Let's have Foley (or the Rock) come back and shut Hassan up at WM. Heck, if they let Hassan win it might help his legitimacy, though I'd rather have him lose. Although I knew Kane was going to be the 6th man, I'd hoped for a second that they might have changed plans and used a surprise person for the 6th. Get a Hardy back in, or Sting, or something...

Yeah, you'd think with Hassan and his toadie double-teaming Benoit a couple weeks back that something more would have spawned from that. Then again, I think Hassan was complaining on the last RAW that he wasn't in the ladder match (and thus, couldn't win a chance at the title). Given that Benoit IS in the ladder match, maybe they could work some build up there in the next week or two, or have Hassan cost Chris the win at WM and carry on from there...

The powers that be were looking at having them fued up until Mania, however in there match it was deemed that they didn't click. Now that dosen't mean to rule it out, i can see what you say there happening, but they didn't want to risk a match that may or may not work, at Wrestlemania.. and to be honest i'm glad they didn't, i'd rather have Benoit in a huge 6 man ladder match, than a weak to middleing 12 min bout against Hassan.

So,that means Chris Benoit will be in the ladder match entitled"Money In The Bank".Who do you think should win this one? I don't understand why in the hell do you have to put freakin' Kane in there? ::) What does he have to do with a ladder match? ::)

Kane & The Hurricane won the first ever TLC Match on Raw. It's interesting to see different kinds of wrestlers in these big matches. I think Jericho or Christian should win, but i think Edge Will win.

Kurt angle is the stupidest wrestler ever, last night( march 10) on smackdown he did a ladder match with some guy. He beat the guy to sheesh, then tortured him more, when he was up the ladder i sorta wished that someone would hvae came out and knocked him off the ladder.

The thing you have to remember is this.. although you may not like the gimmick they have.. look past it.. look at there wrestling talent. You may not like chris benoit when he talks but when he wrestles against say.. Kurt Angle it's a great match. They can both be jerks but it is fantastic to watch them wrestle. Do you think that Vince McMahon really gives a crap about Marty Jannetty anymore? This is not The Rockers era anymore. All he cares about is gimmicks nowadays and putting people over.Marty Jannetty never really had much of a gimmick except for The Rockers for 2-3 years(1989-1991(2) then in the late 90's(1996-1997) with Al Snow,Leif Cassidy. That's about it.

Not a lot of people enjoy this Wrestlemania, Howard but for me it was something else because it was the only time I know where the WWF had used real life events to mirror what was going on in the ring effectively (Gulf War in 1991). With that kind of context to a match, I knew I was watching history.
As it happened, I enjoyed the main event, it did what I expected it to. There was no need for the pathetic rematch at Summerslam 1991 (I'm presuming this was payback for the 'fireball in the locker room incident').

He managed to fully get over by Survivor Series 1991 (what after three or four months?). A man that caused so much anger (and he did as a heel) and hatred to his country as well as the fans suddenly becomes a face, I just don't get it. Slaughter was capable of using his 'heel' status to more infamy. As it happens, he became a joke and took part in filler matches until Wrestlemania 8. Obviously he is now an 'official' (whatever role that is) and has wrestled part time since but that was the last P-P-V he wrestled as a full-time WWF wrestler.

Hmmm.. there is room for both schools of thought, that's why i am not toooo unhappy about Triple H gaining backstage power... ok fine, maybe he does abuse it, but the guy knows what is entertaining... and in 3-4 years when he is finished.. he will make sure the business isn't.

Hmmm. I beg to differ about HHH knowing what is entertaining.
Recently WWE Programming has got better.. at the moment he and steph are calling the shots.. i hate to stick up for him.. but alas it's true.

Slaughter, DiBiase, Steamboat.. they all work backstage.
Mainly as agents for the wrestlers, sorting out matches etc, making sure everyboby knows what is going on.
How come I haven't seen Steamboat out to help any of the wrestlers from harm or injury? ???

Decent RAW tonight so far as guests are concerned. First Jake "The Snake" Roberts came out to have a chat with Randy Orton about not speaking out of his ass (ie, not getting in over his head against the Undertaker). Ultimately it resulted in Jake getting hit with the RKO, but Jake hit him with the short clothesline and had him set up for the DDT before it happened. Sucks really, since Jake has, imho, the best DDT in the business and it would have been nice to see it. Didn't get to see the snake either. :(
Secondly, Marty Jannetty showed up and he and Shawn Michaels teamed up as The Rockers to take on La Resistance. Jannetty looked good, still quick and still has the moves despite not quite making his knip-up (landed on one foot and one knee). Good old-fashioned Rocker double teaming, though they didn't come off the ropes in the corner like they used to do. Did do the double dive over the ropes, double hip-toss to the double elbow, double dropkicks, and all that good stuff. They even finished with Jannetty dropping the Rocker Dropper while Shawn his the other opponent with the super kick. Fun stuff. :)

I wanna kick myself in the a double s. I've been praying for a Rocker reunion since 1992, and more than 10 years later God grants my prayer and I don't even watch it. Oh man, it woulda took me back to the time I loved pro wrestling, I can't believe I missed it.

