I've seen a couple or posts where people ask if someone is banned.  I haven't banned any users in quite some time.  I don't even think I've banned a spammer lately (I think the last one, was the PM spammer, who it turns out has hit a few other boards lately).  I usually won't discuss bans, but if you ask me, I can confirm whether or not someone has been banned.

I've been monitoring the site quite a bit for the past day (since the last crash) and it seems like aside from one hiccup this morning, things are better than before.  So hopefully people aren't leaving due to the system performance as of late.

oohh I love San Francisco... I've been there twice!  My winter jacket is a San Francisco jacket that I bought at Fisherman's wharf for 20 bucks. THe best Damn winter coat I've ever owned. Good point. In fact, the person in question was indeed the one who started the original "Longest Thread Ever".

I do agree with you that people have a tendency of jumping over serveral new people if they THINK it MAY be someone else. There have been a few times when they were WRONG!  (Case in point, when Badfinger_Fan joined last year.) There was also another time when someone joined under the name Alyssa. I can't remember if Alyssa did indeed to be another member or not. The account wasn't around long enough. I think a lot of people around here are very quick to judge.

Then, if that wasn't bad enough...he would practically spam every other thread with the same sort of topics...it just got really out of hand....and, he was warned several times...but he wouldn't change his ways. 1. Despite being pretty squeaky clean and nonconfrontational myself, they're all underdogs I've tended to side with. ;) And 2: people can only apparently see the bad or negative surface things about them and refuse to look past that.


Just something to keep in mind for anyone who may like me: Before I joined, I'd been ghosting for awhile, reading alot of topics (as I've done on most boards beforehand). I'd seen quite a bit that looked interesting to me, but Donnie's pop culture observations were kinda what made me bit the bullet and say Hey, this looks cool, maybe I could add to this discussion too. No, the decadeology stuff wasn't solely why I signed up, not at all, but probably had a hand in it.

So when you're insulting a friend, you're in a way insulting me too. Yes, we've established that him keeping everything in one or two threads per section would've maybe been better than starting new ones all the time, but you've gotta admit, that's a pretty small thing to act like a pack of Elementary school bullies over.

I have seen a lot of people on this board act like a pack of Elementary school bullies more than I care to remember. Each one of us have our own reasons for coming here. This is SUPPOSED to be a fun place but when people start ganging up on someone, it just p!sses me off. And I have seen it happen too many times.


Personally, I thought Donnie was ok. I didn't care about the subjects of his topics-so I never went to them. But they didn't bother me. I am just amazed how many people jumped all over because of it especially when you see some of the threads they start.

I think people's problem with him was that in effect he like took over the board with his topics for like a 4 month period, if you look at the old posts you can see how bad it was. I told him numerous times that he needed to calm down, but he just has a hard time controlling himself. However like I said, he wasn't the only one.

This is a perfect example of being respectful towards someone whether or not you're like they are. From what I can tell, you seem like one of the nicest people on here, too.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna be slightly biased since I became friends with Donnie and like alot of those types of threads. Although I'd still feel the same way if I didn't. I'm not asking anyone to change their views. It's cool if someone doesn't like nitpicky threads or Decadeology. Everyone is different and that's perfectly okay, but to attack the person directly or to negate the good in them just because they talk about something you don't like -- that's what I feel is wrong.

Corny as it sounds, having some respect and tolerance really makes the world a better place, imo.

I'm sure we've all been teased for something in our lives (myself included), and that's not a good feeling. I almost got in a fight more than once, defending some kids in school when they got bullied, so I guess I feel for people in that situation. Even when people got on Donnie's case, he handled it well and usually even joked around with it. That's not an easy thing to do.

Yeah, that's true. If I didn't have anything to contribute to a decade thread it was still fun to read(at least to me) just to see what others might have thought about it.
