Never had it, but apparently it just has to be 'on the turn' (i.e., 'going slightly rancid') before it gets eaten...!! Very odd...

Did you know in some states that people can take a deer that is 'roadkill' for themselves? I would not even TOUCH anything that's 'roadkill' much less EAT it!
God help me... I would have never touched it. I think I hit it's legs as it was hard to miss, he was SO large! Maybe in some of those backwoods states where hunting and roadkill are all the same that sorta thing goes, but hopefully in California that isn't allowed. And if it were, I wouldn't be the first person out there going for what I just killed.. :D

At the moment I am annoyed with pedestrians who can't be bothered to walk on the path but instead walk either in the road next to the path or in the road across from the side with a path; cyclists without lights, especially ones who cycle the wrong way down a one way street; people who think the "no parking on roads unless indicated" rule doesn't apply to them; creationists who refuse to properly think about what the theory of evolution is. There's more but that will do for now

New Jersey Transit. They seem to have a chronic lateness problem with their buses. Particularly the 508 Line bus that serves my area. I can see lateness because of traffic and school buses..but over TEN MINUTES late, regularly? Come on. I've told NJ Transit about it and a lot of other riders did too..but nothing is done to correct the situation.
I cannot drive due to all the meds I take.

Going to the Social Security office in my area and having to wait in the freezing cold for the security guard to open the building!
And they are supposed to open the place at 8:30 AM(they start seeing people at 9 AM but they open the doors early so people can get their stuff like paperwork and ID ready)!
I go early because if I go later I have to wait for hours just to get an income printout!

I know exactly what you mean. I've dealt with SS hear in MA and they pull the same sh*t. They're worse than the RMV, they go out of their way to be unfriendly, and on top of it they add an element of shame. No matter what kind of hell you've lived through, our government treats you like garbage if you're not rich. Governments who treat their citizens this way have a history of going down in rivers of blood!

These are just from my trip to the supermarket this lunchtime.
drivers who don't know why someone painted a yellow box on the road.
shoppers who take up the whole aisle with their trolley whilst they are picking over the veg
drivers who park up and then sit in the car with their engine running the whole time. One guy was doing this when I arrived and was still sat there when I'd done my weekly shop.
people who don't stack their trolleys correctly so I have to visit four different trolley stands before I can find on I can put my trolley in and get my

Last time I went to the Social Security building they had really foul looks on their faces. I guess that's what you've got when you've dealt with people all day through goverment work.
More service workers would be foul more of the time if the could get away with it. It's the government monopoly on government services. If the counter help is totally rude at the Java Barn, you can just go to the Bean Counter instead. That's why management in the private sector insists on at least a modicum of politeness.* When it comes to the government, there's just one Registry of Motor Vehicles. You can't go to Becky's Registry if they guys at Ed's Registry are nasty.
*I must add one caveat. In college towns and beatnik regions there's sometimes a rude chic. For instance, I went into the Javanet Cafe in Northampton (Mass.) yesterday and there were three hideous young d*kes behind the counter adorned in nasty tattoos and piercings, dropping f-bombs and ignoring customers. I almost left, but then the one d*ke managed a "may I help you?" They don't seem to understand they're right next to Starbucks. Starbucks is ungroovy because it's a huge corporate chain BUT the service is always prompt and polite. I'd tell the Javanet manager if his people don't shape up, I'm going to buy from Starbucks, but why bother? I'll let my cash do the talking!

I sorta like public enemy, the fu-schnickens (I bet nobody remembers the fu-schnickens! They did this super-fast auctioneer-style rapping, they were very good), disposable heroes of hipoprisy are good too. And there was some band in the late 80s early 90s, did kinda a rap-rock psychedelic crossover thing, danged if I can remember their name. Anyway, they were good. But yeah, most rap doesn't do much for me.

A lot of old school rap from Grandmaster Flash to Public Enemy to Ice T had some real trenchant social commentary, and laid down some excellent grooves while they were at it. There are still such artists out there in the rap/hip-hop genre, but you won't see them on MTV or BET. Most of mainstream rap is just sh*t.
I even have a guarded respect for 2Live Crew, but only in the way I have a guarded respect for Larry Flynt. Yes, they were misogynistic, vulgar, and pornographic, but they fought the greater danger--the Christian Right and the censor monkeys--and won. In that sense they did a service. As for the 13-year-olds reciting 2Live Crew's x-rated lyrics and the inundation of lame-o copycat porno-rap that followed 2LC in the '90s, it all makes me sick!

