I think Undertaker should be pinned at his 15th anniversary this year.Would you believe he's been in the WWF that long? :o
I'm seeing signs of gray on his hair and beard so you can tell he must be in his early 40's.
He could be in Hall Of Fame soon.

What is it with everyone wanting to see all the Pro wrestlers go out on the bottom? Go out with a loss? Go out with a final ass whoopin?

Whatever happened to the going out on top?  Winning the match against the youngster, helping him up and telling him he's on his way to greatness?

I guess it's either tradition or a sense of rightessness I'm looking for.

Way back when pro athletes used to know when to quit.  It was sometime before they made fools of themselves by losing their competitiveness.

Flair is long overdue, and it would not be believable if he defeated a young buck without outside interference.

Flair's one deal, and I agree.

However the Undertaker is a whole different story, and he should go out with a win.

It would be nice.. but he would definately have to retire ASAP.

He's starting to get a little stale... even in the eyes of some hardcore Undertaker fans.

I still like The Undertaker but he's starting to wear thin. His gimmick is great but the deadman should be dead and buried. He could work in the backstage area with a tie and jacket and work as part of the crew after his career is long gone.

I mean 15 years is quite a long career. So,I wonder when his time will come when his career does officially end? What's gonna happen and I'm hoping they'll show a whole load of vintage video clips over the past 15-20 even before The WWF.This is going back to the days of WCW and ECW.WWF could make it sort of like a "This Is Your Life,Mark Calloway" ;D (a 2-hour special)

Did anyone happen to catch the WWE Hall of Fame special Saturday night? I taped it and just finisihed watching it. I have never been a Hulk Hogan mark, but I have a great deal of respect for his impact on wrestling. I don't think there's another wrestler who could elicit the kind of response the fans gave Hogan during his induction last night. It even brought the Big Show to tears.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper was entertaining, as well. His "I took some SERIOUS vitamins" (i.e. steroids/other drugs) might have been the line of the night.

I assume everybody, wwe mark or not, is looking forward to Wrestlemania tonight.

In theory, Bob should be bald by now.. my predictions have been about 85% spot on all year. ;D

Can't watch it here, i will have to wait for a couple of days and download it.. then when the DVD Comes out i'll buy that.

He He... Not much.

I can't bloody stand most Wrestling Web Sites they are so sodding negative. After an especially good PPV or something they will still find fault.

TNA & ROH have been phenominal most of the past year and a bit but now they are finding fault there. Pet Peeve of mine really.

Yeah tonight... good 4 and a half hour one i think. They are having a 30 Man Battle Royale that isn't going to be on the show so i assume they will have that before the actual event.

Aye, will take a couple days for it to be up to download. It's about the only thing i will download and still buy on DVD. However i'm not bloody waiting until midway through May to see it.

It was something to see (and hear), Bobby. Chants of "Hogan!, Hogan!", "Thank you, Hogan!", "One More Match!" and "Hogan-Austin" were all over the place. Unless it was edited, Hogan's speech didn't last nearly as long as the ovation he got.

I've always loved Piper. And Ric Flair said that last night, as he inducted Piper, that there are three guys in the business that you don't want to go toe-to-toe with verbally: Bobby Heenan, Arn Anderson and Piper.

Too True.

Especially Arn, he is a real legend, odd how he never really gets the accolades he deserves.

Last time i saw him was i think Wrestlemania 18 when he got the shi.t kicked out of him by The Undertaker.

This is off topic....off the walll

but I gotta post one of my all time favorite moments in wrestling history.

Bret Hart beats Roddy Piper for the Intercontenintal championship.

Roddy Piper during the match, was going to cheat a few times but the fans talked him out of it, and he showed his true colors after his loss by helping Bret up, putting the belt around his waist and showing a great deal of sportsmanship.

I remember this back in 1992, at the age of of 7, and just thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

Too bad wrestlers don't set examples like that anymore.....today Vince McMahon would have had Roddy would hospitalized Bret, then attacked his mother when she went to visit him.

