Yes!  I think THAT is what irritates me the most, I feel like I should brush something off my nose because it's in my peripheral vision.  >:( >:(

Yes, the brushing off is the most irritating, and you know what it is too.

Don't you love it when your cat sits on your lap, purring up a storm and then bites you on the chin.  :(  And don't you hate it while your cat is sitting on your lap, purring up a storm, biting you on the chin, you smell something awful.  8-P

Cat

I was seated in a crowded pub (60 people ? )  the other day, with 3 friends .... the 'local cat' (?) ... wandered right up to our table ... purred, looked at me. I responded in a friendly manner / petted it momentarily. Next thing ... it made signal of it's intent, standing on legs in begging way ... and leapt into my lap.

Spent a good half hour there (?) whilst I gave it loads of  love and attention.  I love it when they purr/ 'vibrate ?'  in a manner that tells you they're totally content. The name tag said 'Gizmo'.  Gizmo looked so deeply into my eyes at times ... for 20 seconds or more,  ... as though trying hard to read me / connect ? It was bizarre. What a tame cat though !  :)  8)

Yes, and of course, I loved 'Gizmo's' GOOD taste  :-X    ::) .... in picking 'Mister' .... to be with ....... out of the whole pub !    :P  :D    ;D

^ That is so cool!

For some reason (even though I LOVE cats) if I see them in a bookstore or library, they just never seem to warm up to me.  I guess I should act more aloof and then they'd be all over me.  ???

Here is a reenactment of Al's pub trip.  ;)

I bought this printer (multi function scanner/ copier) ... 6 months back ? It's taken me till today ........ to actually plug the bloody thing in ........ even though I've had all the time in the world. Well, in the meantime, I've managed to put the installation CD .. who knows where ! ?  >:(    :-[    :(      .....  so, yesterday, took the relatively easy way out (after spending half an hour or more trying to find it) ...... by downloading the software from the site !  8)  I had already re-acquainted myself briefly with the machine .. finding where the ink cartridges were installed ....  8) ........ could see the plastic tabs marking their places (black, yellow, blue, red) ..........

So, install software, .......... get all way through ......... asks me to insert ink !  Huh ! WTF ! ..... I think ?    ???    >:(  ???

Have another look ......... pull on tabs ........... NO ink cartridges installed !  ???    >:(    :-[    >:(

Who knows where the hell I've put them !

DYHIW you get to the marina to do work and your pants split in back-BIG TIME. You try to tape it up-first with scotch tape until you can find duct tape. But the duct tape didn't really hold. I thought about using staples but that would have really hurt to sit on. So, I'm sure the guy at the marina was well aware that I was wearing red underwear.  :o :o :o :-[ :-[ :-[

No, I doubt that that's the case. The account she has now is the same account that she's had since the SMF version of this site opened up in April of 2004.

I seem to recall that someone posted a thread in Lend A Wing Up entitled "Unable to find member 'ktelqueen'"... maybe the email address used was invalid or something. I'll see if I can dig up that thread and read it to see what was going on.

Mom always said I should be the bigger person and maintain my composure.  Not when the wench who my ex boyfriend cheated on me with is trying to date my brother.  Tried to warn him that she's a gold digger.  He flips out and says I'm trying to ruin his life.  No, I'm trying to save his damn bank account.  Yes, I am my brother's keeper.

I really hate that, The exterminator told me to pour bleach, or some antibacterial soap down the drain, apparently they breed down in the sink traps. Oh I also found that the cat litter box attracts them too. The bleach thing works really well. Hope this helps.

Like I did ... when I ran across that 'ex from hell'  ... last week ... who's caused untold damage to my psyche. However, wise people in the past ... have advised me to never engage in conversation with her again. Probably right, as trying to get a load of thoughts / feelings / resentments / explanations off the chest ... could lead to a chink in the armor, and the temptation for another try (futile ... not to mention her damaging fireworks / scenes) .

Yes, sometimes better to bite the lip, than go for the immediate feel-good payoff !

When unwanted noise ... constantly seems to be invading your living space ?

If I had a penny for every time VERY loud drilling sounds ... cut through my walls, and make it hard to think !  >:(

This kind of thing ... happens so frequently in the high rise where I live ... and the sound travels uncannily ...  so that the actual drilling may be floors or several flats away ... but cuts through so many apartments ... like a hot knife through butter.