People who focus on negative aspects of minority cultural life to the point that they allow themselves to be annoyed by it. Alot of what you say is true, but it doesn't annoy me because I don't give it time. Causcasian youth co-opting minority youth culture is nothing new, it happened with Jazz and Rock and Roll. It is quite telling that Rock and Roll was know as ni**er music by anglo culture until Elvis and Jerrry Lee, just as Rap is considered the same; the language is much more guarded, but the sentiment is the same.

I was away at the weekend and came home to a card through my door to say I had a parcel waiting for collection, now that in itself was pretty good as recently they haven't even been bothering to put a card through the door !
Anyways my other half goes up there before work yesterday and they can't find the parcel so they took his number and said they would phone him after they had asked the guy who tried to deliver it where he had put it, except they didn't phone.So he went back up there today and they kept him waiting for 25 minutes which made him late for work, just to confirm the parcel is now 'lost'. That on top of the other two which they 'lost' for me last week and still haven't found yet.So now I'm three items down.Apparently there were piles of parcels and packages everywhere, just in big heaps in the loading bay with guys standing round talking and smoking...........

New Jersey Medicaid wanting to keep me on their program when I am well enough to not need County services and will be attending college full-time. I got a call from them and the man I talked to was sooooo dam patronizing. He talked to me like I'm some dumba$$ fool who is incapable of taking care of my health...and my own business. Needless to say, I e-mailed NJ Medicaid and told them as civil as i possibly could what I AM capable of and that I'm not some foolish nutcase that needs 'hand-holding' all the time!

When the power goes out and lo-and-behold it happens when I'm on the Net..my computer turns itself off (I think it's a precautionary measure built into modern era PCs to keep 'em from crashing, bigtime)..it's annoying when I'm on a message board, downloading music via BearShare, or I'm in a chatroom...but hey, can I help it if the electric company screws up or some fool hits a pole with his or her Hummer?
When I'm trying to burn a CD using Windows Media Player, and it rejects the dam CD-R or CD-RW saying "Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to CD. Check that the disc is clean and not scratched,or select a slower recording speed" I'm beginning to wonder if it's time to install a new CD-RW drive..or if the discs are REALLY flawed,since my drive does record some blank CD-R's and CD-RW's without a problem...

I have a floppy drive like that. I think it's either dirty or has a woogy write protect sensor. Have you tried cleaning the drive? Maybe the optics are dusty?

This is why Medicaid annoys me...they hound me about not wanting to do what they think I should do, they think I should go to a day program for one day a week EVEN THOUGH I SAY I'M GOING TO COLLEGE...and my mental-health staff as well as my psychiatrist support me going to college full time, which in all honesty they would not agree with if there was any question about my mental or physical health being an issue....I wish that the folks at Medicaid would come clean about it if they don't trust me going to college, that they think I'll have a breakdown or heart attack or something...I'd rather hear 'We at Medicaid don't trust that you can do it!' than have this hanging over my head!

Honestly what bugs me is that I plan to go with Medicare Part D(Medicare drug coverage with a one or three dollar(US) copay)..I didn't like going to a day program anyway. It's all things I've learned/done millions of times. Been there done that.

hey, I'd be happy to have any sort of insurance, as I haven't had any in years...and my medical bills are stacked to the ceiling. It would be nice to have that comfort that if something happened to me, I wouldn't have to worry about paying the thousands of dollars back.
I think if you look online there's doctor recommended site that gives you the breakdown of medical insurances to choose from depending on your situation. I think it's called EInsurance. I tried looking for some insurance for my boyfriend because he's currently without any himself. I have double coverage right now due to my job and that I'm still eligible with my dad's insurance up until 2007 (when I turn 25). But, I worry to death that my boyfriend is walking around without any... so I keep urging him to get some - just anything, lol.

