Well, I don't play the lottery very often. Last time I bought a ticket, it didn't mean anything. ::) In fact, I've never won the lotto; neither have my parents.

I hate watching a movie that I have never seen before with someone who has who has to tell you everything that is going to happen. "Oh, this is the part where she goes in there and that happens." UGH!!! If I am watching a movie that I have already seen with someone who hasn't, I will say, "Oh, you HAVE to watch this part" or "Pay attention here". Something like that without giving away what is going to happen.

Oh yes. Sometimes I may not even really need to talk to them, but I'll have a strong urge to want to talk to them. For example, earlier this week, as I was coming home on the train, there was this one young lady who I had met a month ago (actually that's when I started talking to her, but I had seen her around before then), and she was very busy studying; she had just started law school, I guess. Anyway, it was the first time I had seen her in about four weeks, but she really had to keep her mind focused on law-related stuff. So I respected that. We did talk, for about 60 seconds, though.
But still, anytime someone is really busy with something, I may feel disappointed about not being able to talk to them, but I respect their need for privacy.

I was responding to Pop Culture Girl's response; she said "you really need to talk to someone but they aren't available." 'Available' can mean a number of things. Anyway, I can't recall a time when I was doing something and kept getting interrupted by one person. However, I've been interrupted when I'm about to do something.

Oh, I hate that.  Hubby just assumes that everything is clean and puts it away (on the rare occasion that he actually unloads the dishwasher ;)).  It's usually the kids' cereal bowls or anything that has had eggs on it that don't come clean.

Hubby USED to laugh because I had to wash the dishes before I wash the dishes. Lately, I have been having the cleaning lady do them. He empties the dishwasher without looking. He doesn't laugh about me washing the dishes before I wash the dishes-he just thinks that I shouldn't have the cleaning lady do it anymore-unfortunately, I agree with him.  :-\\

Yeah, the best is when you work nights, there was a severe storm whilst you worked and when you come home to sleep and  it is hotter than hell so you need the windows open, the city maintanence people start chainsawing a tree to pieces just across the street from your open window!  I really hate it when, I work with nurses and they are on some "miracle" health product.  They are trained in phisiology and chemistry and they aren't skeptical enough to ask when purchasing the "miracle" pills, just what is the bio-chemical effect on the body that causes the wonderous results.  FGS these are health professionals.  Being a polite person, I just smile and nod.

PCG:

Unless you absolutely have to use a travel agent, you should avoid them.  Travel agents generally want to book you on a flight that generates the maximum commission for THEM, not the cheapest fare for YOU.  >:(

And in many cases, "cheap" fares that you see on the Internet are only available on the Internet.  The airline can price them cheaper because they then do not have to pay a travel agent's commission.  ???

Chat-4-eva: What time?
Ripp: Tomorrow at 9:00pm, bye! :)
Chat-4-eva: What room shall we chat in?
Ripp: You know Lounge-Time? Shall chat in there along with Murky_Missy, k?
Chat-4-eva: Murky_Missy? But she's really horrid to me, she always calls me a chatterbox. Does she have to?
Ripp: YES. I promised her she's nice to me, now BYE!
Chat-4-eva: No stay can't we invite Hell&Fath21 and 55_Pocket_Penny?
Chat-4-eva: Hello?
Chat-4-eva: /find = Ripp = codenumber = 3027
: Ripp codenumber 3027 is not logged on. Message left for Chat-4-eva: "Murky_Missy is correct on calling you a chatterbox! GET LOST!"
Chat-4-eva: /message = Ripp "You're an idiot"
Next day on Chat-Box
: Chat-4-eva has left Ripp a message: "You're an idiot"

Then that ****s me off

Sorry, but I thought this is just one of the things that most makes me mad

At the food shelf: We have had a lot of people come in in the last month and we ran out of meat. So naturally I ordered some-actually upping the order because of the high demand. Then today, I recieve an e-mail from our pres saying that we need to order meat-A DUH! I'm on it. I e-mailed her back telling her that I have already ordered and even upped the order and told her SPECIFICALLY that I ordered 3 cases of hotdogs instead of the usual 2. She e-mails me back saying, "I hope there is hotdogs in that order." If she had READ what I wrote, she would know that!

That's right, Vile. If you wish to know what Yorkshire pudding is Howard, it is a batter style accompaniment the Brits usually eat with Roast Beef. Believe me, Howard. They are gorgeous when made right.

You have the Yorkshire pudding on the same plate as the roast beef. As for buying it in the supermarket, you may be able to buy it from certain stores, Howard. If not you can make it yourself with this recipe:

...your Yorkshires never come out 'just right'?

I used to have terrible trouble cooking these (my gran was the undisputed expert), so I just use the ready-made ones out of the box nowdays - haven't let me down yet...

You can eat these things either savoury or sweet (see link), but I've never known anyone these days doing the latter...same with dumplings...

Tch! Getting hungry now...better put the dinner on...!

My Dad was a lift operator in Pittsburgh in the 1930's in a 5-story building.

He said he was running the elevator when the cable snapped TWICE.  Back then there was a big spring at the bottom of the lift shaft.

The first time it happened he "stiffed up" and he said his knees hurt like heck.  The SECOND time, he flexed his knees.

Soon after he got a different job.  Did not want to try for three!

Oh yeah. I've heard that #11982 is impossible to solve, but I haven't tried it yet. I've been playing Freecell for about six years now, and I've won every deal that I've played. Sometimes I'll see my mom playing a game of Freecell, and if I see that she's stuck, I'll help her. In Microsoft's online help, they claim that all 32000 are possible. So a guy I have talked to in the past wrote a code to check whether this was true, and it turns out that all but one are possible. (11982). Personally, I'm not all that good at it, but I do see the odd winning move.

Cat,

I can tell you that when an employee threatens to quit, the VAST MAJORITY of managers will simply sit back and call the employee's bluff.

If it gets to the point of a worker threatening to quit, things are so out of hand that the manager often will see that as a valid way to clear the controversy/issue.  Or, they simply take it as a personal affront and say to themselves "Yeah, go ahead and quit!  He/she won't have the 'nads to do it!"

I've had 5 employees threaten to quit over the period of 24 years, and none of them ever went through with it.  And I never reacted to their threats.  It's bad policy.  If an issue has festered for that long, a manager who has been acting in good faith has already made a decision based on what he/she thinks is best for the company.  To change that decision to keep a threatening employee from quitting would be to put the cart before the horse.  And if the manager has been acting in "bad faith" all along, he won't care about the threat anyway.  Either way, the threat is of little use.

Above is my $0.02 on threats to quit.  Never seen it work in my lifetime.

Good going Cat.  This is especially true since it was a Volunteer position.  There are lots of opportunities to volunteer, places where even an hour is precious and every effort is appreciated.  I for one have never threatened to quit a job, if it got that bad I went.  I might add that I have only quit  without notice twice in my life, but with, what I still believe all these years later, were just reasons.  The hair you have been tearing out will grow back in.  Hey, it's summertime,  a lit bit of moondancing will get you back on the rails. ::)',(' ;D', );

I know how you feel.  Everyday when I leave for work I tell the cat to do something useful, do you think he ever does?

Download the Weatherbug. It works like a charm and you don't have to worry about Weather.com which is usually wrong. :D

I DETEST the Weatherbug®.  My brother has it on his computer and it slows down the whole mess.  And in installing it, he got all sorts of "spyware" on his machine that I had to sweep off.
