I have to honestly wonder if the blame for some people not evacuating New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina hit should really be blamed solely on the Mayor...and if the poor, elderly and disabled people, especially those without family, in the Big (Not so)Easy(anymore) had the AFFORDABLE means to get out....

It all makes me wonder how well New Orleans emergency services prepare for stuff like hurricanes..or even something like a possible terrorist attack...

It was the same-sex marriage thing.  In 2002 California passed, if I remember correctly, prop. 22.  It passed with about 60%.  The newly voted in law says that California will only reconize a marriage between one man and one woman.  Newsom violated that law and illegally married gays.  If he had instead illegally handed out gun carry permits, he'd be in jail.  But for some reason, he can get away with illegally handing out marriage licenses.  Those marriage licenses were later voided by the California state supreme court.  But Newsom is still in there, thinking he is supreme dictator of San Francisco and that he is above the law.

The Mayor refused to authorize overtime pay for the bus drivers.  According to the evacuation plan, busses were to be used for the evacuation.  As we all know, they were underwater when it was over.

The Mayor refused to pubically announce the Amtrack trains that were available free of charge to evacuate the area.  All of the trains left empty.

The Mayor insisted that people use the SuperDome, even though he did not have any security there, and no facilities for when the dykes failed, and the sewage backed up.  And no water on-site, for when the water was poluted.

The list goes on, but that is enough for me.

Oh puhleeez! Between illegal gun licenses and illegal marriage licenses, which one actually has the potential to cause serious crime, damage, and harm to citizens? The marriage thing was an obviously futile act of protest. Handing out illegal licenses to hold and operate deadly weapons is something TOTALLY different and you know it.

Again, you haven't read what he actually said: he hasn't said anything about being "equal in holiness", but he did talk about al-Qaradawi's reformist agenda being similar to that of Pope John XXIII's

The quote about the Palestinians using their bodies as weapons is accurate, but then it's also true: whether you agree with their cause or not, they are so overwhelmingly outgunned that they'll fight back with whatever they've got.

The one think Ken Livingstone is not, and that is a moron - he's an odd mix of radical socialist and liberal (probably the word "libertarian" is closer to the US usage); he's also a very popular politician who's run London in a couple of different guises for a large part of the last 25 years or so.