Mapquest isn't much better.....whenever anyone uses it to get to my house via the tollway, it tells them to turn on a road that no longer exists and was NEVER a "legal" thoroughway (hence the 2 "DO NOT ENTER" signs on either side) to begin with.....then going from my house to the tollway, it tells you to turn left onto a road that you can't turn left onto (unless you drive OVER the median) ;D

Those computer map services are terrible for urban locales, especially here in the east. Any sizable town in the Northeast has a myriad of one-ways, dead-ends, do-not-enters, exitless overpasses, streets with two names (eg. Route 202 OR Wilbraham Rd.), all of which make ANY map confusing. I find computer map systems do a poor job of illustrating all the "can't-get-there-from-here" scenarios in urban driving.
Now, if I go to Boston, I park outside the city and take mass transit. This makes the whole trip much simpler UNLESS you're going to be there until late at night, then the whole bloody system shuts down and you have to drive in anyway.
You could take a bus in a city such as Lawrence or Holyoke, but it would be quicker to just stay home, stick the knife between your own ribs, steal your own wallet, and call the ambulance yourself!

A few of the new commercials on t.v.
especially the one advertising K-mart's portable DVD player. It has a family going on a trip, parents in front seat of car and two little girls SCREAMING and ARGUING and SCREAMING some more in the back seat, neither parents blinks an eye. When I was little, I wasn't even allowed to raise my voice or snap my fingers on a car trip. I'd have gotten smacked upside my head. While I'm not condoing that kind of behavior now, the commercial still annoys me. ::)

Ya, I found one or two over the past month or two...but today I was looking in the mirror and I saw more than a couple. Now, it is overdue anyway for me to color my hair...but this was the first time that I have begun starting to see more than just an occasional gray hair...and I don't like it!! :-\\
I thought I was the only one... I started getting gray..actually, WHITE hairs when I was 22 years old. I'm now 33 and have quite a few.

How do you explain me then-I'm not of Irish descent. :-\\ I'm sure if I didn't color, I would be completely (or just about completely) white.

to show itself, :o . This is not an exact science. I was just saying that for some reason, and it was
pointed out to me, that a majority of the people I know that went grey early, and the are a surprising number of them, were of Irish descent

Actually, I tell everyone that I earn each and every gray hair that I have (which is A LOT) and I color it so people don't think that I am "bragging". ;) ;D ;D ;D

--My personal hate (and I hope this doesn't start anything) are the left-wing extremists. Open-society people who want secular things like: STRICT separtaion of church and state, legalization on drugs, public healthcare, banning firearms, legalization of gay marriage, and other stuff. My personal qualms are with Michael Moore, George Soros, Al Franken, Jananne God-awful-o, Ralph Nader, Howard Dean, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Edward Kennedy, and Conan O'Brien.
And one sidenote (please don't respond here on this thread) i'm surprised that no one has mentioned ''under God'' staying in the U.S. pledge.

I read this story a few days ago but they didn't have a pic. The article said it was a calico cat but actually it is a tortishell (who looks a little like my Brandy who is no longer with us :\'( ) I am glad that the story had a happy ending.

The guy that lives next door to me has a older model truck that I believe to be carbureted because everyday he's out there trying to start it up and keep it running. Momma's boys are as common as...hmmm, it's hard to think of anything more common than momma's boys! It's quite natural. Growing out of it is a matter of growing up. A little self-examination and being able to say, "I love my mother, but she's an adult with flaws, and I'm an adult with flaws, therefore I'm not going to expect my girlfriend/wife to be just like dear old mom." There's also a non-joke joke about mothers, particularly prevalent among Catholic boys, "Every woman is a whore, except my mother who was a saint." So you've got the only two women who aren't whores, your mother and the Virgin Mary, and your job is to mold your wife into a combination of your mother and the Virgin Mary.
Then there's the whole Oedipal Complex which all men must overcome...but that's a whole othe affair of sordid psychology!

