Well..yesterday Chris' sister, brother, niece, and nephew came over to go trick-or-treating....and Vaughn totally REFUSED to go. He made a HUGE scene, wouldn't put on his cute Clifford the big red dog costume...and ended up in a time out for the way he was acting...and then he fell asleep while everyone else went out to get candy. Chris passed out candy while I babysat his little month old nephew.
Tonight, we went up to my grandma's house to help her pass out candy. My mom got Vaughn a new costume, thinking that he may not have enjoyed wearing the Clifford one...so she got him a pirate costume....he wore it around the house, but refused to wear it. We ended up putting a little orange Halloween sweatshirt on him with jeans...and he went trick-or-treating for about 1/2 hour around her house. We realized that he was under the impression that he had to give the people candy instead of receiving it. My grandma had put a few candybars in his bucket and then when we went to the first house to trick-or-treat....he reached in and handed the lady one of his candybars...LOLOLOL ;D After we explained to him that he would be GETTING candy...he seemed to be ok with it.

Hahaha, that's funny. I'm suprised he didn't want to wear the pirate costume. He seemed to love it the day before.

Today I will be meeting Jonathan Edwards (ex-triple jump champ) and talking to him about my work for some radio series he's doing. Also I'm having lunch with the new Vice Chancellor. Sadly I'm paying.

that is what I am hoping. I called the places that I was at yesterday to see if it was turned in and I made a report to the police so that if one is turned in to them, they know the description of mine.

I really hope you find it Tina...that happened to Bethany last Christmas. We went shopping at the mall and she had dropped her wallet (with all of her Christmas money in it!!)...thankfully...a very kind person found it and turned it in to the mall office....and she was able to retrieve it. I will keep my fingers crossed for ya! ;)

On a similar note...
One time a few years back I lost a floppy disk with a few files of mine on it... I even remember the last place I used it in (a computer lab), but I apparently had forgotten to take it out of the computer I was using. I never found it, but a few of the files on that diskette were password protected.

I am in a construction union so I get jobs out of the union hall. They usually last anywhere from
a month to 6 months(during the Big Dig it could be a year or two). When the job ends you go to
the hall, let the agents know you are available and if something comes up they call. I do real well,
you have to put in 1200 hours a year to get your benefits, I have done that this year, so unemployment
is kinda like vacation.

It depends, on the short side a week or two, but last year was very bad and I went nine months.
That is when I ended up finding this board so I wasn't so bad. I get unemployment checks and
that is enough to cover the bills. When I went into construction an old timer said "don't live a
lifestyle that you can't support on unemployment" and it was the best advice I ever got.

For a precarious job situation such as yours, Danoota, that is very good advice. Do you love construction or would you be prepared to go for a more 'stable' job situation?

I'm well enough established in this that I am able to work steady, (last year was an abberation, and
truthfully I didn't try as hard as I could have to find work). The money I make is still much more
than I would If I went back to an office routine, and the benefits(pension, health care) are decidedly
much better. If I plod along for another 10 years I will be able to retire with a nice pension, then find
myself some part time work for the extras.

Went to son's orientation day for high school. Had belated birthday drinks with friends this afternoon and went to a restuarant for dinner with friends (another belated birthday celebration). Had a really fun night and got some great gifts. :)

Well last night, saw some of the crappiest fireworks ever (lasted all of 10 minutes). Seriously, the fireworks let off down the street were more impressive.
Today, slept until 'round 10, did some housework (eg: cleaned my room), study, then watched some old TV shows on my PC.

Went to a bookstore quite a distance away because Carlos' colleagues/students gave him a gift certificate back in May (as a retirement gift). Yes, spent lots of $$$. I have been to the gym this week and ready to go again tomorrow morning. I have also assembled a tall bookcase (yes I did some D.I.Y :D ;D) and feel pretty proud of myself. I've just got a toilet seat to fix and some wall fittings in the toilet. :)
I just hope the landlord comes around tomorrow to help fix the washing machine as I am down to my last pair of socks. :-[

I lifted 110 pounds on the leg press last week... I decided to move down to 90 and work my way up again so my muscles won't be so sore. I use 50 pounds on the benchpress machine (thinking about adding more weight to that), and 70 pounds on this machine where you put your feet under these things and push up, using your leg muscles to lift the weights.
Those are a few of the machines... I also use something called the Fluid Ube or something like that that is a plastic oval shaped thing with water in it and you grab the handles and push (forwards or backwards), and make the water swirl. There are levels of how much water you push; I have it on the maximum setting (20).

