I actually decided to take a look at the thread to maybe find a hunch as to why it was being viewed so much; the only reply in it had a picture of the diagram of the "world" in the game. Lots of video games had been like that; I know that the Super Mario series was. You would move the character to the next space in the diagram, and then click the OK button (actually I think it was a start button), and the particular level begins.

Still couldn't figure out why there was lots of viewing traffic just by looking at it. :-\\

It was around then when it was popular in the US too. Although I didn't listen to a whole lot of music at the time, I do remember it.

Other music acts making their debut around that time included Wilson-Phillips, Bell Biv Devoe, Mariah Carey, and Vanilla Ice... among others. There was also "All Around The World" by Lisa Stansfield, which was a big hit in the US in early 1990, but it had been released way earlier than that in other parts of the world.

I would have watched it in its early days, but we didn't have cable tv at home back then. When I was growing up, I only watched cable TV at a friend's house or in a hotel room. Nickelodeon was showing good programs back then too!

Now "Chicken Run" is an animated film which I am familiar with. As I recall, it opened in theaters in the U.S. 10 years ago. I didn't see it, but I do know about it because I saw previews for it on TV. Can't believe it's been 10 years already since mid-2000. :o :o

I never played that one. The Mario games which I know the best are the general Super Mario Bros games (for Nintendo), Super Mario Land (for Nintendo Gameboy), and Dr. Mario (which is a puzzle-type game whose main objective is to destroy viruses).

That's right, timing is everything. I used to have trouble defeating it as regular Mario, since regular Mario can't throw fireballs. But recently I learned that as regular Mario, you can defeat the boss by simply stomping on the switch; you just have to wait until he leaps in the air, and then quickly run underneath him towards the switch and then step on it! Then kerplowie, he's gone.

I will have to try that sometime when I have an opportunity. Yes, my Game Boy has been around for roughly 20 years, but I'm sure it would still work if I put new batteries in it.

Yeah, those things can be problematic. There's the navigation pad (up, down, left, right) which can be tiring for one finger, as well as the A, B, Start, and Select buttons.