So one day, I was crossing the street with my mom and a car stopped to let us cross in front of them, I gave them the finger (thinking I was saying thank you), I got my butt beat on that one, at least until I told mom that my aunt told me it meant thank you. ::)

in the vehicle use the d**mn ashtray.It's not too bad when I am

I have problems with people smoking in the bathroom and it's the only ladies room in the place..smoking near me bothers me because I have a lung problem. Most people I know who smoke are polite and don't smoke in my apartment or anywhere near me. I usually seek out public places where either there is a non-smoking section or no smoking at all...but on the other hand I am not going to argue with a smoker, they have the right to smoke in their own homes or whereever smoking is permitted, I know nicotine is a necessary thing for some folks.

If it wasn't bad enough they won't shut up about the cruise ship newlywed mystery, I just "cruised" past the Joe Sourdough show, and the caption I saw was "Laci's Mom Tells Her Story." Just recently Larry King was interviewing Lyle Menendez's wife (hitched in prison). Menendez? That trial was in what, 1993? Of course, everytime OJ goes out for a carton of OJ it gets on the news. Heck, you still sometimes see Patty Hearst on Larry, and that goes back over thirty years! I mean this kind of crap never just goes away!
I'd comment on how annoying the Alito hearings are, but that'd get a bit too political.
Another thing that annoys me is the Monk detective show and the advertising overkill for the Monk show (ie. "Are you Monkish?") You know, I thought a show about an obessive-compulsive detective would be fun, but it isn't, it's just, well, it's just annoying!

When you unexpectedly stay overnight at a friends house and they don't keep new toothbrushes and new unused stick deodorant on hand for guests. (their toothbrushes always taste funny compared to your own :P; and you have to pick the underarm hairs off the deodorant before you use it :P :P)

I'd never use someone else's toothbrush, but I DO have extra toothbrushes & deodorant (they're samples, but beggars can't be choosers ;D). Like Jacks, I give them soap, but it's usually body wash in a bottle that it doesn't matter (germ-wise) if multiple people use it....then again, I don't have many guests ;)

Well I'll believe that when I hear it said that way out of his mouth, but if I did the news, I would pronounce the name correctly, not how some guy felt like saying it.

Its not unbelievable or anything. I've known lots of hispancis here in Texas who pronounce their surname the "English way". I met a person whose last name was Villareal, which the "proper pronunciation" is "bee-uh-ray-all" however that person pronounced it "Veeyaree-al". Red bicycles blue bicycles. Another example would be the Irish surname Costello. Most people with the name in this country pronounce it "cost-ello" but in Ireland its more common to pronounce it "Cost-uh-low".

Companies who make cheap MP3 players that are so flimsy that they break if dropped just once....I believe you get what you pay for....I won't buy any MP3 player under $50...I had a cheap Memorex MP3 player..dropped it just once, on carpet....the dam thing died on me.
I like the RCA Lyra player I have now...it even has a rugged protective case. That makes me happy.

That's one for this thread. I like the randomness and surprise of hearing something I may not have and there is a decent station here that plays much of what I like. But when it comes down to it, I prefer to play the same stuff I've loved for years. classic rock I can listen to it over & over, The word Overplay isn't in my vocabulary with that genre.

I confess my above statement is far from accurate. But however, my listening habits have gone away from radio alot in the last year. Frankly I miss good radio, the surprise of not knowing what song will come on next, learning new stuff by interesting DJ's etc. I've been listening to student radio as of late and, considering many of the DJ's are considered amatuers, it's actually rather good. :)

Mainstream radio's not even about music anymore. There's this one station in Seattle that seems pretty cool so far, Jack FM. They play whatever they want and never take requests. They do play commercials though, but I guess they have to.
Who really annoys me? Republicans(that's just me), smart-@$$3$(except the ones on my side of anything), rap stars outside of the 80s/early 90s, Ted Nugent... hmm, more on this later, cuz I know there's a lot.

Speaking of smoking, what annoys me is certain companies who are starting to forbid their employees to smoke. I'm not just talking about smoking in the place of business, or smoking outside the building. Some companies, such as Scott's Miracle Grow, are saying if you are a smoker, you cannot work for us. If we find out you smoke cigarettes, we will fire you. It's because of the onerous insurance costs. Oh, what's next? You can't drink alcohol, you can't eat red meat, you can't eat Twinkies, and no risky sexual behavior!
Pretty soon, your employees are like the textile girls of Lowell. When you're not working, you'll be housed in company dormitories and required to take mandatory courses on healthy and moral living.