What a Wrestlemania.. i managed to catch a webcast of a lot of it. Didn't bother with the last two matches, i can't imagine they would have been the best  ::)

Angle vs Michaels is easily a Match of all time candidate. We are talking Flair vs Funk, Savage vs Steamboat, Hart vs Austin kind of match here folks a sheer classic.

The Money in the bank match was exceptionally cool, even Taker vs Orton was IMO a top notch match.

Arn is the man. His cool demeanour in the ring is legendary. One of my favourite matches is 'The Hart Foundation vs The Brainbusters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard) at Summerslam 1989. How dare they start the event off with this calibre of a match!  :o

I'd like to see Angle lose to someone of legend caliber.

Lose to Jannetty, Undertaker, or Shawn....or even Flair....I'm sick of WWE trying to make Angle out to be what he clearly isn't and never will be: The best of all time.

Bret Hart...

AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!!!!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Bret the Hitman Hart take on Kurt Angle.

Perfect Ending to the match:  Have the match last a good 10-15 minutes. Have Angle use a cheap shot (Low Blow, chair, Salt in the eyes..ect..ect). Then start getting the best of Bret, where the fan's think that Angle is going to win the match. Have Angle hit his finisher, then go for the pin.  1...2....Angle picks Bret up by the hair. Bret is now facing Angle on his knees. Angle taunts the fans then slaps Bret. He does this a few times. Then a sudden burst of energy comes out of Bret from nowhere and he grabs Angles legs flipping him onto his back and putting him into the sharpshooter for the ultimate ending of an ultimate match.

Would that really happen? Most likely not, because it would be way to cool, and kick way to much a$$. WWE would probably have Angle win the match with a special pin or something.

I think that's a pretty large exaggeration.

I think it barley beat out the ladder match as best match of the night.  That being said, it was the best match of the night.

It was a pretty solid Wrestlemania overall.  I have no complaints, even though, right as I started getting a kick out of JBL, he loses the title.

It was pretty apparent that Cena had the Pop to get the belt.

The only thing that disturbed me was that there was only a crowd of 20,000???!!!  Was that for real??!!!

How long have they been playing Wrestlemania in such small venues?

I kinda feel that John Cena Or Batista won't keep the belts for much longer. You know how JBL and HHH cheat so I think they'll get back the belts by doing something illegal.I just have a feeling something bad will happen maybe by the next PPV or Summerslam.Let's see what happens within the next few months.

No,Al I don't watch PPVs like I used to in the late 80's-late 90's. :( Back then most of the PPVs were inexpensive and you could sit through them and when I was at my ex-girlfriend's house between 1997-1999 & she had illegal cable so I was able to tape the wrestling shows and bring them home with me afterwards. Now they're just way too expensive and my Father and I don't have time to watch 2-3 hours worth of crap that the next day they show you the highlights of the PPV anyway. It's no big deal whether I watch it or not.

When he hurt his neck he did his best to make Brock look good.

If I were to refuse to Job to Hogan I'd consider myself the cockiest, most concieted, arrogant pro wrestler of all time. Hogan has by far done more for pro wrestling than any other person. His passion and love for pro wrestling is beyond, anyone elses.

However if I were Kurt Angle, and money and fame were all I was in it for, then yeah I wouldn't have jobbed to Hogan either.

Because they have no respect, dignity or class.  It's why I disliked Bill Goldberg so much.  I believe strongly in paying your dues and working your way up to the top.  Neither Goldberg nor Angle have done that, although I think Angle is more appreciative of everyone kissing his a$$ than Goldberg ever was.

The way I look at wrestling is if the guy is playing a bad guy and you really hate him, then he's good, HHH makes people hate him so he's good. When you have watched it for as long as I have Jiminy, your perspective changes. When I was 10 years old (first watched a P-P-V: Wrestlemania 3), I guess it was a basic drive for the 'Good vs Evil' mentality. Now I am grown up, I need character in the plot lines (not realising this was what got me hooked into wrestling to start with) and that is from both heels and faces.

I don't hate HHH for the sake of hating him, I am just very bored of him. Also there is this unhealthy attitude that faces can only achieve greatness if they become heels. That is not positive feedback.