It sounds like I missed a lot, Kryllith. I'm surprised Jake is on there considering his views on the wrestling business and the WWE. I'm gonna have to try to get hold of that match somehow. The Rockers teaming up (even if it's for only one night) IMO is definitely the shocker of the year.

Jake Roberts was telling Randy Orton to not make the same mistake like I did 13 years ago.Jake was just about to DDT him and show the snake but Randy RKO'd him and knocked Jake outcold.
Marty Jannetty was there for one night only as he teamed with his old partner Shawn Michaels to defeat La Resistance.
despite their aging,The Rockers looked pretty good for 2005.
This RAW should get excellent ratings but we'll see when it comes in.

I was suprised to see Jake Roberts last night. :o He has aged a whole lot but his DDT is still as powerful as it was 13 years ago.
I kinda marked out for him yesterday. And also for Marty Jannetty. He must be in his 40's now but I was glad The Rockers reunited for one night. It was kinda better than The Legion Of Doom in 2003 ::)

I was shocked to find out that most of my favourites have either died or they have killed themselves.
Anywho, back to something that actually relates to this topic, recently there was a stupid British wrestling thing at my local leisure centre which said the real Jake "The Snake" Roberts from WWF (now WWE) would be there.... I went along, only to find out it was a tubby lard with a snake.

That's very common in Britain. I think it's disgusting and doesn't increase anybody's enjoyment (especially when people don't get what they expect). Incidentally, Jake had been doing a lot of touring in UK (I've seen him twice alone) and I wonder whether he left the promotion unexpectedly.

Roddy Piper vs Randy Orton would be a great match. The only problem is, Roddy has slowed down and put on the weight since 1992, I'm not sure he can put out the required workrate against somebody such as Orton. It would be nice to see, even if it's to say 'Well, I don't want to see that again!' ;D
The last I heard of Earthquake he was fighting cancer. I doubt there is any chance that match-up would occur. He has lost weight since and is not quite the heavyweight he used to be 14 years ago. This might lose my interest in what potentially could be an interesting encounter (I remember the square off between Earthquake and Yokozuna at Royal Rumble 1993. Second to Mr Perfect eliminating Ric Flair, that got one of the biggest pops of the night - it goes to show how WWF had sunk in just a year).

I haven't posted on this thread before, and I'm certain you've discussed this topic before, but I was looking through some wrestling legends sites and was shocked to find out how many pro wrestlers that I remember from the 80's are dead now. What really troubled me was how many of them died of heart attacks and drug overdoses while they were in their 30's and 40's. Do you think steroids had anything to do with this?

Hmmm. The problem with interview slots is that they are getting bloody boring these days. You can guess before it takes place that someone is going to do their special move on someone else by the end of it. ::)
I wonder who the next superstar legend to be on The Highlight Reel will be? I'm thinking of Jimmy Snuka,Hulk Hogan or Roddy Piper. ;D

Steroids do contribute massively to the risk of heart attacks, AL-B.

I just recently saw the dog collar match he had with Roddy Piper. That was brutal! These guys looked like they wanted to kick each other's arses, lol. I think that's what makes most of us wrestling fans sad, Chica. We know these guys are old and can't deal with what they did ten or twenty years ago. Unfortunately, wrestling is a different kettle of fish sense then and so are the wrestlers. Wrestlers are motivated to provide different things now (like soap opera style sleaze drama and high spot routine wrestling). Back in the day, consistent character and subtle nuances within the match made more satisfying viewing.

Haha, you saying Mr. America wasn't a great idea?? :P
So I was watching Smackdown last night and I noticed that Kirt Angle is still going with the, "from the past" scenario with HBK.
Am I freaking out or is this leading up to Bret Hart screwing HBK over at Wrestlemania? I mean who is a bigger part of his past. Yah, Janetty was there, that was cool, and Sensational Sherri was as well, but who is the biggest thing from his past? Well I would say the Hitman, and if Angle keeps pulling peeps out of the past I think it is going to lead up to that.
I don't want to get myself excited because I would have a mixed reaction to Hitman returning, but am I thew only one that thinks this is where they are headed?

