Bill O'Reilly just said "It's never gonna get built because nobody will build it. Nobody's gonna lift a hammer down there!"
That means he'll send his pipsqueak gadfly boy over to the site every day to ask the foreman why he hates America!
Here kid, this is my Uncle Luigi's cement. Do you wanna be under it? Huh?

I just don't believe Glenn Beck could do that. I think he put boogers in the school lunch jello and squashed frogs with a hammer, but I don't see him as a murderer. Bill O'Reilly perhaps. Wolf Blitzer, definitely. Not Beck!
BUT -- I've been wrong before.

Maxwell Smart: What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Foo Bar: I'll tell you what I'd do, man: Christine O'Donnell and Sarah Palin at the same time, man.
Maxwell Smart: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Foo Bar: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.

Karma for Jocelyn. She's one of my "sheroes" as they say now! It's not how often I've personally taken her advice....count the grains of sand on the beach!
:-not in addition to) engaging in promiscuous sex, you will cut down on the spread of diseases. That's how I want the Top Doc to think!
Q. Should I or should I not masturbate?
A. Ask your priest or your rabbi...discuss it with your spouse...make peace with it on your own, how should I know?

:-that's what they call it!), dude. Male or female, your hand carries no diseases that you don't already have. It keeps every secret. It knows what you like, unless you're doing that dutch rudder thing.
Christine, the reason you (and your partner) oughta be fappin' (or shlickin') it is because it's only when your partner knows what they want, that they can tell you what they want. And vice versa. And that, Christine, is why you fail.
Now, since this is a humorous thread, it should go without saying that we're talking about Christine O'Donnell, so...
http://failblog.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/ad5f50b3-edd8-4937-9ce4-6e2b926bf583.jpg
...even her fail is win. It's not our fault, Christine. She's a Teabagger, and...

...as Sarah Vaughn (as remixed by Adam Freeland, and as non-sequitorially referenced by an equally awesome graphic novel) would put it, Chrstine gives me Fever... and the only cure requires moar than moar cowbell.

It's a shame that your probability of winning this election is...

"I was dabbling in witchcraft. I’d dabbled in Buddhism. I would have become a Hare Krishna but I didn't want to become a vegetarian and that is honestly the reason why because I'm Italian, I love meatballs."
...because with the Daughter of Bozo the Clown up there on the Hill, Cynthia McKinney would finally have competition.

((Hey, my great-grandfather died at Auschwitz too! He was a medic. He got run over by a guy in a truck while trying to help two wounded officers!))

If your boss told you to feel balls for a living, you'd quit, wouldn't you? Have some sympathy and compassion for your Freedom Fondler. Tell your Freedom Fondler that you realize it's degrading to both of you, but that you have to fly - so the choice is up to him. Either continue to fondle balls for a living, or man up, show his fellow Americans what it means to be an American, and quit. The choice is his, and he makes it every time he puts on that uniform.

Karma, and ...a flashback to the most prescient album cover of 1989:

The TSA is all about Power, Inc. The whole ball-feeling thing manages to combine dangerous sex with being super stupid - and in terms of customer service, they're about as friendly as a hand grenade. That hard left chick in charge of the thing is definitely no Einstein. And yet they've never managed to defuse the ticking time bomb of tension which could explode into a conflict at any moment. It's like they're a bunch of wannabe Airborne Rangers just stealing, stealing, in the name of the Lord. Strange things abound. But hey, as long as the technology works. I see the fire burning, but I don't think I'm askin' for heaven on earth, I'm not even askin' for change. I'm just making a positive suggestion, trying to get the message out, trying to fix the machine. But that's reality for me. Is there a way out? My mind's at the end of its tether. What's my mission now? Now what?
(Karma for someone who can nail every reference in that last paragraph.)

I noticed the date when I saw it yesterday. But, I still say they will just recycle it. And then when they talk about North Korea, they can just use the same map & change the name. Cuts down on searching for maps for the RIGHT countries they are talking about. You know, it is very difficult to actually KNOW where these countries are located.

Ghonim, who comes from an affluent Egyptian family, said the activists who organized the protests intentionally designed their movement to be anonymous and faceless, without a clear leader. He cited the movie "V for Vendetta" as a source of inspiration.
When asked whether he was referring to a famous scene of the film's protagonist blowing up Parliament in London, Ghonim laughed. No, he said, he drew inspiration from a character who anonymously advocated for change.

