Very.  Sofia Coppola put modern music in the movie, so it's like what Baz Luhrman did when he set Romeo and Juliet in modern times.  Interesting juxtaposition...it works in its own way.

and it has some great cameos from a buncha guys who were big back in the day that you never see in anything anymore -- like bruce dern, as aileen's only friend... and that awesome bad guy from robocop as one of the evil tricks that aileen blows away. and that dude from deadwood and the movie i really know him from, jacob's ladder. i make this big thing about how women can't get good roles as they get older but it's true of guys, too, to a lesser extent. (although apparently deadwood guy still works a lot...)

ANYway. seriously, it's such an awesome movie. awesome.

There was lots of sex/sexual innuendo... you get it. But it was neat. I loved the movie overall.
But the way these people talked... it was so intelligent! I wish I could talk like that. I want to be a cynic!

i think chopping mall predated the whole direct-to-video revolution. mid- to late-80s, as i recall. it was actually cool when you could watch low-budget crap flicks like that in the theaters, there was the occasional diamond in the rough, yanno? although chopping malll wasn't one of them, it was just... rough. i mean, i remember enjoying it well enough but i seem to recall it being kinda blah. which i guess isn't terribly surprising.

I thought National Treasure was a cool movie...I like those adventure sort of movies...reminds me a bit of Indiana Jones.

I watched "Scoop" over the weekend. That's the one with ScarJo and Woody Allen. I am not a huge Woody Allen fan, but I liked him in this one. It was good  :)

I believe it was a kids movie (something I wasn't aware of, which explains a lot of it) it all seemed a bit forced to me.. of course, now I realise it was generally targetted at kids, I figure I'll cut it some slack. It was ok.

Yeah, the black and white film is so grainy it's almost surreal.  :)

I tried to watch the original Ocean's 11 with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr.  Great eye candy, but I just couldn't get into it.