You're just now notcing that?  They've been taken third rate talent since 1997 and making stars out of them. Curt Hennig and Rick Rude used to complain about this all the time, and they were right.

IMO, I don't like Shane Douglas, Albert, Jeff Jarrett, Test - even Edge and Christian because they wouldn't have been worthy of being the successes they are since 1997 and it tells:

Shane had to jump ship to get wrestling success before coming back to the WWF to mess it up again (end of 1994/9?) and Jeff Jarrett got the intercontinental title at one stage but was a very average wrestler (anyone remember his debut at Royal Rumble 1994, lasting less than two minutes when Savage knocked him over the top rope?  ;D).

There are too many cry-baby's who concentrate on what's not important for the business's long-term success.

I agree with your conlsion but most of the wrestlers you mentioned are good wrestlers who are willing to take risks and bumps to make others and the company to look good.
I am no fan of The Franchise.. his ECW stuff was good, but in no way great. Ja-ha-reh-ha-ha--reh-het hasn't got all that much discernable talent, he just had a good gimmick.

Test & Albert.. neither of them will amount to anything great, but they are relativley solid workers, they can do the whole monster thing and are capable of selling for people and making them look good.

How in the blue hell can you say Edge & Christian don't deserve the spots they have. IMO it should be the other way around with Christian in Edge's postition. Both are fabulous athletes, both are willing to do pretty much anything, both make other workers look good. They are both exceptional workers, plus Christian is totally 'Captain Charisma'. He cuts exceptional promos and his facial expressions are priceless.

When is Christian gonna get his due?  You know I have been saying that since his first days with the WWE, simply because I thought he took the best bumps.  But for the past couple of years there have been rumblings, keep in mind I live in Canada, about CLB.

I think the Basic Instinct parody could have been the best thing to happen to his career since TLC.

I don't think wrestlers can afford to do otherwise. In a business like that, which has no union and no benefits, they have to look out for themselves -- because no one else is going to do that for them, including their peers. Of course they should take pride in their work, but they better try to get as much money as they possibly can, too.

Heheheh.... man this guy would be worth paying to see just for the theatrics..

The Warrior Attacks
By Joe Wentzel

What was to be a lecture on the differences between liberalism and conservatism became heated Tuesday when the man known simply as Warrior came to the Dodd Center.

The night quickly changed from a love fest over the Ultimate Warrior and his career in what was then known as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) to an attack on his personal beliefs. The Warrior - who Norm Moghtaderi, a 10th-semester sociology and history major, felt was homophobic and racist - was met with unhappy members of the Tent City protest group.

"People like this should not be allowed to spat this off without being countered," said Geoff Traugh, a 4th-semester peace studies and political science major.

The dispute between Traugh and Warrior escalated. Warrior screamed back and stomped on the stage saying questions would be answered during the question and answer segment.

Many people in the audience yelled and verbally attacked Warrior and his views during his hour-and-a-half discussion.

"How do you think, I feel I have to protect him," Maj. Sgt. Linda Killarney said. She called three other officers to the scene for backup. The crowd was warned if this was not stopped, it would end.

The College Republicans, who sponsored the event with the Undergraduate Student Government, said the organization was just trying to add another point of view to the discussion.

"We are truly sorry that the Warrior did not measure up to our standards," College Republicans Spokesman Heath Fahle said.

The group said they had worked hard to bring another view to add to respectful debates. They thought Warrior would represent news ideas after members saw him live. The organization felt compelled to send out a press release apologizing for the e vent.

"We do not feel that happened tonight," Fahle said. He said the College Republicans had wanted a respectful debate.

Warrior got an unfavorable response from the crowd when he discussed homosexuals.

"Queering don't make the world work," Warrior said.

He also discussed how all rights require responsibilities. He wanted people to know rights come with responsibilities. Traugh fired back with the comment life is a right that comes without responsibility.

Warrior's comments forced one man to yell at him and ask him to apologize to Moghtaderi. While listening to Moghtaderi, Warrior said he needed to get a towel. Moghtaderi is Iranian and his friend took offense, causing an outburst.
Warrior said America is a super power and being a super power hurt the liberalism debate. He argued there are no absolutes in liberalism.