Well officially Bret Hart isn't supposed to be at Wrestlemania. However, he is going to be in the Los Angeles area signing autographs at RVD's comic book store during the weekend of Wrestlemania. Read into that anyway you want. Oh, and from interviews I've read, Hart has indicated that a dream match of his would be to face Angle (and I believe Angle reciprocated), so toss that into the mix as well...

Well,I'm thinking Bret will be there to interfere in sort of way in the Kurt Angle/HBK match.I have a bet on it. ;D
Yup, that's what I was thinking too.
And with Bret being in LA, and the respect Angle has shown Hart after he parted ways with the WWF, which I completely forgot about, it almost seems like it is too much of a coincidence.

I think in my opinion Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan were the 2 most popular wrestlers that got screwed in any which way that was possible for Vince McMahon to get rid of them.
How did Hogan get screwed by McMahon? ???

I'm forgetting how he got screwed.I guess it was because of all the stupid things he did like getting dressed up as Mr.America was one of them. ::)

I'm having a thought where Bret and Shawn team up to help beat the crap out of up Angle towards the end and then you see Bret and Shawn raise each other's hands with each other and the crowd is completely stunned. How do you like that scenario?

Hogan left the WWE because he wanted creative control over it. It couldn't have been that bad for him. Besides, for Hulk Hogan's money, would you wear a mask? It's worked for Rey Misterio Jnr. ;D

I probably wouldn't wear a mask so I wouldn't embarass myself. ;D

Gotta disagree.. I love Angle, plus you of all people must admire how much he has done for Amatuer Wrestling.
By learning about what he did, i got interested. I'm sure he has turned a lot of kids on to wrestling.

He hasn't done anything more for amateur wrestling than any other person. He won a Gold medal at the 1996 Olympics in freestyle. Well so did Tom Brands. 100's of Americans have won Medals at the olympics, Kurt was one of them.
I'm not sure whether you mean wrestling as in professional or college. Professional he has proven himself in the ring, he's got great talent and his arsenal is hard to match up. I personally think he sucks outside of the ring, his interviews are extremely redundant and his stuttering drives me up the wall.
As far as turned a lot of kids on to amateur wrestling, he did no such thing. In fact before he started working for the WWE, he thought that he'd make a fortune having "Angle" camps at Clarion University. Unfortunately for Angle and his flawless plan, few kids showed up in Clarion, Pennslyvania that summer and he actually ended up spending more money than he made.

Hmmm, maybe i'm mistaken. Fair enough.
I know for a fact that My interest was partially as a result of seeing Angle. I thought wow, he is a great athlete. Of course because he is on TV every week and the WWE really rams the Olympic history down your throat it gives Freestyle Wrestling a lot more exposure than it would have.. that was my thought.
I wasn't aware of his camps. I knew he coached at Clarion after he graduated, didn't know about the camps however.

Angle was one hell of a college wrestler as well. He was one of the smallest Heavyweights to ever win a national title. He won the National title his Sophomore and Senior season. He made the finals his junior season, but lost to a heavyweight from I believe Illinois.

Yeah, he was a bogey man for Angle, i think he was the person who broke his winning streak at like 68.. some way short of Gables.

Dan Gables win streak was either 100 or 101...not sure before his loss to Larry Owings of Washington in the 1970 finals.
Then you have Iowa State's Cael Sanderson's 159 win streak with 0 losses all four years of Division I varsity wrestling.
Then we have Pat Smith of Oklahoma State who won 4 National Titles but lost five matches during his career.
A lot of people thought that Lincoln Mclravy would be the first undefeated 4 time national champion, but he suffered a loss at the Midlands wrestling tournament during his freshman campaign and there went that idea. People still thought that he could be the next 4 time National champion with a few losses after he won his second title as a sophomore, but Steve Marienetti of Illinois screwed that as he recorded one of the largest upsets in the history of College wrestling when he downed McLravy in if I remember right, Iowa City.
But that's going off on a tangent, we were talking about Angle, and his amateur career.

I, like a lot people, think Flair should have hung his boots up when WCW went down. It would have been fitting in some ironic way. Undertaker is showing age now and can't continue the dead man image for too long and Shawn . . . Well, he's still got it in him providing he doesn't slash his face up every match. ::)

I think Undertaker should be pinned at his 15th anniversary this year.Would you believe he's been in the WWF that long? :o
I'm seeing signs of gray on his hair and beard so you can tell he must be in his early 40's.
He could be in Hall Of Fame soon.
