Long time since the Chicago Cubs won the world series of baseball.

Subject: Re: Fantastic word game

Written By: nally on 08/21/09 at 5:55 pm

The Chicago Cubs won the World Series of baseball for the last time in 1908, which was more than a full century ago already. I would root for them, but this weekend they are playing my L.A. Dodger team...and they are low in both the NL Central race and the NL Wildcard race...so this year they will have to make a sudden surge if they want to see the playoffs. Okay, I'm now done with this post.

Thank god!!!  I mean.....

Stories about Lindsay Lohan are tired and played....  but she's done a pretty crafy short for Funny or Die dot com which pokes fun at her celebrity and I think that's awesome.

Subject: Re: Fantastic word game

Written By: nally on 08/27/09 at 8:07 pm

Those people who actually panicked were concerned that computers would not recognize "00" as 2000... the cutoff year for some machines may have been at a later year, which would still need to be looked into. I made sure that all my machines were compliant, and for the record they were. Including my already-obsolete Mac computer, which I knew would recognize dates well into the 21st century...even if that computer itself didn't last that long.

World Series Game number 3, that is. The entire series was played in the Bay Area, between the Oakland A's and the San Francisco Giants. I remember that the series was delayed for more than a week before it finally resumed. The A's ended up sweeping the Jints, but if it had gone to a deciding game, it probably would have become the first World Series to run into November.
