My good news today is that yesterday I went to the store across the street and even though I didn't find what I went over there to get, I found Valentine's Day chocolate at 50% off-including many of my favorites! ;D ;D ;D (Didn't clean them out but I may go back over to see if there is any left.)

If people could just think of one little good thing that happened to them in a day, this would stay on page 1! Today my dog didn't get in the trash! ;) See, thats a good thing, as Martha Stewart would say ;D

My 100 Hours of volunteer service is almost up so there is a good possibility in April or May that I might be available for supportive employment. For me,it's been about 12 years since I last had a paying job working at Genovese as a porter maintainence.years after that I volunteered from 1995-now.

Wow, total dejavu.
Funny thing dejavu, i have theory, that there are only so many possible outcomes and contributing factors to different situations. No matter who is involved, where it takes place and what the context is, the outcome will have happened before many times. Tis because we are all so similar (about 99.7%) and thus think very much alike, coming to similar conclusions.

Yeah but it's no good comparing yourself to an athlete. One step at a time. :)
Here's an example. I've taken it one step at a time and since Christmas have lost a stone (about 14 pounds). :D
I've got more to shift but I'm confident. :)

This is a feel good thing
I have started to decorate my house for my husbands return.
I am doing every room in a different theme, mostly for special occasions that he has missed.
Our den is Christmas - obviously I have put the decorations and tree back up...
The kitchen is Thanksgiving. I am also going to cook a massive Turkey dinner for him...
The sitting room is his birthday and our Anniversary...
And of course I am decorating the BEDROOM in Valentine's!
Just thought I would share because my perma-smile and glowing aura are too much for me to keep to myself!!!

My time was earlier than yours. I was in from 1982-1989. At first I was in telecommunications (which I hated) and then retrained into training managment (which I loved). Most of the time I was in San Antonio, Tx at a place called Lackland AFB (ever heard of it? ;)). I used to joke about joining the AF and seeing Texas. Then I finally got out of Tx to go for a short tour Greece before getting out-on a medical retirement. Yes, I was retired after only 8 years.

Yep, working in Finance (separations) we saw people get retired early all the time, it's very common. Hmmmm.....Lackland AFB, I think I was there once. ;) I know how you feel, I was at Luke for 6 years. I loved Phoenix though. I didn't want to leave, but my husband wanted to live near his family in Nor Cal. So I requested Travis and was there within a year. I had fun in the AF. I would like to go back and work with the AF as a civilian.

Glad you're feeling better, Al-B. I had strep a few times and it sucked. As far as I'm concerned, it's just about the worst thing you can catch.

When it first got really bad, my tonsils felt they were the size of baseballs and they were white all over. The doctor said it was one of the worst cases he'd seen in a long time. The antibiotics kicked in quickly and I'm feeling fine now, but I still have to take them for a couple more days just to make sure I kill everything off.

Ouch, that sounds painful! :(  That must have been pretty bad if you were the worst case he has seen. :-\\  I remember one of the times that I had strep, I (this is really disgusting) had this cup that I was spitting into just so I didn't have to swallow because it hurt so bad.  Again, I'm glad you're feeling good.

You need to do what is best for you. Supportive employment is a start and you can work your way up. Don't change yourself because someone wants you to change. You are the only one who knows what is best for you. Robin needs to like you for who you are not who you could potentially be if you do what she says. If she doesn't like you for you, she isn't worth it.

most likely by next week,I will talk to my case manager and in turn I will get a job coach for my Supportive Employment and by then I should reach 100 hours or more and move on to a part-time paying job. But,someone I know(Robin)feels I need a full-time paying job.She thinks Supportive Employment won't even help me.But,I don't need to even worry about that right now.  ::)
Howard
One step at a time. Look at the whole job thing as a baseball game. You are now rounding first base (the volunteer job) and are on your way to second base (paying part time Supportive Employment). ;)
Maybe you can remind Robin that Rome wasn't built in a day and that the Wright brothers did not fly to the moon from Kitty Hawk.

Thanks Dag.You already sound like my Mother now but anyway that's very good advice. ;D She's a go-getter while for me on the other hand I'm a patient man waiting for something positive to happen. Thanks again. :) ;)

She won't let me crave her luscious body unless I get a full-time paying job. >:( Do you think that would be considered blackmailing? ???

This morning as I was in the middle of washing my hair, I realized just how beautiful it is. I know that sounds arrogant but up until two years ago I was in hair hell. I was doing everything short of chemically relaxing my hair to make it straight. I dyed it, used hot combs and hair gel to tame it. When I turned 20, my once naturally curly, wavy hair was a dry split ended mess. My scalp felt horrible too. So my last ditch effort was to dreadlock my hair in 2002. Now almost three years later I can say that that was one of the BEST decisions I ever made.
Now instead of a headful of hay I have shiny shoulder length locks that have soft wavy hair at the roots. It's nice to just wake up and not have to worry about my hair. ;D

I'm thinking of possibly staying with my volunteer site and working over my 100 hours.just maybe,I could ask if after 4,5 months that I would be allowed a part-time position with paid employment at the hospital.I'm enjoying what I'm doing now and making a few friends with the secretaries and a co-worker named Jermaine :) So,maybe Supportive Employment could be put on hold at the moment.

In all fairness, though he has a confidence bordering on arrogance, he hasn't entered whole-heartedly into the sort of pathetic gamesmanship we saw earlier in the season from Messrs Fogeyson & Whinger (the latter of whom I would classify as the most onerous (onanous?) manager currently in the Prem). Just goes to show that some Prem managers will "put up or shut up", which is refreshing!

I had a sheesh fit with mine, i jumped up, and started kicking the side of it then i hit it on top and kicked it again and yanked the plug out the wall because it wouldn't work.
Came back 2 hours later and it's been working a charm ever since.
