I don't have DSL because there is only one company that has it in this area-Verison and we really don't want to deal with them. We are hoping that our little internet company will have it soon in this area-they have it in other places. But, our little company just got bought out so who knows.  ::)

channels.  Sometimes I look at the listings to see what I would watch if I had it, 99.99% of the time there isn't anything I would go out of my way to see, so why pay $50 a month not to see it.

Because the company that were installing cable locally were too incompetent to do the job properly.  A few weeks after asking them to do the job and being constantly told "tomorrow" or "at the end of the week" we cancelled it.  Then the next day (a Sunday) we had to stop the guys who had come round to install the cable from digging up the pavement.

It's too bad some areas in this country (USA) can't get decent DSL service to people. DSL is so simple. I hooked the thing myself. Easy as pie. And the technology doesn't seem as complicated as the darn cable company coming out and charging more limbs than I can allow.. lol.

What I don't understand is SBC keeps telling me that DSL is not available to me, yet the house catacorner behind me and the houses on either sides of me have it ???  We're all connected to the same lines ::)


Yeah, you should be completely entitled to it. I have SBC/Yahoo and they just sent a box to me and I hooked it up myself. Call them up again and have them send it to you. Maybe they've lost some marbles or something. (You can always send the box back at no expense).

I just got a phone call from someone and have to vent >:( >:(

My sons are involved in Cub Scouts.  Well, we've been asking for volunteers ALL YEAR (since August) to help us plan the pack meetings, etc. and NOONE has shown up except for those of us who have been doing this since last year.  Well, last night, someone finally did and they actually have some good ideas and KNOW what they're doing.  So, I just got a call from the wife who told me that some of the den leaders are "boycotting" the pack meetings because they feel like they show up, get a piece of paper read to them and that's it.  Well, if they are so unhappy with how we run the meetings, where the hell are they when we PLAN the meetings?  At EVERY pack meeting, the next committee meeting is announced, it's on the calendar, as well as the website.  If they think we should be doing something different, why the hell haven't they brought it up in the 7 months we've been ASKING for suggestions?  I am so sick of the apathetic attitude in this town where people want their kids to have the best experience in EVERYTHING, but they aren't willing to step up and help to ensure that happens.  They all have an excuse:  I have other kids, my husband works alot, yada, yada, yada.  Well, guess what people?  I have 3 kids, my husband not only WORKS alot, but he's usually out of town, I am the chairperson for the Market Day program at the school, AND I am going back to school but I still manage to find time to do something, even if it's not alot.  If one of my kids has a meeting or something that I have to be at, the other 2 get dragged along when hubby's out of town or late.  I have stayed up all night finishing projects, typing reports, etc.  THEN, they complain that it is costing "so much money" and they think the $25 they paid at the beginning of the year is going to cover EVERYTHING....well, guess what people?  Activities cost $ and if noone's willing to do the fundraisers to RAISE the $ or donate supplies to DO things, then yeah, it's going to cost extra.  If they're not willing to step up and help or even just offer some ideas, then they just need to shut their pie holes. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Try getting into CD/DVD packageing with the plastic AND the label of the product on the openings of the CD/DVD.  It's so impossible to get those things.

My mini-cassette recorder that I use for class notes came in one of those d@mn packages...yeah, they might deter a shoplifter or two, but having to use brute force to open the thing after you bought it absolutely sux! But i grabbed a steak knife and got it open that way.

I know where you're coming from KKay. I always have people telling me "You're so skinny" or "Do you eat?" or "You're So lucky" It's like, "Yeah, I'm skinny - Yeah, I eat - And No, I'm not THAT lucky" GET OVER IT! I eat normal stuff, I don't regularly exercise (although I do regular activities like taking stairs instead of taking the elevator/escalator; walking to some places instead of driving, etc.). One person once wrote in a Reader's Digest sort of publication that if people who always commented on how skinny someone was would actually confront someone about how fat they were with the same remarks. It isn't fair on both ends, I believe.


That used to happen to me alot where I used to work... people would say things like "what do you weigh, 120 pounds?"  and I actually weighed 160.. I'm tall, so if I weighed 120 I would look sick and anorexic.  And then there were plenty of people that really were "skinny" and they were always whining "I'm so faaaat"  God that got on my nerves. >:(

The fact that our property manager(Diversified Property Management) does not get our sidewalks and parking lots free of ice in a timely manner! My roomate and I get supportive services from a mental-health housing program, and even they have talked to the property managers about this problem..DPM just ignores it..right now my right hand and wrist are severely sprained and I have to wear a half-cast until the sprain heals..thanks to ice in the parking lot that was supposed to be taken care of...anyone else here have to deal with bad property managers/landlords?

