Emo, Eno...?

EMO is short for "Emotional". And is currently a trendy disease spreading across the teenagers of today. Some EMO kids might look like this:

http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/images/emokid.gif

Urban Dictionary supplied this definition:

1. Emo

Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who don't smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5ths of the face at an angle.

An EMO person is never happy, and always has the urge to shoot themselves. They have a fascination with pink pistols, they often say "Note to self: I miss you terribly, this is what we call a tragedy", and use a plethora of hardcore X's.

I am none of the above, I tell you *violently shakes fist in the air*  >:(

Want a day off work?

So you want a day off. Let's take a look at what you are asking for. There are 365 days per year available for work. There are 52 weeks per year in which you already have 2 days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work. Since you spend 16 hours each day away fron work, you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available. You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break which counts for 23 days each year, leaving only 68 days available. With a 1 hour lunch each day, you used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work. You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave. This leaves you only 20 days per year available for work. We are off 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days. We generously give 14 days vacation per year which leaves only 1 day available for work and I'll be darned if you are going to take that day off!

It's this bit.  it's 16 hours (assuming you work 9 to 5) a day not in work but that isn't taken away from the days you are in work.

Time for Andrew to do the Maths..

365 days a year,
- 52 x 2
= 261 days

- 2 sick days
- 5 holidays
- 14 vacation days
= 240 days of works

240 x 24 = 5760
240 x 16 = 3840
5760 - 3840 = 1920

1920/24 = 80

Coffe Break = 0.5 hours
Lunch break = 1.0 hour

Breaks = 1.5 Hours

80 days of work.. - 1.5 x 80 divided by 24 = 5.

By my best reconing you have around 75 days of work a year  ;D

I didn't mess around with the length of the working day, somebody who's good at math's can mess with that, or alternativley, somebody not writing a history essay  ;)

I was once told by my HS geometry teacher that I had a math mind. I could do the work-and do it right but I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I can do abstract thinking and such but I have trouble with simple arithmatic (which I need a calculator for). But, in college I ACED my mid-termed for probs and stats. I just don't get it.

I don't describe myself as conservative or liberal, seeing as you can be more than one or the other.

And why do they still call themselves "Republicans" and "Democrats"?  They aren't in their party because they prefer one form of government over another (republic or democracy) so I think the party names should be changed.

Sigh.. hold on, Beth.

Momus is musician Nick Currie. He was born in the town of Paisley in early 1960. He has since moved to.. uh.. somewhere else. He puts out 2-3 albums per year, and is the leading-force behind Japanese musician Kahimi Karie. He has done work with Beck, The Magnetic Fields, and Cornelius, as well as The 6ths, Stereo Total, and Adam Green. He is of the avant-pop style of music.

Avant-pop. That's where you take catchy, pop-like melodies and put them to odd instruments. Avant-pop is also sometimes the darker side of folk music, or something like The Beatles, who really founded the avant movement.

He's also some dance music, and a Japanese style called Shibuya-Kei.