The funniest thing about this whole Libya shebang is that as of today, it's not even America's war anymore, so what are America's isolationists so worried about?
It's NATO's problem now, so set your calendar back to 1994, fire up your flight simulator of choice, and crank up the Laibach!
fXAFEY-XQAw
(The original was just a funky techno-industrial version of Holst's "Mars: Bringer of War", but I went with the video from the tour because it explains the backstory behind the album. Laibach got their start in a place that had been stomped on by Germans and Russians alike, and their schtick was to take the most dramatic chunks of both Soviet and Nazi propaganda, and mishmash it into something that'd always leave you with lingering doubts as to what their - and your - politics were. That was the whole point: use the ingredients of totalitarianism to question any wannabe-totalitarian.)
Feeling a little more retro? The problem with Edwin Starr's War was that it never really answered its own question. Laibach's cover did.
qm3LaqO-lAA
"War, (hungh!), what is is good for?" (GM, IBM, Newsweek, CNN...)
And now I have to find their cover of Ride of the Valkyries (LOL, "VolksWagner" :) and figure out what they did to Bach's fugues.
If you're up for something a little less political, their covers of Sympathy for the Devil and The Final Countdown were every bit as epic when it came to self-parody as their political stuff.

OK, so technically he answered it, but that doesn't change the fact that Starr - as great a musician as he was - was still wrong, and Laibach was right.

I know this post could be put in the "Rants R Us" thread but since it is a political rant-I'm posting it here!
Why do all the news agencies have to cover everything that Donald Trump says or does. The guy is an idiot. And by giving him the publicity, they are doing EXACTLY what he wants. He is NOT running for pres-he is promoting his t.v. show (which I have never nor will EVER watch!) So PLEASE, PLEASE ENOUGH with Donald Trump!

I can't speak for their doctoring but politically they're both cranks.
In the same week Rand Paul declared universal healthcare would make him and his office staff literal slaves, Ron Paul told Chris Matthews that Jim Crow was was a government program and it would never work in a libertarian state because private enterprise wouldn't stand for it. I think Rand was just being a drama queen. Ron Paul, however, saw the Jim Crow South with his own eyes as an adult. He knows barber shops and restaurants in Dixie would have made a tidy profit being "white only" after Civil Rights if they could get away with it...and they still would, sad to say.

Speaking of kinks of the rich and infamous, over the weekend, we found out that IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn has sexual issues a little more worrisome than simply having a chick's name.
http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/4661/maidinmanhattan2.jpg
Speculation's pretty rampant (Was he set up, did he mistake the maid for an escort, or did he OD on Viagra and just go half-Beck on the nearest available female), but by all accounts, whatever he did to that hotel maid crossed the line so badly that he actually got charged with it.

Ain't that sort of misidentification always a problem if you get your escorts to dress up as hotel maids and tell 'em to pretend they don't like it?

Well, lets see. A war is when we try (usually successfully) to defeat another county's armies. an intervention (as iun Chile 1973) is when we try to achive our ends by "other" means, and a squirmish is what football teams do to practice for the big game

As of this writing, looks like another 1% drop at tomorrow's open, or 100+ on the Dow. Markets are still assuming a deal gets done, they're just not as sure as they were on Thursday and Friday.

As long as we're fessing up, I've had an interesting two weeks in a company that's working on a better vaccine for Hepatitis B. Up 20% one morning, down 40% 10 minutes later when people read the fine print, up 20% from the low during the conference call, down 15% over the next two weeks, then up 25% one morning 2 weeks later. It's a damn good thing it's only 8% of my holdings, but it still keeps me up at night. That, along with some fish oil, are my two most interesting lotto tickets. I also own some 15-20 other names in other sectors, but it's the biotech that never fails to bring the lulz.
Disclaimer: Investing in biotech is like crossbreeding Pinkie Pie with Fluttershy. Months of listless action followed by either grand moments of schizophrenically-delusional exuberance, or coin-incinerating psychotic rage. Even when it's not profitable, it's never boring. As a former shareholder of Boston Scientific, maker of heart stents, and Medtronic, maker of implantable cardiac defibrillators, you can use what you learn along the way to freak out your doctor, reassure your parents, and sometimes, a little bit of both. For a good laugh, check out 5-year charts on VVUS, ARNA, and OREX, all of which tried and failed (two of which probably failed permanently) to bring an effective obesity drug to the market.
Disclosure: I still own the HepB vaccine company and the fish oil company and add/subtract to my position for the fun of it, while retaining a core position that I intend to hold until either the company conclusively implodes or shoots to the moon. I have no position in BSX, MDT, VVUS, ARNA, or OREX. Positions may change at any time.
But you're not here to listen to me rambling on about stocks.