"Don't fall for the lie that both sides are right," Warrior said. "Government won' t work unless people work."

The beginning video presentation itself showed sentiments about the war in Iraq. The video showed the Warrior ripping up the Iraqi flag. The video not only showed this event. It accented the event by showing it from four different camera angles.
Warrior also said he had taken steroids to keep up with the rigors of traveling on the road for wrestling and he that he was upfront with his steroid use and wanted other athletes to step forward.

"Yes, I did it to keep up with the road," Warrior said.

He discussed a story about a professional shot putter who worked out at his school. He said the shot putter never used steroids to get the No. 3 ranking in the world. But, he said to get to the No. 1 ranking, there was a different set of rules. Warrior said he never did steroids until he got to 295 pounds and then he never thought about it again.

After the event eased down, Warrior answered questions about wrestling. Students wanted to discuss the feeling of winning, if the matches were planned and if he was still in contact with Hulk Hogan.

The Warrior said he left the WWF after 12 years because of a dispute with Vince McMahon, who is the owner of what is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment. The dispute spurred a five-year legal battle, but the Warrior did not say who won.

The Warrior rose from simple beginnings. In high school, he was chosen as least likely to succeed. He told the audience the story of how a rusty workout machine became his friend. This machine changed his life.

"Exercise made the quality of my life better," Warrior said.

When all was said and done, Warrior said he felt that the event was a success. His associates also saw the event as an exchange of ideas. Many students waited outside the event. Many of them hoped to get one last glimpse of the man who had come to give a lecture. But they never did.

I love wrestling but I consider it a " sports soap opera ". No idea if that has been mentioned before 'cause I don't have 2 hours to scroll through 140 pages of comments. I will say it takes alot of physical shape, athletics, and acrobatics to do well and I consider it a sport, but one that has built up drama alot more than other sports.

I'm inclined to agree. Anyway, I like to think of him as he was back then. Defeating Hogan at Wrestlemania 6, Savage at Wrestlemania 7 - I always knew he was off his case. Probably one of the main reasons why I like him.  :)

I can't remember all that has been said, but that pretty much hits it. Professional wrestling, as it is presented today, probably has drawn more from the gladitorial events of Rome than from other competitive sports. I've read in a few places that Roman gladiators do many of the things that we see in the WWE... planning who's going to win, choregraphing fights, perhaps even blading (not sure about this for sure, but apparently they did use the blood of animals to fake injuries or even deaths. From what I understand, they rarely ever were seriously wounded/killed since doing so would leave them with a smaller pool of gladiators to choose from. If someone "died" they could simply put a mask on him and let him fight under a different name (again, we see similar things in professional wrestling.)

Speaking of which, have you seen the show Real Professional Wrestling, RnRF? I was watching it the other day and it was pretty cool. If you've not heard of it, it's basically a new televised "amateur" wrestling show pitting some of the best U.S. wrestlers (Olympic stature). I liked him, he did great old school promos and mixed old and new styles in the ring.

A great performer.

So then, what are everybodys opinions on the upcoming Draft Lottery?

I think Kurt Angle is supposed to be going to RAW
Batista might be going to Smackdown along with Shawn Michaels but nobody knows for sure yet.

Here's the truly sad side of it:   You can't put that past McMahon. If he thought it would jump the ratings and fatten his wallet, he'd be renting a backhoe and a shovel as we speak.

Who knows when Andre The Giant first became ill. It is noted that even at Wrestlemania 1, he was dodgy. He shouldn't really have wrestled at Wrestlemania 3 but McMahon could smell the money.

I'll never forget that time where I think Andre did a hiptoss to someone and he fell over to - quite painful to watch in retrospect.

How about the time in Japan, probably his last match, when he had diarreha and "ass bumped" Bad News Allen in the corner.

This actually happened?

I remember watching Andre's matches and he always looked like he was in really bad condition. He'd damn near fall over when trying to punch someone.

Just scroll halfway down this page and read the exerpt about Andre...

