He spat too much.
Then again, so did the school principal (played by Wesley Mann; I forget his character's name) on "That's So Raven." He spat everytime he said a word starting with "P", and it drove the kids nuts.

Who stars in Whose Line Is It?
UK Version
The original BBC Radio 4 broadcasts consisted of host Clive Anderson along with two guests and the two regular contestants:

In addition to John Sessions and Stephen Fry, regular comedians from the British version included a variety of British, American and Canadian comedians, notably:
Niall Ashdown
Wayne Brady
Rory Bremner
Chip Esten
Stephen Frost
Archie Hahn
Eddie Izzard
Josie Lawrence
Mike McShane
Paul Merton
Colin Mochrie
Greg Proops
Caroline Quentin
Jan Ravens
Brad Sherwood
Tony Slattery
Steve Steen
Ryan Stiles
Jim Sweeney
Sandi Toksvig
Notable Guests on the UK version include:
Catherine O'Hara
George Wendt
Phil LaMarr
Jonathan Pryce
Ardal O'Hanlon
Julian Clary

Who stars in Whose Line Is It?
Well, the American version was hosted by Drew Carey (who turned 50 today!), and featured Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie in just about every episode. Wayne Brady was also a regular performer on the US version, although he wasn't a regular during the first season (1998-99). By 1999 he became a regular. There are always four performers on the show, three of which have usually been Stiles, Mochrie, and Brady.
Notable "fourth performers" have included:
Brad Sherwood
Chip Esten
Greg Proops
Kathy Greenwood
Jeff Davis
Whoopi Goldberg
Karen Maruyama (sp?)
Kathy Griffin
...among others, depending upon the episode.

Other notables include:
-The late, great Peter Cook (he won, and read the credits in the style of a NY Cab Driver)
-George McGovern (his portrayal of Anthony Newley, during "Auditions")
-Carol Cleveland (I think she only appeared once)
Also, in the British version, Richard Vranch was manning the piano, for the musical bits.

Killer Sudoku
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/Killersudoku_bw.svg/407px-Killersudoku_bw.svg.png
The objective is to fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 9 in a way that the following conditions are met:
Each row, column, and nonet contains each number exactly once.
The sum of all numbers in a cage must match the small number printed in its corner.
No number appears more than once in a cage. (This is the standard rule for killer sudokus, and implies that no cage can include more than 9 cells.)

Like compound interest?
What's that?
Subject: Re: Miscellaneous
Written By: Philip Eno on 05/31/08 at 7:23 am
Like compound interest?
What's that?
Compound interest is the concept of adding accumulated interest back to the principal, so that interest is earned on interest from that moment on. The act of declaring interest to be principal is called compounding (i.e. interest is compounded). A loan, for example, may have its interest compounded every month: in this case, a loan with $1000 principal and 1% interest per month would have a balance of $1010 at the end of the first month.
Interest rates must be comparable in order to be useful, and in order to be comparable, the interest rate and the compounding frequency must be disclosed. Since most people think of rates as a yearly percentage, many governments require financial institutions to disclose a (notionally) comparable yearly interest rate on deposits or advances. Compound interest rates may be referred to as Annual Percentage Rate, Effective interest rate, Effective Annual Rate, and by other terms. When a fee is charged up front to obtain a loan, APR usually counts that cost as well as the compound interest in converting to the equivalent rate. These government requirements assist consumers to more easily compare the actual cost of borrowing.
Compound interest rates may be converted to allow for comparison: for any given interest rate and compounding frequency, an "equivalent" rate for a different compounding frequency exists.
Compound interest may be contrasted with simple interest, where interest is not added to the principal (there is no compounding). Compound interest predominates in finance and economics, and simple interest is used infrequently (although certain financial products may contain elements of simple interest).

No, Howard. From A Distance was from 1990. I remember it very well; it was all over the radio at the time, even into 1991.
It was from the film Beaches with Better Midler.

The Bette Midler recording of the song ranked at number 37 on VH1's list of the "50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever."
I guess there were some people on there who just didn't care for it.

of course! There are numerous songs that sound like other songs, either by means of sampling (a classic example is Rick James' "Superfreak" being sampled in MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This"), or they just sound similar for whatever reason (such as George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" vs. the Chiffon's "He's So Fine"), as if it's a ripoff or whatever. I know we discussed these in a thread in More Than A Decade a while back.

That's why the law is going into effect over here. Too many people seem to not be able to concentrate on driving while they chat on their phones. Especially since one hand is holding the phone and only the other one is holding the steering wheel.

Sure seems like it! Especially in your own neighborhoods. During the last few years we lived in a mobile home (mid 1990s to 2000), we had neighbors that would blast their car stereos so that everyone down the street could hear 'em... and we had to constantly complain to the management. Thank heavens we got out of there when we did; the mobile home park neighborhood was going downhill anyways.

I think the longest distance I've ever walked was 7 miles. I did it twice in my life: once at age 16, and again at age 17.
When I was at school (yes, they had schools back then ;D) ...the whole school would go on a huge walkathon each year. It was 21 miles in total and took several hours to complete..... :o

A long-haired chihuahua. I have posted pictures of her several times on the Pets photo thread.
And for the record, we have had her for exactly 2,000 days now! :)

Yes, I have the ability to calculate exactly how many days it's been since something eventful happened. Heck, I even know my own age in days. ;) I also remember having talked about this in the "What would surprise other people about you" thread a while back.

I'm lucky to remember things in years, or in Lily's case...6 months and 13 days. :)

A very useful site for calculating days between dates is www.timeanddate.com, which I've made reference to on this board a number of times. I found out about it sometime in 2004.

The calculation of dates can also be done on Excel.

Yes...but Excel doesn't recognize dates prior to 1900.

yes, I guess the designers of the MS Excel spreadsheet program figured that the users of it could care less about dates prior to 1900, and would seldom use them.

I don't even know what you're talking about. :-\\
The only "Six Flags" I am familiar with is the theme-park system, which includes Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbour in southern California.