Mutual Funds. Actually since rates will go astronomically high, like in the 80s, people who HAVE money and don't need to borrow will do very well. Rates will soar, so high interest rates will be paid. Another reason for them to want to tank the economy.

Y'know, as miserable as today's trading action was (seriously, WTF dudes?), I can take solace in this.
I spent the entire fracking day trawling the derpfest of wharrrrgarble that has become Free Republic, and the hippiefreakout of moonbattiness that has become Daily Kos, and both sides are adamantly convinced that they've been utterly sold out to the other. Obama and Pelosi are jackboot-wearing fascist sellouts, and Boehner and Cantor are librulRINOmutantraitors. There is not one single person on either the left or the right who is happy with this deal, and who doesn't regard it as a total sellout to the "other side".
That, to me, indicates that the deal was probably a pretty decent compromise. Everybody's pissed off.
But the moment that put it all in perspective? It was after hours, and my finger was hovered over the "justincasetheyscrewitup, buy the 3x inverse fund at the market at whatever price the market will bear" button in one window, C-SPAN in another, with about a minute to go. The outcome was almost certain - but not 100% certain - and I was like "WTF? Cheering on the floor of the House?"
Turns out the cheering wasn't for passage or failure. It was because Rep. Gabby "I need this like I need a hole in the head" Giffords showed up - unannounced (and therefore almost certainly neither a PR operation or sympathy play to garner votes for either side) - on the floor to cast her first vote since some un-named farktard went ape-p00p. For the next sixty seconds, our Congresstards dug deep and found the one small kernel of themselves that was still capable of acting like an American.
Gabby? You go, girl!
And the hyperpartisans on both sides and their respective peanut galleries on the Internets? Fark 'em all.

Obama is a tool. The Tea Party says jump, Obama says, "How high!"
Giffords is an omen. She got shot in the brain and she's walking around. Today the American people got shot in the brain and are tomorrow are gonna be walking around trying to figure out what happened.
They put Larry Kudlow on "Washington Journal" this morning. The man has about as much sense as a half a blind retarded sparrow but CSPAN gives him a platform to say, "Ra-Ra-Ronald Reagan, Ra-Ra-Small Government! Let free enterprise work its magic!" The only way they could have balanced his act would be to schedule the president of the Flat Earth Society. His presence felt like an elephant taking hot dump on you at 8:00 in the morning. Couldn't sit through that wingnut's interview.

You sure you haven't read Atlas Shrugged? It took her 1100 pages to say it, but that was the whole point of the book, and a point lost on her detractors and the Teahadists alike. In defense of her detractors, most of them claim never to have read the book. The Teahadists, by carrying her mantle, have no such excuse.

And why doesn't Bernanke buy it directly from the U.S. treasury, and not Goldman Sachs?
???

For pretty much precisely the reason outlined in the video. No BS. That's the whole point of QE: to bail out the investment banks, same thing as it was in Europe (the names of the banks have changed, but it's the same idea) over the weekend.
As miserable as Monday was for anybody even slightly long (myself included), and as miserable as Tuesday looks to be (yay, compared to the -300 I saw an hour or two ago, -150 is the new up!) it could have been a lot worse.

this is genius. and the thing that pisses me off most is, it's probably done by some right-wing bozo who thinks we should go back to the bush years, having somehow not figured out that we haven't changed a goddamned thing.
dude, i wish mccain had won. we'd be doing the same sheesh, but at least the right wingers would still be getting blamed for it. obama. GAH. there was so much hope, and now there's so much hangover.

If the economy remains as bad as it has been since '08, the Repubs might not even wanna steal the election in '12!

He most certainly cannot. I mean, look at this:

Compared to Michelle, not only is he not even trying, he doesn't even look like he's enjoying it.

No matter how envious he might be, when push came to shove, Marcus choked.