As long as you are responsible using them. I use a program set by my instructor (I am supposed to take an hour but I take about an hour and a quarter/half each time to allow for proper resting in between excercises - treadmill, rowing machine, bike and the crosstrainer (I do three of the four each time and alternate) and then use the weights). My program will be reviewed in about 8 weeks time. :)

I stepped out of my front door about 15 minutes ago because the dog was barking (which she almost never does) but there was nothing there. Then i noticed a friend of mine filling up at the gas station over the road (big busy road) I shouted at the top of my lungs.. "THEY'LL KILL YOU FOR IT THERE - I CAN SEE IT 8 CENTS CHEAPER PAST THE HIGHWAY!"

I've been kinda busy today (Saturday), so I've had practically no time to come to the computer. I spent most of today doing some painting with my parents. We did two walls of the family room today; that's all we had planned to do. It had been thirteen months since we last did some painting, so we wanted to continue with the next phase. Also, I had some studying to do (of course). And in the evening, I had my monthly "diners club" dinner to go to.

Speaking of tickets and theme parks, I won a pair of tickets for Magic Mountain at the young adult picnic I went to back in August, and the tickets are good through the end of the year. I just haven't decided who to go with yet, or what day to go. Although I do have at least one possibility in each.

At work I am still catching up after having some time off last week to look after James. I still have to finish off some clothing experiments, I have two lab spaces to rearrange and a lecturer to hassle about the tidiness (or otherwise) of his space.
At home it is my daughters birthday tomorrow so I have just been into town to buy her another present.

Today is my daughters 7th birthday. She opened her presents this morning before going to school and then we had to dash to the supermarket to buy chocolates for her to share around the class. I'd asked hubby when he went shopping yesterday but he forgot.
I've got a Health, Safety and Environment Committee meeting this afternoon. And I need to think how to word a reminder e-mail I'm sending out to union members. I've e-mailed them once and someone else has written to them all asking for information. So far about 50% have replied. ::)
After work I have to fetch both kids and take Elizabeth to her stage class. Tonight we will be getting a demonstration of how to do the hairstyle for the competition she is practicing for and a photographer will be taking group photos for the local paper.

well, normal day until we had a storm and the power went off..and the family that hates me came over ;D
We had some great arguments and i ended up going out in the garage for a couple of hours. Fixing the work bench and making a new CD Rack. Then i took the dog for about an hour walk before going to the basement and fixing the DSL line.

Well, we decided to go to this Christmas Wonderland type of store that we go to every holiday season. They have trains set up....Christmas trees, lights...it's very neat! Then, we went to Pizza Hut afterwards.

They haven't figured out what was wrong with significant, but he is out of the hospital and feeling fine, probably a bout of serious exhaustion. He will be taking it a bit easier and eating better, which is a lot better than dealing with me if he doesn't. We will all try to relax a bit this weekend.

I woke up bright and early and then did some early Christmas shopping. Time to throw in some dough to my checkings to cover for Christmas expenses, and then comes Tax day, I will have a nice refund check in the mail :0) So, I should be covered!

Today was a very nice day!! Me, Vaughn and my mom went to a local Christmas/Holiday parade (my dad, Chris, and a few friends went down to Pittsburgh to watch some high school playoff games)....then we ordered Chinese, and shopped for awhile.

He is a workaholic, very type A, and he was so run down that they said if he had waited another couple
of days he would have collapsed and it could have been ragic. His iron levels were extremely low, and he was dehydrated, this and a family history of heart attacks, high blood pressure... Well, they kept him Thursday and Friday and got his levels back up gave him some supplements and have scheduled more
tests on Wednesday. Today he is, can you believe it, back at work, yes, on a Sunday. That is just the way he is and I can't change him. :(

So get this...My significant goes in the hospital for a checkup and ends up overnight getting fluids because he was so dehydrated they made him stay over night. I was driving in town and got into a fender bender with my car. I went to the library to stare at the wall and wait for the phone call to say everything was all right at the hospital and someone stole my pocket book. I borrow my brothers car and someone rear-ends me(no damage thank god, I was so relieved I shook the guys hand!) Then I get a call from my sister, my brothers dog(18 years old) died and he was beside himself. It was the full moon, and to tell you the truth I was almost afraid to leave the house. Everything seems to have straightened itself out, except Paul has to go back for a colonoscopy, do me a favor, think polyps.

I swear they're not actually that bad - it's only very slight blurring which only occurs in objects which are a good distance away. It's probablies just tiredness (I haven't had more than 8 hours sleep since Thursday)