...brutal, you know when you have Bad News Allen leaving a match there had to be some though sh*t (excuse the pun) going down.

Wrestling should be character driven. If you can't get into the character, it doesn't matter who or how he beats someone up outside the ring, you won't care if he wins or not. :-\\

Case being 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan. The guy is a complete nutcase with a haphazard win/loss record but he was so enthusiastic in the ring, you couldn't help but get sucked in - yet the guy barely achieved a suplex!  ;D

Eddie was jealous of Ray Mysterio so much over one win at Wrestlemania 21 that all of this came to a boil and Eddie just went crazy on Ray by kicking, screaming, punching and even piledriving him on the stairs when half of his mask was ripped right off along with some blood dripping from his face.I'm hoping this angle will lead to Ray getting his mask right off of his face completely.

I said this once But I think it needs to be said again.

Started watching pro wrestling in 1988 at the age of 3. The town I'm from is the county seed so we get a lot of special educated people in our town. We have group homes and such. Most of them are great people, no doubt about that.  So with that said, I thought for the longest time that Jim Duggan was retarded.

Litteraly.

However, back in his hayday....if there were to be an actual REAL fight amongst those wrestlers....
Jim Duggan would have taken most of their heads off........He was an animal...

Hey I'm new here... I'm a fan of wrestling so I thought I'd post here. Did anyone see RAW tonight? I think they're turning Flair face. I'd really like Flair to go on one last small run that ends with a victory over Triple H at SummerSlam this year. Having Triple H tap out to the figure four would be great. But I'd want them to really let Flair loose. Don't have him come out and read some scripted promo. Let him say what he wants and let him be himself. I'd really like a Flair/Triple H confrontation on the mic... and Flair saying that to be the man you have to beat the man and Triple H is nowhere near close to being "the man". Have both Triple H and Flair go down the list of all of the legends they've beat through out the years. Flair: "I've beaten Sting, Hogan, Piper, Savage, Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes, Vader, all the greats."

I think it was part of a wrestling storyline. The Headbangers Mosh and Thrasher must've went their separate ways in late 1998 and one of them changed gimmicks. He became Beaver Cleavage but that gimmick went down the drain in 1999 so he became Chaz from New Jersey and brutalized his so-called wife.See back then gimmicks were so cheesy that after 1 or 2 failed changes, they left the WWF.

What a nightmare, ha ha! It's one of those things were you wonder what the script-writers were on, lol. Surely they must have realised that the idea was completely stupid and was never going to go anywhere.

I think you can blame Vince McMahon for that. ::)

I doubt it. He's like Terry Funk and Dusty Rhodes. It's in their blood. They will have to lose all their limbs if there is a chance of those guys bowing out gracefully, lol.

The question is when?

His character right now is trying to "find a friend"gimmick which is getting a pretty good decent reception from the fans.

I like it better than his old schtick, but they may be pushing too far away too fast. I don't mind him being friendl, but they're pulling him farther and farther away from him being demented. I think they should try to keep it someplace in between. Personally I thought it was more entertaining when he would deck someone then point to the guy and shout "He's my friend!" to the audience than him going down into the crowd and inviting little kids into the ring with him.

Nope, Kane took his mask off when he was teaming with RVD. RVD was upset with Kane hiding away from his demons and basically goaded him into getting rid of the mask (which ultimately resulted in Kane going ballistic on RVD).

Back during the Katie Vick incident, Kane was teaming with Hurricane. There was "documented footage" of Kane (HHH wearing a Kane mask) trying to get it on with the corpse at the funeral. Kane and Hurricane turned the tables on HHH after Kane beat the crap out of him... had footage of HHH (actually it was various pictures of HHH's face in front of some guy laying on a hospital table) having numerous large objects removed from a certain body cavity.

Professional wrestler's are among the most athletic people on this planet.  Pro wrestling in itself is no more fake than theatre, film, or stuntman activities.

The characterization, the choregraphy, among the many other talents they display is very real, even if the competition is not.

Not to mention, I'd rather pay to watch the likes of Pyscho Sid Justice, ACT, and I do mean ACT like a psycho, than I would watch Dennis Rodman of the NBA who really is a pyscho.

