Yes it is.  It is about a young man who goes out in search of a fallen star to bring back to a girl as a birthday present to prove his love for her.  The fallen star who happens to be a (magical) young woman is also being hunted down by a powerful witch who wants her so she and her sisters can become young again.  Robert De Niro was hilarious in this movie.  Really refreshing movie.  And I usually favor horror/action movies.

Definately more violent and bloody. (Not better, by far) For me there were too many bad words and I wasn't sure what decade the movie was suppose to be based on.  They played 70's music and it sort of felt like the 70's era but yet there was a cell phone being used.  And in keeping with the 70's horror movie feel, characters who engage in sex in the movie always die.  Then again, almost everyone dies in this movie and all other Halloween movies. The best Micheal Myers yet, he was huge and terrifying in this version.

Darling - Julie Christie, Dirk Bogarde, Laurence Harvey, black and white, English, 60's, classic.  Loved it.

torture porn is on its way out. the only torture porn i've genuinely enjoyed so far is "captivity," and that was basically because it was so ineptly done it was actually amusing. whichever saw movie i saw just blew. and none of them are as upsetting as the 70s originals... it's funny, because i actually hate the originals, by and large, but compared to the remakes they rock.

no one has the brass ones to remake the grand daddy, though -- last house on the left! i bet they're saving that one, they'll give it a decent director and actually try and make it a good movie. you'd like it, kk -- it's adapted from a bergman flick. just throw in a few angry biker cultists and a pair of bumbling cops...

2 Days in Paris

We finally got around to seeing Snakes on a plane, which I wasn't really too interested in seeing for three reasons:
A.) The hype
B. & C.) Snakes and Planes - neither of which I'm too fond of.

But surprisingly, it was pretty well done, it wasn't as campy as I was expecting and the acting was really good (even by the computerized snakes - which I kept telling myself throughout the movie...it's only a computer snake...it's only a computer snake)  ;D


I also saw the original Meatballs movie (1979) starring Bill Murray.  By far one of my favorite summer camp movies ever made.  Almost made me want to go to summer camp.  My second favorite summer camp movie would probably be Little Darlings (1980) starring Kristi McNichol and Tatum O'Neal.

2 Days in Paris



Was that with Paris Hilton?

We finally got around to seeing Snakes on a plane, which I wasn't really too interested in seeing for three reasons:
A.) The hype
B. & C.) Snakes and Planes - neither of which I'm too fond of.

But surprisingly, it was pretty well done, it wasn't as campy as I was expecting and the acting was really good (even by the computerized snakes - which I kept telling myself throughout the movie...it's only a computer snake...it's only a computer snake)  ;D


I also saw the original Meatballs movie (1979) starring Bill Murray.  By far one of my favorite summer camp movies ever made.  Almost made me want to go to summer camp.  My second favorite summer camp movie would probably be Little Darlings (1980) starring Kristi McNichol and Tatum O'Neal.
We still have Snakes on a Plane still to watch, I will move to the top of the pile.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I'm looking forward to watching the AMC channel this week, because they're featuring some good Hitchcock films.  :)

We went to the cheap theater tonight and saw Evan Almighty.  I thought it was gonna be really stupid and wasn't especially enthusiastic about seeing it, but it actually turned out to be an ok movie.  Kinda cute.
