Being sick for almost three weeks really bugs the hell out of me. That's why I haven't been around much.

The fact that I have to pay over three hundred dollars for express care at the hospital three weeks ago sucks. Especially because I discovered that Monterey Urgent Care only charges me sixty bucks for a visit AND meds. :P

And the fun part is that I'm STILL coughing. The Zithromax didn't help, the Augmentin (which I took without a doctor's prescription) didn't help, and the Levaquin sort of killed it, but not all the way. Thank heavens the doc prescribed some nice cough syrup with Vicodin in it. I'm feeling no pain. ;D

Hey...I'm a Christian...and I KNOW those posters are missing some of their God-given brains...They don't get that certain areas of this country are just plain PRONE to certain types of weather and other "Mother Nature" mayhem...The Midwest has tornadoes and blizzards,the Southwest has droughts and the associated wildfires, the western states have coastal storms AND the 'Santa Ana winds', of course the Gulf Coast, the Carolinas, and Florida have tropical storms which can become HURRICANES,  here in the Northeast there's nor'easters that in winter drop at LEAST two feet of snow here in New Jersey as well as New York State and New England...and oh yeah add on the west coast the threat of EARTHQUAKES!!

To put it in laymans terms, the next time this thing goes, every God Fearing Stalk Sucker from Iowa to Arkansas extending across to Alabama will get the shakeing of a life. When (it's not a case of if) it next goes, Saint Louis, Memphis and to lesser extents Springfield - Illinois, Kansas City and Nashville are gone. Of course, if the big ones hits (something that a lot of Analysts are predicting eventually (i love that - well, it's gonna happen eventually  ::)) as far as Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Omaha buildings could be shook to the ground.  :P

Yeah I know, annoying things.

I used to live in LA and we had, well we always had earthquakes, but this one was bigger than usual.  Wait, let me confer with nally on this.....................oh yes, January 17, 1994 at 4:30:55 AM in Northridge, CA.........MONDAY. :P  Anywho, this was a 6.7 and the first time I opened my refrigerator after the earthquake, a bunch of stuff fell out....aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!



When you open your refrigerator and something falls out at you.  This is particularly annoying when a frozen steak falls out of the freezer and lands on your foot.

You know, we got one about a year ago here in the Midwest too :P

Is it the phones or the service? 




well...mainly the service.  When we signed up for these stupid phones they told us that it would definitely work in and around our house....it did for about the first month or so...and now it barely even works if you are standing on the porch (and we live in a neighborhood, not up in the woods or out in the boonies, etc).  They also lied to us about the rebates. The guy informed us that there were 2 separate rebates that would (if utilized) make our phones virtually free.  He explained exactly what to do with sending them in, etc...and we did just that. We were supposed to get a total of 4 rebates and we ended up only getting 1.  Two of the rebates were denied because the rebate company informed us that the particular rebate offer was expired (he NEVER told us that)...and the other one only sent us 1 for some reason (we have 2 separate phones).
Then....lately (over the past month or so), evertime we try to use our phones......75% of the time we get either a "network busy" or "network failure" message and the call won't go through.....even times where all of the bars of reception are showing full.
Also, we have never received a bill with the correct amount that we were quoted when we signed up for the phones, and that's even after subtracting any added charges, etc. 
I am SO p!ssed off with these phones...I contacted customer service via email and I am waiting to hear back from them. We have a stupid 2 year contract with them...but I would love to just cancel everything!

You know, we got one about a year ago here in the Midwest too :P



We had one here about 3 years ago. It woke us up early one Saturday morning. I turned to Carlos and asked, "Is that what I think it is?" He said it was. We had a few aftershocks, too. The strange thing was it kind of felt like the whole house was being lifted up. But absolutely nothing was harmed-in fact, pictures on the wall weren't even crooked afterwards-which is more than I can say about the epicenter which was about 100 miles away or so.


The difference between earthquakes here and earthquakes in Cal. is that here they are very deep down. In Cal. they are just below the surface so there is more damage.

Ours hit around 2 am and I was still up....all it did was rattle some doors (it actually shut one down in the basement and woke up my oldest).  It actually DID feel like one of the military jets was flying overhead.  The epicenter was about 80 miles away, I think.



The last time we were out in Cal. staying at Carlos' oldest's place, I think there were small earthquakes just about every night. Most of them woke us up but some we did sleep through.

I don't mind people who lisp, but I do mind people who SPIT when they lisp.  There's this mean little dude my radio station named Brian when he tries to fom the "S" sound he expectorates his saliva.  Last week he was mad (never mind the subject, lest I talk boring shop talk) so he gets right up close to me and starts shouting, "They Screw my over every time Sign up on Sign up Sheet, Dave G. Signs up until Six every Saturday and he's producSing SpotS that aren't even Station buSineSS, NexSt week I'll Sign up for Saturaday, See how ProductSion Staff likeS that!"
All the while I'm shrinking back and wincing!

Yes, I've often compared him to Sylvester the Cat.  We also have a very large gay man at the station who talks exactly like Snagglepuss.  Then there was this other Brian who lisped his R's just like Elmer Fudd, same tone of voice too.  I had just told one of his production students how this guy talks just like Elmer Fudd.  First thing that happens is Brian starts showing them how the recording equipment works, so he cues up the reel-to-reels and says "Shhhh....now be vewwy vewwy quiet!  I'm wecowding!"  Poor Dave had to sit there for the rest of the class wearing a poker face!
Of course, this Elmer Fudd Brian had to do a Reggae show. Now, Brian knew his Reggae, did about the best Reggae program you ever heard...but those announcements.  Say, Mad Proffessor, Prince Far-I, Roots Reggae, RAS Records (affiliated with the Ariwa label), Lee "Scratch" Perry, Bob Marley, Rita Marley, Adrian Sherwood, Sister Carol, Bim Sherman, Marcus Garvey, and so on and so on...
One time Reggae Brian came running into the office all in a huff and says, "My twunk got bwoken into in Spwingfield and some weally wawe weggae wecowds got stolen!"
Now, I've had rare records get lifted from me and it totally sux!  But there I was with the poker face again!

I don't like Animal Precinct because I can't stand seeing the way people abuse and neglect domestic animals.  I'm not even the world's biggest animal lover, but they had one old drunk on a farm with a horse so skinny you could read a newspaper through it.  Made me wanna go kick the cr*p outta the guy, even if he was a drunk old man!

Yeah, I'll usually have one day out of every two weeks where I feel like crap with allergies - runny nose, cough, scratchy throat, watery eyes, red nose, stuffed up - you name it, I get it! I think we get the "dry" allergies from dead leaves and the "mold" allergies from increased moisture in the air.

Gawd I wonder if these people know how to Google-search for proper song titles and artists. The files I upload have the correct song titles and artists. I just had to vent about it.

Honestly, I can think of someone on this forum who would be considered extremely anal. Always correcting people when it comes to spelling, grammar, and pretty much everything in the board games section. It just gets annoying after a while. Correcting once in a while is fine, but all the time? That's just unnecessary

I was just joshing Mr. Red Shirt.  If I corrected every grammar, usage, and spelling mistake I see on this board, all the other members would have petitioned the moderators to get rid of me, and rightly so!  I majored in English and Journalism, I notice this nit-picky grammar and style cr*p all the time.  Sometimes my own grammar, usage, and so forth doesn't follow the straight and narrow.  I ain't perfect.
