You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that's in the side that's in, goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.

When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When both sides have been in and out including the not outs, that's the end of the game'.

Van McCoy continued his successful production career with, among others, Faith, Hope And Charity, until his premature death from a heart attack in 1979.

Full marks (as that was when 'The Hustle' was from), but his illustrious 'behind-the-scenes' career stretched right back to the 50s...

I was just having fun posting pics from a game I'm waiting for to come out(Dragon Quest 8.), and the technique she was doing is actually called "Hustle Dance", it heals hit points.

I remember attending the Parade by the Royal Family (I was positioned in the Strand) and went on to the Mousetrap.

From the top of my head maybe something with touching a coffin at funerals, for instance, saying "You will not see me there" and patting the top of the coffin?

It was one of the first records I have vivid (and rather horrifying) memories with... :o
Our music teacher used to play it a lot during lessons and....she danced to it...oh, the horror! :o

But it's still a classic to me! (although it is a cover)

The origin is unknown, though some writers have pointed to pre-Christian rituals involving the spirits of sacred trees such as the oak, ash, holly or hawthorn. There is, I’m told, an old Irish belief that you should knock on wood to let the little people know that you are thanking them for a bit of good luck. There’s also a belief that the knocking sound prevents the Devil from hearing your unwise comments. Others have sought a meaning in which the wood symbolises the timber of the cross, but this may be a Christianisation of an older ritual. It wasn’t always wood that was lucky: in older days, iron was also thought to have magical properties, and to touch iron was an equivalent preventative against ill-fortune.

That might be true... :-\\

I was just thinking it may have to do with the cross that Jesus Christ died upon. It was (obviously) made of wood, and therefore (touching) wood would provide a certain amount of, well, protection perhaps..? A blessing from above? ???

One theory of mine is William Shakespeare. At the start of Hamlet:

SCENE I. Elsinore. A platform before the castle.

FRANCISCO at his post. Enter to him BERNARDO

BERNARDO
          "Who's there?"

I have always wondered did you hear a knock on a door before the first line, and 16th century parodies followed.
