I honestly think the fact that users can erase their own accounts is ridiculous.  There are people who want to leave, so they erase their account, but then decide they want to come back so they start a new account with the same name. 

I left a messageboard once, and I had no intention of ever returning to it, so I PM'd a moderator and asked to be banned, because there was no "Delete your own account" feature.  I didn't even know such things existed until I came here :D

Actually he did return, but under two different names. The first time he came back, he was DevoRule...but he erased that account and didn't come back again for another several months. You know that fellow Donnie Darko who's started a lot of threads? Well, that's what he is now. He was Full underscore House underscore Fan and then DevoRule.

I registered an account at pogo.com about four years ago, but I'd forgotten my password, so I signed up with a new account. Of course, I haven't used that one in more than a year...they probably haven't deleted my accounts on that site, and I've even thought of emailing the mods over there and asking if there's some way to do it.



We have 2 different accounts with pogo. The first one was when we had AOL and since we got rid of AOL we can't use that account anymore. How nice.  ::)  The second one we can't use because we can't use IE on our computer (don't know why-a bug?) and you HAVE to use IE with pogo. So there are two accounts that are dormant over there. Oh, I was told that the only way to fix the IE problem is to wipe out the entire system and start from scratch again.  :o

His last couple of posts were a bit bizarre (even for him!)  One of them was sort of a fight between him and bad-finger-fan and the last one was in the 'what age will you die' thread where he pretended to die whilst typing the message.  He hasn't been back since.

OK I never saw any of those posts, this probably answers a lot of my initial thoughts on the matter as I did suspect a fallout somewhere along the line, thing is Mr Mister said he really liked Mike so dunno wtf has gone on ..Oh well whatever, glad I know about that other stuff now, it wraps it up for me.

Going a wee bit off topic...yesterday this thread had 2,000 replies on it, and now it's down to 1,969 (not counting this one)? ??? Some member's posts must've been deleted. Also I noticed that the number of replies on lTE is 25600+, while yesterday it was at 25800+ (I know this even though I do not read/post on it).

On the big boards thread Chucky said that a member had asked for their account to be completely deleted.  That's why the post count has gone down in various places

He Mr Mister) expressed his sentiments and I expressed mine, nothing more than that. . he put together this elaborate colage of pics that told the story of our disagreement but ended with 2 tribes of indians smoking the Peace Pipe so as far as i know, we're cool. Nothing said that should drive him away I hope. And when I said i hope I didn't say anything to drive anyone away, it was regarding this mystery member of 2000 posts or so and I was just being goofy. Everything you said above Mike (including that Mike's a nice guy and re 'greener pastures'), is spot on. There's no big mystery / deal to my break. It really started as the goofy idea that I'd play out the idea that maybe I really had died after that last observation/gag in my post of a week back. Then I decided to challenge myself to stay away from this site for a week ... to try to clear up some of my clutter etc; etc; (unfortunately, I haven't done brilliantly in that regard).

So I didn't even peek at any posts or anything at all, else I thought I'd get sucked in again. Generally, I reckon this is a very nice site, and I've had a lot of fun here. Don't have too many 'axes to grind' after 'burying the hatchet' in your head  ;D, Mike.  I hope you and your tribe aren't going to Sioux me! ;)

Good to have you back Al. I think you may have had some members worried about your death prediction  :o. I think some time away is a good thing and you may actually get some things done around the house but it sounds like that didn't happen. I appreciate the compliment and I'll be happy to return it and declare that you're a good guy too with a good heart as well and obviously were missed by many. The hatchet in my head didn't leave any scars, and I've had many buried there before and will probably have more in the future. My lovely wife has planted a few and she probably had good reason. I know I have a big mouth sometimes and it tends to get me into trouble once in awhile, but mostly I try to treat people decently and I know you do too.  This is a good place to hang out, with lots of good people.  8)
