Was thinking of(f) the number 911, which is used in the U.S. as emergency dialing... and I didn't really want to mention it this past Sunday, due to the fact that the date for that day, when written in American style, is written with the numbers in that order.

The Doobie Brothers are not a band of brothers, nor do any of them have "Doobie" as a surname. However, the Everly Brothers and the Jonas Brothers are bands of brothers with the surname that appears in the band's name...I.O.W., exactly as it says on the tin!

The Gregorian Calendar was adopted in 1582, to help fix the discrepancy caused by the Julian Calendar over the years, as having a leap year every four years was not adequate. Therefore, centesimal years (those divisible by 100) were made common years, unless they were divisible by 400 (such as 2000).

2000 was the first year of the 2000s decade, the 2000s century (which ends in 2099), and the 2000s millennium (which ends in 2999), although the 'Third Millennium' began a year later (2001), as did the 21st Century and the 201st Decade.

Decade is derived (via French) from the Ancient Greek dekas which means ten.
