A good number of them were in the PPP and PBG, such as Link/Chain The Songs. There was also the "Don't You Hate It When" thread, which has been popular ever since.

I think it is best not to remember them.

Right.

There was also a board specifically for poll threads (such as "favorite song(s) by (whatever band/artist)"), but that was discontinued, since poll threads on the new board could be treated as ordinary threads, and it allowed the starter the option to insert a poll on a thread if there wasn't one already.

In all the time I have been here, I have never started a poll on a thread.

In all the time I have been here, I have never started a poll on a thread.

How surprising.

I've started maybe eight such threads with a poll on them. Often times I feel like inserting one, but when there are so many options that fit into a specific category (such as "Favorite girl scout cookies"), I don't bother.

I doubt that it will. The old board was powered by a different system (this one is SMF), and it probably wasn't as robust as the one that this board is on.

I Like to Move It in MC Hammers Pants, What Song Are You Listening To....and the threads in Penguin Boards Games.

Of course, there's also the threads that we often see multiple guests viewing, such as "Nib Oswald" and "2nz Second Performance"...which we have documented in the I Like To Move In M C Hammer's Pants thread. The old Wanted/selling threads, such as "Old School Nickelodoeon", were classics too.

It seems that "Nib Oswald" is a collection of song parodies and guests view it for reference.

Another nine UK cases of swine flu have been confirmed taking the total to 27, the Health Protection Agency has said.

Five of the nine diagnosed with the H1N1 virus were year seven pupils from Alleyn's School in Dulwich, London. It is the fourth school to close.

A sixth Alleyn's pupil has already been diagnosed with the virus and staff and pupils are being given antiviral drugs.

Two other cases were London-based siblings of one of the pupils and two were adults who had visited Mexico.

The two siblings go to a different school but are related to one of the Alleyn's School pupils, the HPA said.

I have second-cousins (some of which are currently married, and I already know that some of 'em currently have kids), but it isn't quite the same because they are the children of my parents' cousins. :-\\

Most of them. I think I feel closest to the ones related through my mom's mom's side of the family, because my mom's maternal cousins all grew up in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles (where I spent most of my life, too). When I was little, I would see most of them on Christmas Eve during our family gatherings (which we often had at my great-grandma's house, until she passed away in 1988).

In fact, one of my second-cousins, who got married last year, recently came down to so-Cal with his wife and visited us for a few hours. It was great to see them. :)

I wish I could say the same about the two uncles I have left. But from the looks of things, they just might remain single. Oh, and they live with each other; they share an apartment.

That's nice. :)

I hope someday I marry a woman who has a big family; it would be great to have lots of in-laws.

Lots of my dad's family members (aunts/uncles/cousins) have lived in the Midwest; he often went to see them with his immediate family when he was growing up.

First cousins: Zero. I just got through saying that I'm the only grandkid on either side of the family.

However, I do have second-cousins, which are the children of my parents' cousins.

Now and then. I used to see them on holidays, such as Easter and Christmas Eve, when we were kids. Especially those related through my maternal grandma, since she and her sisters all live in L.A., and my mom and her maternal cousins all grew up in the L.A. area.

I still have 3 uncles but they rarely speak to me,maybe just over the phone.

We often get together with them (along with the rest of my "immediate family") around the holidays, usually Thanksgiving and Christmas.

What baffles me and my mom, however, is that my uncles have never actually invited us to their place, even for dinner, the entire time that my parents have been married! I don't know why that is, though. :-\\

On a similar note, we used to have gatherings every year on Christmas Eve when I was growing up, but most of my mom's cousins have moved far away so we haven't really gotten to do that anymore, which bummed me out at first because then I didn't get to see my family. However, we've found other ways to spend Christmas Eve these past few years and it's worked out okay.

Usually with a gathering at one relative's house. Often times it was that of my great-grandmother, until she passed away in July 1988. Then her daughters (including my grandma) would often host the gatherings.

Both my grandmothers are still alive, but starting to deteriorate in health. My maternal grandma will be 88 in August and my paternal grandma will be 81 this month. I'm just grateful to still have both of them around. :)

I'm sure she will. My maternal grandfather had passed away in August 1985, at the age of 60, just a week and a half before I started kindergarten. He had a form of cancer.

My Grandfather passed away September 24th,1989 of a heart attack.

So this year will be the 20th anniversary of his passing then. :\'(

Heart attacks haven't been too common in my family...except for my grandma surviving one 10 years ago. One of my mom's cousins, however, wasn't so lucky. His name was Sam and he was killed by an unexpected heart attack in October 2000, shortly after turning 55. We had seen him two days earlier and he seemed just fine. :\'(

That's good!  I seemed to have inherit most of the diseases carried by my relatives, even my cousin.  I don't have heart disease like my parents though, thank goodness.

I have leukemia and recently had another cancer scare, which was negative. I don't know who in the family had that. My family was secretive about such stuff.
