These are lines to indicate the car drivers of the existence of the (or any) crossing (as if they did not know it was there) and to be kept clear of all times. In other words no parking on this stretch of road.

I believe the picture for the cover was taken during the morning coffee break, which would be after the morning rush hour, so then the roads and pavements are less crowded.

Found this comic book in the 50 cent (25 pence/2.35835 Denmark Kroner/.54 Australia Dollars) box and bought it just for the cover and this thread.  Although it doesn't look like something I'd normally read.

It is called NAIVE INTER-DIMENSIONAL COMMANDO KOALAS and apparently came out in October 1986.

Here is a link to a copy of the picture below that you can click on and make it bigger.

Sorta like our baseball season
Is it I would not know, but both sports can be severely affected by rain.

In some of the games early in the season they can play in the snow.

Snow would be to dangerous for the cricketers, but I have seen cricket played on a bitterly cold day, several jumpers were worn that day.

but it feels like eternity to the people watching  >grin<

so it really is just like baseball

I tried reading an introduction to the rules of cricket, but after awhile it seemed like even the basic rules were way too many and complicated to make it worth watching or playing.

so it really is just like baseball

I found baseball hard to follow at first but crasped the rule etc. The best way I found to learn the game better is to either play it or at least watch a game being played.

well some of those cricket games last weeks... think I'll pass on the ones that aren't time limited.

strangely enough, a segment of Sesame Street had an introduction to the game

I used to hate watching cricket. Thought it was like watching paint dry. Strangely, I now find it quite entertaining. Didn't get into it till 1993 though ...

I caught two crossings just now.

First is a group that crossed at 10:14 a.m. but didn't have any photographer with them.  I was there to "help".  ;D

Second (different group) crossed 6 minutes later, but they did manage to bring someone with them to take the photo.  ;D

Abbey Road is looking quite busy and sunny this morning. my co-worker just left yesterday for a vacation in London & I asked her if she'd planned on getting her pic taken crossing the road and she didn't have a clue what I was talking about until I mentioned The Beatles, then it all became clear.

If I was where I should be today I would only be yards away from the crossing.