Incidentally, I saw Sid do a shoot interview out of kayfabe. That man is as normal as ever! LOL!!! What an actor!  :D

We need more like him who are confident in their own (performing) strengths. It's not enough just to see big men fart around the ring changing personality from one day to the next depending on the whim of the script writer.

I made my dad take me and my little brother to a live WWF event back in the 80's......

The main event was "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs "Ravishing" Rick Rude.  This was what we referred to as a "House show".....meaning that no titles ever changed hands because it wasnt televised and they could create their own back story to fit any occasion at one of those shows.
The other matches that night were Hillbilly Jim vs Bad News Brown, Demolition vs the Powers of Pain, and Tito Santana vs Greg "The Hammer" Valentine.

The first PPV I paid to see on TV was Wrestlemania 6.

I saw another House show where the Main Event was Sgt Slaughter(Champion at the time) accompanied by Sensational "Queen" Sherry vs. The Ultimate Warrior in a Steel Cage Match.
I also saw The Big Boss man vs The Undertaker (when he was brand-spankin new!)

It was almost 9 to 10 yrs later when I first went back to a live event....it was in Pittsburgh for an actual taping of Monday Night Raw is War.  It was awesome to see how it had changed so much since I was a kid......everything was on a grander scale.  I got to see The Rock, which was sweet.....back when he was the Champ for the 1st time (The CORPORATE CHAMPION).

You know, this card gets me more excited about wrestling than anything the WWE alone have provided for us in the last 3 years or so. 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan vs 'Ravashing' Rick Rude must have been so entertaining to watch.

Dare I say it, the prospect of watching Slaughter and Warrior face off in a steel cage after that Royal Rumble 1991 fiasco is an interesting one too (especially with Slaughter's incredible ability to bump). It's funny seeing the Bossman vs Undertaker card there as it reminds me of their hell-in-a-cell match at Wrestlemania 15 (one of the worst if I remember correctly  ::) ;D).

The show was on last night and it was pretty good! Lots of nice cars and motorcycles and kind of a history of sorts. Eg. they talked about how the Hell's Angles customized their own bikes but companies like Harley Davidson were against their styles. Today pretty much all motorcycle styles have been influenced by those 70s biker group customized bikes.

Okay...they are in great shape and they are great "Actors" and yes they for the most part, are decent people...my ONLY complaint is that they whine that they should be considered a real and serious "Sport"....no, no. I also AGREE that the likes of Rodman give real  sports a bad name...but just like there are good people in "Wrestling" "Real" sports have thier share of decent people as well ;)

As far as a$$holes and decent people that is as Jesse Fredrick would say, "everywhere you look".

I'm not sure of how many of them actually do that nowadays. I'll admit that there was considerably more of it back 80s and perhaps early 90s, but with so many fans "in the know" nowadays the idea of them whining about being a real "sport" is laughable. They WILL argue about the amount of athleticism required to perform and get upset if people diss that athleticism.

You didn't answer my earlier question, so I don't know if you've seen it. There's a show on ESPN you might be interested in call "Real Professional Wrestling" (think that's the name). Anyway, it's basically an attempt to get more people to watch "amateur" wrestling in a more big-time celebrated style so that the true sport of wrestling might achieve more popularity (least, that's my impression). The wrestling is real, with many of the people being olympic hopefuls or even previous olympic contenders. That being said, it's sort of like watching just the wrestling part of the olympics. If you've not seen it, you might want to check it out. Think it typically shows on the weekend.

Yeah, that shocked the crap outta me. I think that we might see Batista on Smackdown.

It does make sense to have Cena on Raw, after all, on cable he can say pretty much what he wants.

Plus ++++ ECW Invasion!! I really really hope the WWE do exceptionally well with the ECW Pay Per View and possibly bring in some old ECW Talent. I doubt it though.

CM Punk one of the biggest stars on the Independent scene has also signed with WWE (or is very close to doing so) If you haven't seen him he's outstanding, I would say there are only two or three better workers on the Indy scene. Plus of course Mr Styles  ;D