Whether it's renovations to somebodies unit, or simply putting up 'Fire sign' warnings ... it seems never ending. Goes on for hours on end, but intermittently, so ... just when you'd gotten used to some peace again ...... Grr !  >:(  Don't know what's holding the building  up ?  There's probably more holes, than concrete now !  ???    ::)

no it's usually an adult who has to dial a 9 to get an outside then they hit the 1 (because they are trying to make a long distance call) but they hit the one twice.

A fatal flaw in the design and organisation of the emergency phone number, where in the UK it is 999 and you do have to hit the same three times.

My dad still accidently called it.  Back in the day when the nearby towns had a single digit town code.  He was calling his office whilst out on a job.  In the pay phone he forgot what he was doing and dialled 9 for an outside line as though he was in work and then dialled another 9 (as the local code for Leicester).  Next heard "Emergency Services.  Which service do you require?"  ;D

I honestly don't think she meant anything by it...she kind of says before she thinks sometimes. Meh...it's all good anyway...I don't need pizza! ;D

Well just in case if she did . . . keep a block of tofu handy.  I know people who speak before they think too.  You kind of just let it go.  Nope, just your darn veggie burger. >:(

When half of the big potato you microwave  ... turns out on opening ... to be ROTTEN. NO clues from the OUTSIDE .... to alert you . So ... you've paid TWICE as much as you should have ... AND lost half your meal, to boot !  >:(

Bet the store that sold 'em ... knew they were of poor quality !  >:(

Can the potato be taken back?

Do you still have a receipt?

There was sufficient left ... I took the chance .. and have eaten most of it.

It took me 10 mins approx, to microwave it.  I do have an even BIGGER spud in the fridge .. and am now dubious about IT.  The rest of the cooked meal, would have had to have been re-heated ... whilst waiting on the other potato. Too much trouble.

Don't know if I have a receipt .. but ... kinda hard to prove things about a potato ... which has NO 'i.d'. on it / packaging (it was loose).

Are you prepared to cook the potato another way, i.e mashed?

If it too is rotten .... I don't see how mashing it ........ will make ANY difference.

For mashing you dice the potato up first and you would noticed any form of rottenness and you know that cooking will not be required.

Guess you've got a point ... I would cut THIS big mother, into at least four, maybe eight !

Yes  ..... I DO have a masher, saucepan .... however, mashing is not something I usually do .... preferring to avoid washing up saucepans, etc .... when the potato .. if good ... tastes similar to mashed, when microwaved.

However , if I remember ... will probably go down that route.

Of course, I forgot about the washing up side of things.

This has happened to me, but I don't think the potato was rotten. When you micro it cooks the food from the inside out. If the potato is too big than the inside overcooks. Could it be that this is what happened?  It does have a blackened rotten appearance when it happens. It is always better when microwaving a potato not to get a very big one.

Interesting theory .... maybe there's something in that ? ..... However, I have cooked huge potatoes .... where this has NOT happened ... so    :-\\

This one didn't actually go black .... but it's texture ... when I pressed it with the fork ... was totally wrong, unlike the surrounding areas. It had certainly been cooked long enough.... I kept giving it more time, to try to soften THAT part of the spud up (core) ... which cooks first.

Think I've heard this can happen when they haven't been stored right / been frozen ?

When you click on a link here .... e.g post ... and wait, and wait, and wait .... only  to realise ... SOMEHOW .... that 'click' did NOT register ( maybe 15 seconds later ?)

Seems to be happening a LOT to me ... lately ......... and ..... I AIN'T sure whether it's this site, my mouse, my computer (virus/ spyware ? ) ... or I'm just not clicking hard enough (too soft ? )  anymore ?

Could even be something else ... but ................. GRR !

YES ! I have noticed that TOO  ... lately. Thought it was just a local problem / something at MY end.

Maybe some recent filters the mods have applied ?

As for the mouse being unrespondent ... maybe best to DOUBLE click ... when submitting ?

I'll see if that works.

Comforting to know ... we're all in the same boat. As for the cold .... I'm starting to think I MIGHT have just started to see daylight on one that's been bugging me for 4 or 5 days ?
