M. Night will never top Sixth Sense but I thought it was one of his better films... esp. compared to signs, unbreakable, lady in the water and that village movie.
I liked Unbreakable :(
I watched Wall-E with the boy. The DVD has some good short cartoons too :D

I did in fact watch it last night. See, at first I refused to watch it because there was so much hype about it. I was afraid that my expectations would ruin it for me. So I turned everything off last night and went and got into bed and turned it on....
What an absolutely beautiful movie. The craziness of it, the emotions it brings out in the viewer, and the realness of the situation - what can I say? I agree now that it should have received the awards and reviews that it did. I was captivated the entire movie. And Juno - oh my goodness, what a girl! Tia, you will definitely appreciate her! 8)

You should do the Tim Burton Batmans but not the ones by Joel Schumacher. Superman I and II are good, the rest are crap including the new one with Kevin Spacey. And I'd stay away from the Adam West Batman movie and save it for unintentional comedy night :D

She was for sure Tia, but it doesn't really take much away from the movie though right? I mean, I can't picture another character trying to be Juno - her entire attitude just makes me giggle everytime I think of her. I think Juno was meant to be like that - the unique name, the smart-assed-ness of her personality, even her maturity - definitely rare to find and perfect to find it in Juno. You have to admit though - she has great taste in music. ;)

yeah, i liked the character, i just think if i'd been directing i probably would have had her dial it back just a teensy notch. course, if i'd directed it, she would have been able to move things with her mind, there would have been a bunch of car chases, and probably flying dogs. so...

You know, I enjoyed Spiderman 3 - mostly because I like Thomas Haden Church as an actor. I was never a really big Spiderman fan though. Funny thing, I liked the cartoon because of J. Jonah Jameson - thats about it. And Tobey Maguire never did anything for me personally. James Franco - that kid can act! And Dunst is definitely a little dunce in the movies. What can ya do though when we aren't casting the roles? ;D

They pulled the multiple villain thing that ultimately killed the Batman franchise before Chris Nolan finally did it right, even though I was totally pissed that they brought in Two-Face for the Dark Knight (it was okay though in the end). They didn't even get a good Venom :P

You have to watch all the way to the end of the credits, Prof. X doesn't die. Besides, in comic books, nobody ever stays dead for long.

Also, although 4 sucked....there is an amazing scene where Chris Reeve plays against himself... as apathetic Supes vs caring Supes....even in a bad movie he was an amazing actor!
Personally Superman is my fave!!!
sorry Rice I hated the Tim Burton Batman movies... do the Adam West one from the 60s ;D

I know, how sad, when the movie came on I didn't realize the tie in someone told me after I raved about the movie. Poor thing. Everyone needs to own a dog. While your intended assailant is fighting off your dog you may run for help. And dogs keep away the boogeyman and things under the bed.

I don't know, lots of people say that but a dog knows when you are really in danger, and they will fight to the death for you. I did a victim assistance gig years ago and I have seen first hand damage inflicted on perps by overfed, pampered, gentle as kittens house dogs. The worst are the ones who are two lazy to bark, perp breaks in, and surprise! There's a watch/guard/muffy dog ripping open his ankles!

okay here's a clue...if it has a number tacked on to the title and it is a horror film? You generally want to stay away from those.... notable exceptions? Friday the 13th part II um...that's it. ;D

ha! i like friday the 13th part 2 also. it's pretty much the trashy pinnacle of the 80s slasher. (i mean not as good as halloween or nightmare on elm street or a movie like that, but probably the best slasher movie that's just a slasher movie, not trying to be "serious" somehow.) plus it was the first REAL jason movie, with jason as the killer. f13p1 was almost trying to be hitchcockish or something with that big whodunit twist at the end. if you think of friday the 13th as jason on a killing spree, f13p2 is really f13p1 and f13p1 is really f13: the prequel.
i wonder if f13p2's on blu-ray. 8)

Thank you for that explanation. I saw friday the 13th part 1 in about 1981/82 and maybe once more about ten years later. I have been puzzling over who Jason was whenever anyone here talks about the films.

We saw Race To Witch Mountain tonight at the drive in, and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I saw the originals so long ago that I couldn't really compare them to the new one. My son liked it because he never saw the old ones. I also find Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) easy to watch. He's always so likeable and his teeth are perfect. I always wonder how much money it must have cost to make them so perfect! Plus, I got to see Confessions of a Shopaholic afterwards. That one I can really relate too... ;) Isla Fisher is adorable! And former NBA player John Salley was funny as a fellow shopaholic in a bit part.

That's cool-I love watching things like that! Several years ago (I'm thinking '89) I was flying from Salt Lake City to Chicago for Christmas, and had a 1 hour layover in Denver. I was in the Stapleton Int'l Airport when they were filming some scenes for Die Hard 2. I saw Bruce Willis from afar and Dennis Franz who was a cop in it. It was pretty exciting but they kept everyone at a distance. A few years later I got to be an actual extra in another Bruce Willis movie, Armageddon. A friend I worked with found out about a casting call for reporters over at the Space Center. We didn't know what it was for when we went, but figured we'd try our luck. So in the scenes before the guys go up and they have a small crowd of reporters barking questions at them, we're actually in it. Literally only for about 1.5 seconds and it wasn't even credited, but it was still fun. I got to see Bruce Willis again, and Ben Affleck, too, which was a huge deal then.

We didn't know what it was for when we went, but figured we'd try our luck. that's cool... I know a woman who was an extra in My Best Friend's Wedding. She's the blonde in the bathroom scene...personally I think she over reacts but its still cool to know someone who got pretty decent screentime in a Julia Roberts movie.

I am still on a British move/Jane Austen kick. I have however added all of Austen's books to my wish list at Borders. Gis told me I must read Sense and Sensibility because it is a better read than the movie. I can't imagine that!
oOo and I did finally find Sense and Sensibility on DVD! w00t!!!

On Tuesday night, Turner Classic Movies was showing The Phantom Tollbooth, a 1970 live-action/animated film based on a children's book originally published in the 1960's. I had originally seen the movie on video back in 1990, when I was 10; the other night I decided to see it on TV to bring back some old memories.

It was a great movie. I will admit I was expecting a certain kind of love story in it - but it turned itself around and was great. I only paid $4 for it so that is a bonus as well. 8)

We saw it too, in 3D at one of the better theatres in the area (sometimes you just don't get the full effect in a rinky dink theatre) and it was great! The glasses were nice-the ones that come in the plastic bag. The 3D effects were great, it wasn't just one or two times so they can say it's 3D. The trailers before the movie were in 3D too and it was used very well throughout the whole movie. The movie was a lot better than I thought it would be-Ginormica kicks butt! ;D

Me too! I love both of them. The Second one was on Disney tonight. Matthew and I were flipping channels and saw it-about 3/4 over, but I looked at him, and he said "Awww Mom, not again!" But he gets sucked into it too, because he thinks Anne Hathaway is hot. What am I gonna do with this kid? He's only 8! ;D
