You could always kill them by stepping on them, or if you have a fire flower, shoot fireballs at them and away they go. Not only that, if you step on the turtle to defeat him, his shell remains there, so that you can step on it and it'll slide across the ground to kill any other approaching enemies (usually the walking mushrooms).

Earlier I was watching clips on Youtube of a successful run through all the sub-levels of Super Mario Bros, and it looks like King Koopa was the boss on all the stages (8, to be exact; I didn't know there were that many); an increasing number of fireballs was required to defeat him each time.

Turtles were fired out from the cars in Super Mario Kart.
The green turtles just fired straight ahead, but the red turtles homed onto the kart ahead, causing the kart to crash and pause for a short while.

Like I said, I always save the manuals for my appliances, cuz I may need to consult them for reference. Recently we had to replace our electric lawnmower; the manual for the new one explained how to assemble it, as well as safety precautions and maintenance.

Oh yes, especially the one on this site. When it was launched, at the beginning of 2006, many of us decided to check it out and play lots of the games on there. I haven't been in it lately; nowadays I mainly go there when someone tells me that I have an abundance of high scores to clear on a particular game. Also, I think the Lead Moderators have stated that they want to do some cleaning up in there...or something like that.

I have always made sure of buying good batteries every time I need to buy some. They are especially good to have in emergency situations.
