 hour shift!  :D

Might see you all tonight, but i'm making no promises...

Stop trying to ruin my career.

My latest work is called 101 reasons for you to go to hell..

I feel that in todays world with all these not very hate filled artists coming out with all there slightly mundane, but relativly happy songs there should be a beacon of anger and pent up aggression for the world to relate to.