If I broke my wrist I would have sued the bastards!    >:(

One of my dearest friends, Sherry, for going off her nut and deciding I am a contempible SOB unworthy of her friendship...and refusing to tell me why!  Man, I finally ran into her today at the bustop and she treated me like I was her mean ex-boyfriend.  I mean...we were never sweethearts, just close friends.  She made several overtures in the romantic direction to which I did not reciprocate.  Maybe that's the problem.  After three years of overtures--never once saying "Hey, Max, wanna go out with me"--she finally got so fed up she's cutting me out of her life! 
She's an oddball, but so am I!  I just wouldn't start treating a close friend like she was the devil incarnate and refuse to tell her why! 
I thought she was gonna start screaming at me on the bus if I didh't leaver her alone, so that was that.  Sheesh!  And we're really great friends...or so I thought.  Maybe her mental health is just deteriorating and it's got nothing to do with me.

Gee, uh maybe because it's live and they have no way of knowing what's going to happen next. They don't know, do they? Maybe it's all choreographed the day before. Or maybe the advertiser paid for a commercial at that point in time. Or maybe it's just to piss you off. :)

Duhh, was I in the wrong to ask that question?
The problem is that sometimes Fox Sports seems to forget showing replays of anything big that happened in the race during the commercial break. NBC never misses anything, they show what happened after the commercials are done...and yeah, I think ads actually are controlled during sports stuff by the network's master control which is usually in New York or Los Angeles...I don't think the sports director overseeing the televised race(or football, hockey, basketball, or baseball games) has any say as to when to cut to commercials.

I'm so sick of dealing with people who don't know what they're doing.  I am the chairperson for our Market Day sale at the school and was told by 1 person to turn EVERYTHING in to the PTO treasurers (there are 2).  Now, I have the other one asking me for records of my deposits, which I don't have because I was told to turn them in, because they have 2 deposits that they don't know where they came from.  I know it's partially my fault because I should have kept copies of everything, but I didn't keep copies of the first couple of deposits and my numbers for the others don't match up with theirs.  I just thank god that I don't have to do this next year ::)

That's a genetic thing in one part of the family, thankfully I didn't pick it up.

on the other side, i had a teacher of "non-euclidean geometries" -- an incredibly weird 400-level math class i took in undergrad, and failed -- who had that big bushy einstein hair and didn't believe in erasers, so he would just clean the blackboard with his hand and then rub his hands frantically through his hair and wipe them on his shirt while he yammered crazily about curved space and half planes and straight lines that were really circles. by the end he was covered in chalk. it was sorta cute.

Oh...annoying professors...in Survey of Musical Theater (um,,, yeah, I never took non-euclidean geometries as a Theater Arts major) the teacher was a really old angry guy...we were looking at slides and then suddenly a Shelly Winter's giant face fills the screen...he starts screaming and cursing her and something about ruined carreer...up at the screen so her face is projected onto his angry twisted mug...then it was gone and he calmed down.  My genius friend at the slide projector went forward two and then back to Shelly... the mayhem began angain and we all had a great laugh. Here i am talking about it 20 years later!

Using Internet Explorer without a half dozen anti-virus and anti-spyware programs is like having lots of unprotected sex with total strangers (not that I know what that's like, at least not the "lots" part!)
My computer got cyber-AIDS awhile back because of malignant viruses I picked up netsurfing with no anti-virus programs.  It took the guys at the computer shop many a billable hour to clean up the mess!

Having been in that situation I can tell you that sometimes you have to do that to keep the company alive.  If the company dies then benefits are not less, they are ZERO.  :o

Just ask the 100,000 retirees from LTV Steel who no longer have pension health benefits because they were too proud to "cave in".  Eventually somebody bought the plant out of bankruptcy and the union accepted wages far lower than what LTV would have offered (and were rejected by the Union).  :-\\

My favourite was when my EU Passport was rejected. Thankfully I had US I.D on me at the same time.. my point was.. "Hold on, this is a valid passport, a PASSPORT, what happens if someone from somewhere else needed I.D, you're telling me if you're from Canada you don't have the right to make certain purchases in the U.S?"

Seems pretty stupid to me. Isn't it easier to obtain a fake driver's license than a military ID? Like you said a driver's license is not an ID. Besides, what can say more "Patriot" than serving in the military? I remember using my military ID to cash/write checks and it was always readily and gladly accepted.

I can see that.  However it is not a company pension and it's not over the amount in the pension fund.  We are classed as local government employees.  Other local government employees in different sectors were threatened with the same changes to their pensions and instead had them guaranteed not to be altered.  For some reason they want to change ours.  the main issue is over retiring early with no detriment to your pension providing you have sufficient number of years service (something I will qualify for).

If it was film, even with everything and extra lenses, I wouldn't have gone over $250. I have an old AV-1, also a Minolta Maxum 5000j, someday I'll splurge for a digital SLR.

Most motorists in general annoy me. They don't let you filter into their lines by going really fast, and when you do filter behind you they slow to a crawl - pretty strange. And alot of other things. That's why we are supposed to be the worst drivers in the country.

What really annoys me is when I'm giving out the karma,  I forget who I've applauded and then i get that stupid error message. Arrgghh!
