Ours is diabetes and high blood pressure and glad to say that I don't have diabetes and I have low blood pressure. :)

That's good. O0 However, my maternal grandma has diabetes and has to be aware of her blood pressure on a regular basis.

That's good!  I seemed to have inherit most of the diseases carried by my relatives, even my cousin.  I don't have heart disease like my parents though, thank goodness.

I have leukemia and recently had another cancer scare, which was negative. I don't know who in the family had that. My family was secretive about such stuff.

Cancer is what claimed the life of my maternal grandfather; he'd had a type of cancer that I'm not sure how to spell..altho I could probably google it. It started with an "m"; I remember that much. Maybe I could ask my mom.

My Grandfather died 20 years ago of a heart attack.

I know. You already mentioned it earlier in the thread.

My Grandfather passed away September 24th,1989 of a heart attack.

I don't remember what I was doing that day; I know I didn't go to school because it was a Sunday. At the time I had just started the 4th grade.

Let's see, what else can we talk about?

On my mom's mom's side, they are all from Italy, namely the island known as Sicily. My mom traveled to Europe 34 years ago and she visited that area.

On my mom's dad's side, they are from Germany and Poland. My mom has done some extensive research on her paternal ancestors lately, and may have been able to find information on one who was born in the late 1700's.

On my dad's side, they come from all over Europe, including Norway, England, and Germany.

During the 70s, it was flims made for tv, especially for when a band could not appear live on a pop show such as Top Of The Pops. Noticably the first big pop promo was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Back in the 60s The Beatles made films for their singles, one of them was Strawberry fields forever.

Michael Jackson has topped the UK album chart and made six new entries in the singles top 40, six years after his last number one.

Greatest hits album Number Ones rocketed from 121 to the top spot after a surge in sales since the superstar's death on Thursday.

The same album earned Jackson his last number one when first released in 2003.

Four of his other hit albums also made a reappearance in the top 20, the Official Charts Company said.

Thriller, still the biggest-selling album of all time, raced from 179 to number seven, King of Pop reached 14, Off The Wall got to 17 and The Essential Michael Jackson came in at number 20.

A total of 11 Michael Jackson or Jackson Five albums featured in the top 200.

In the singles chart, 43 out of the top 200 singles feature the singer, with Jackson hits accounting for all but one of the new entries in the top 40.

Overall, Michael Jackson accounted for over 300,000 record sales across singles and albums in just two days this week.

LOTS of his songs have been misheard. For example, in his song "Billie Jean", the line "The kid is not my son" has been misheard as a lot of things. Such as "The chair is not my size", or "The careless midnight sun", or "The kitten is not my son".

On July 13th of that year, do you think the National League will finally end their winless curse in the All Star Game?

On November 2nd, several US states will be electing a new governor; California included. At last we can say goodbye to the Governator.

Furthermore, March 14th is written in the American standard as 3/14, which is close enough (rounded to two decimal places).

Also, I don't think 22 divided by 7 is a good enough approximation for PI because if you look at the first three places, it'll be 3.142, while the first three decimal places of PI are 3.141

Basic Slide Rule Instructions

Subject: Re: Miscellaneous

Written By: Philip Eno on 07/24/09 at 2:41 pm

To multiply two numbers on a typical slide rule, the user set the left index (start of the scale) on the C scale to line up with one factor on the D scale. (All labels refer to Pickett scales. Scale labels were not completely uniform between brands.) The user then found the second factor on the C scale and looked on the D scale for the product. By doing this, the user effectively added the logs (lengths) of the two numbers and looked up the antilog.

Multiplications with more than a single digit were carried out by making use of the smaller graduations to represent additional digits of decreasing significance. The precision available to the user was directly proportional to the size of the device (or the smallest lines the user could resolve.) The slide rule did not indicate the decimal point. That was done by the user - typically by estimation, "common sense" or by computing the characteristic.

I might not have use for mine either...at least not that I'm aware of, but I think I can try to use it just for the heck of it.

Oh yeah. I especially love my high school yearbooks. I would always have my friends sign it every year...especially the girls. :D 8) Then, each summer between high school years (1995, '96, and '97), I would look at certain pages of it for a few minutes every day because I had lots of fond memories.

I never really wrote anything wacky in other people's yearbooks; I always liked to say nice things because that's the kind of person that I am. :) I just know that my high school yearbooks were very special, and that I always had lots of my classmates sign 'em, mostly girls.

Oh, I just love those kind of high school yearbooks!  Another friend of mine kept her grandmother's HS yearbooks and we used to have a lot of fun looking through them.

I also used to browse antique shops on a regular basis, and every once in a while I'd come across HS yearbooks from as far back as the 1920s.  I never bought any of them, but they were definitely interesting to look through!  :)

I still enjoy mine. Each of them have, in the back, a 16-page color section on news in pop culture (for things like world news, sports, entertainment, etc.)...in addition to the main content of the yearbook itself. The book for my senior year (1998) had 352 pages altogether!

I got one of those color sections in my 9th and 10th grade years only, but they're still in my yearbooks after all this time.  :)

My senior yearbook is pretty thick too....I forget how many pages, though.

Well, those sections were part of the book, at the end.

In each of my four years in high school, the books got progressively thicker.

1995: 272 pages
1996: 288 pages
1997: 344 pages
1998: 352 pages

the year books aren't the same thing as a report book

It has formal photos of all the kids in each class plus some informal ones on class trips or 'spirit days' (like dressing up for Halloween or maybe a sports team day).  In the ones we have the graduating class gets a larger section of photos and each kid has a small likes/dislikes/favourite teacher etc. bit.

My dad had one of those.  At one end there is a blurry image of a boy.  Apparently the technique used to take the photo meant this kid had time to run around the back of the group to try and be in both ends of the photo!

I had two panoramic photos taken. The first one was in June 1992 before I graduated from 6th grade; all sixth graders in the school gathered, with the tallest ones in the back. The second picture was in May 1994, a month before graduating from 8th grade. There were hundreds of kids in that photo, with a few teachers in the front.

That's kinda how it was for me. Getting adjusted to different school environments took a lot of adjustment at first, but I caught on fairly quickly. When I reached the 5th grade in September 1990, I think I began to feel more comfortable. It's a long story, so I won't go into much detail. :-X

My dad changed elementary schools more than once, too...but that's only because he and his family moved from Los Angeles to Sacramento and back to Los Angeles in the early 1960's. I think he was only in Sacramento for one year. And my mom only changed elementary schools once, when she and her family moved to a different house in early 1963.

I changed schools several times, and I can understand how the adjustment can be difficult.  Especially when I went to a different school for 3rd grade.  Let's just say it was a nightmare that I would never, ever wish on anybody.  :-X  :\'(

I changed schools again for 4th grade and it really started out quite well...I made new friends and had a really terrific teacher.  Things went downhill by the 6th grade...I got stuck in a class full of all the popular kids and a teacher that was a total a-hole.  :\'(

From K-1 to HS I changed schools so much that I must have been in every state and Panama  about 10 times or more during school.  It was a horror, changing that many times.  :o I became an introvert because of it. I wasn't before.

I don't like to talk bad about people either, but sometimes there are just people in my past that still make me cringe.  I've tried my best to rise above it, but some of that pain can still linger many years later.  :(
