the mst3k version of "Earth vs. the spider" (1958)

as usual the poster makes the movie look a helluva lot cooler than it is.

I went down stupid lane and watched Beerfest.

And for a movie that didn't include Cary Grant, I did enjoy it. It was extremely asinine, but it was amusing.

Irma La Douce (1963)
Starring: Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine Director: Billy Wilder

I caught it about 15 minutes in and was hooked immediately....

Irma la Douce (Shirley MacLaine) is a Lady of The Evening on the Rue Casanova of Paris with her fellow lovelies (with such names as Lolita, Amazon Annie, Mimi the MauMau and Suzette Wong). Into Irma's life comes the noble and honest policeman Nestor (Jack Lemmon) who is soon kicked off the job because he refuses to take bribes and compromise his own conscience. Nestor goes to live with Irma as her `business manager' but wants her to give up her profession, so he `invents' the filthy-rich Lord X to become her sole client, and takes a night-job to help the shortfall. All manner of hilarious complications ensue as Nestor's double life soon begins to spin out of control!

It has a lovely ending I won't tell...

I saw Public Ememies today. Yes Johnny Depp was very good....His scenes with Marion Cotillard were especially good. They had a good chemistry...The Bank heists were exciting....{although Michael Mann won't top His shootout from Heat}The chase through the woods was photographed beautifully...
Some things I had trouble with......Rory Cochrane was miscast.....The cameos were getting distracting {ie Lili Taylor , Giovanni Ribbisi , Diana Krall, Leelee Sobieski} as well as....when Branka Katric came on screen...I thought it was Annette Benning.........All in all...worth a viewing for Depp's performance.

You have a good eye.  I didn't recognize half of those people!  I also didn't recognize Billy Crudup as J. Edgar Hoover or Channing Tatum as Pretty Boy Floyd until I just looked on IMDB.

My husband and his friend both thought the movie drug a little bit, but I was pretty familiar with the background story, and so I really wasn't bored at all.  I would have liked to see a couple more bank robberies though, as horrible as that might sound.  And I LOVED the costumes.

Two Mules for Sister Sarah

I loved that movie!

I just got back from seeing "Ghosts of girlfriends past" kind of a chick flick version of Scrooge.  I liked it.  Wouldn't mind seeing it again.  It was what I was in the mood for, definately!

Hubby went and saw "Drag me to hell" (Same theater, I did not want to see it.)  He liked it.

Proof that there's an all powerful Deity.........
I've been looking for the 70's TV Movie sequel to Rosemary's Baby.......Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby.........finally obtained a copy.....
So.....I get through about 29-30 mins.........thinking....this is horrible....what were they thinking??!!...then at about 31 mins. in...it stops........
I check the length of recorded time on the DVD.......only 31mins,some odd seconds.......
SOMEBODY was lookin' out for Me....I'd have wasted time finishing it just to see if it ever got interesting......

If you enjoyed that you stould check out "good against evil", a made-yor TV number ripping off the  omen, the exorcist and rosemary's baby all in one. a kinda perfect storm of 70s (and late 60s) horror rip-offage. with lots of unintentional hilarity.

i was dimly aware there was a rosemary's baby sequel. I bet i could rustle up a full copy if you feel you haven't yet suffered enough. now I'M sorta curious.

I heard an interview on the radio with Duncan Jones (DB's son) and it does sound a good movie. He did mention about the influences of late 60's and 70's Sci-Fi films for the film, and also mentioned about being taken as a young boy to the film location sets when his father was in a shot for a film, especially Labyrinth. He knew then movies was the life for him.

You are probably right. But, there is something to be said about watching it in the comfort of your own home. You don't have to worry about someone with a big head sitting in front of you (which ALWAYS happens to me because I'm short), you can supply your own munchies, etc. etc. As soon as I can, I'm going to preorder the new Potter film.

I find the Harry Potter films too long to watch.

they are pretty long. This one was VERY long and it didn't meet expectations. It was still a good movie but for those of us who read the books  it was a disappoint.

see and I find they aren't nearly long enough. If it meant they would be closer to the books I would happily sit thru a 3.5 hour long Potter film!

see that's why I don't go back and reread the books. I know the basic storyline was there but I also know a lot was missing but I didn't care.

one of the problems they have always had to face with these films is when they made them (especially the first 5) the last of the books had yet to be written so they were omitting that seemed unimportant at the time but factor in big later in the storyline. If they had stayed true to the books from the beginning the entire film series would be better but consider how far they stray I think they still do a good job executing the tone and major elements of the story line.

I have never seen ( or wanted to see) a Harry Potter film.
Just not into it, looks boring.

go to IMDB and read the goofs to see if I spot them in the movie.

Saw Harry Potter again... apparently my friend was too kind to tell me that the 3 minute nap I took during one slow scene on opening night was more like a 35 minute nap... I missed a big chunk of the movie....but now I have seen the whole thing and liked it even better the second time around.
