today I spent the entire day packing....and being on the telephone with brokers, banks, and insurance agents....concerning the house! I will not be around for a little while....chris is taking down the computer tomorrow...and who knows when we will get it up and running.....probably next week sometime!! Attended a meeting at work and had the rest of the day off for study.

In a bit i am going to wash the inside of the windows in my bedroom.. they are looking a bit grubby.

I just sent some emails from a bank I've never heard of to spam@uce.gov.  Prior to that, I went to Target and spent way too much money on bday gifts for my middle guy who'll be 7 on Monday :)  Shortly, I'm leaving to go pick up the oldest and take him to the dr, then after that, have to take the middle one to the tutor & somewhere in between, I have to figure out what's for dinner.....it's looking like a frozen pizza night ;)

Gonna clean my room, and get my stuff ready. Later this evening I'll be going over to a friend's house for the rest of the 3-day weekend.

Went big grocery shopping, cleaned out the cabinets and refridgerator and hopefully that's it for the day.

Went and played Golf for 4 hours. I went round in 107 strokes which isn't bad at all considering they host semi-pro tournaments on that course.

Pretty exhausted now.

It's my first time out this year, i have gone round that course in 92 before.

I want to get a few games under my belt before i go to the states, they have some fabulous courses where i am going.

Bizzare day!! I walked to the cemetary in the rain. I was all alone...I heard a car and it pulled up about 40 yards away. Out popped 3 girls...they started to giggle while around a grave. I wandered towrds them and when they saw me (Did I mention I was wearing all black and had my hood over my head/face) anyway, they bolt for thier car  and drive away...I call Banasy (Donna) and tell her about it. As I'm walking and talkjing, I see some trash so I pick  it up and walk to a trash can. I hear a car coming slowly towards me and notice it's the 3 girls again! I told Donna and she suggests I slowly turn towards them and raise my arm, pointing towrds them and then to the area they were in....I did and they sped out of the cemetary SO fast ;D

It will another day for walking to work in the rain.

Spent the weekend enjoying the lovely weather.  We sat in the park on Saturday and had ice-creams.  Yesterday was the Saint George's Day parade for the District Scouts.  Elizabeth was an escort for her Beaver Colony flag, my niece was carrying the flag for her Scout Troop and my nephew carried the flag for his Explorer Scout unit.  This was a new flag and so it was blessed by the minister during the service.  My mum took a photograph of the three of them looking very smart in their uniforms.

Now today the weather has turned dull.  It doesn't matter though because I'm in work!  We are moving out of one of our buildings this week so it can be totally refurbished.  We had some asbestos removed last year but then they ran out of money to make good all the damage.  Hopefully by the new academic year (October) we will have a beautiful new work place.  And I will then be able to finish of setting up new space in my area which has been 'on loan' to the main department for almost a year now.

It's a grey day, light rain off and on, I find it perfect for putting in plants because the ground is soft after
an all night rain.  Looks like I may not have work today, so I'll do that, then take some plants up to
significants house and put some in for him.  It isn't that I'm some great gardener, anything I put in has
to be foolproof, then I go on to prove them wrong.  ::)

Well, i was going to wash the car today (again) but once again it looks like rain which kind of defeats the object of washing it.

I'll take the dog for a walk in a little while after i find some lunch. I expect i'll play Football this afternoon/evening.

Plus i need to go pick up some Money from a friend.

Planning my cemetary visit with Blaine tomorrow. It's been nearly 4 years but sometimes it feels like yesterday. I'm planning on hanging out there all day and maybe meeting Melissa's parents. She's the girl in the dream I had a month after Blaines funeral, and was holding hands with him. She's buried about 40 feet north of him.

About that concert I mentioned...Now I'm always willing to lend an open ear to styles of music which are unfamiliar to me(such as Jazz) but I do regret that I used this event as my stepping stone into Jazz.

Last night I had the privilege and pain of attending The Final concert of the New York Jazz Fest

For about 2 hours my eardrums were badgered by cheesed up versions of popular Jazz songs. I cringed in horror as one of the group's ruined Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind", When they covered an "Earth, Wind & Fire" song I wanted to run AWAY!!The performances were very by the book and lacked a certain spark that you're supposed to see in Live performances. All except for one group were very well intended H.S. students from different parts of the country. A lot of the songs were pitchy and most of the soloists let their nerves get the best of their vocals. At times they were trying to out sing eachother and not sing TOGETHER. I was most annoyed with this one chick who TWIRLED HER HAIR throughout her group's performance. When I was in my theater group, one of the first things we were taught was stage presence. She and a few others did not seem to have any.
I would have forgiven them if this had been a school recital with free or cheap tickets, but these were $50 and up seats at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall!!!!! This was almost like a cheap lounge act, even the band was a little shabby.
I would have stormed out of the performance if weren't for the last group's song list. I stuck around long enough just hear renditions  of "Desifinado"(great song!), "Georgia on my Mind"(Ditto,duh) and "In a Mellow Tone"(just because the Duke wrote it). I must tell you, they were all absolutely beautiful. I was truly raptured when they sung this song called "I remember you" A Capella. I almost started to love this group until they sung this unknown song by Bobby McFerrin. Within the first fews bars of it, I immediately knew why this song never made it to the radio:

Anyways even though I wasn't too happy with the evening, I was very happy that I got to see a concert at lincoln Center after so many years. I used to be a faithful patron, especially at the opera house. Now I'm dying to see the The New York Philharmonic!

I hate that sh*t.  I get nervy after 9, and frantic after 10, 14 would have me in a full blown anxiety attack

Today I don't have any work, (which is the other end of the spectrum), but I take Jake for his bottom
braces on his teeth, and maybe think about finding a plasterer to finish the living room wall that
significant keeps putting off. >:(

today we have to seriously finish packing......our move is still scheduled for Saturday

No, it was being used for its actual purpose...

Thing was, I lacked a bit of hand/eye co-ordination with the screw-head and the screwdriver slipped...

Luckily, my hand was in the way to prevent a nasty dig in the wall of our sumptious new offices...aren't I kind...?!!

it's just a small move...only about 1/2 hour from where we are currently......this is our first house purchase though....and just like everybody told me....it's been nothing but a headache...I can't wait until we are in there to stay!!!

I know you had that hassle last week but, it seems to me, you have been able to move quite quickly.  At least the impression I have is that you only sorted out the house a few weeks ago.  It took us months to sort out all the details both times we have moved.  I have vowed never again!!

you are right Karen...I have been told by many people that it took FOREVER for the entire deal to be closed......the thing that makes me the most angry is that the broker that we are dealing with tells us different things each day...nothing is ever consistent with her.....now, I did talk to her today and she confirmed that we are indeed closing the house tomorrow afternoon...this is only because after weeks of stringing us along...I had to get somewhat stern with her (which I have a real hard time doing)..and told her that our moving plans had to be postponed from last week and that if we didn't move by this saturday...we wouldn't have the truck or the help to do so at a later date....she actually suggested us signing on Saturday morning....and I said...well unless you are willing to meet at like 6 am....beings that our friends are coming over here early to get started helping us.....well anyways.....it is scheduled for tomorrow...so I hope it all works out....

The last time we moved we should have had the keys on a Friday and we assumed that meant morning.  Anyway we heard nothing so phoned solicitor/agent etc and they said they couldn't get hold of the owner.  Eventually they suggested we went round to the house at 4.00 p.m.  He was still packing  :o

We managed to get the keys of him that evening.  Luckily we had arranged for our furniture to come out of store the following week because it took us all weekend to clean the house.  It was filthy!

In about 4 hours I have a physics exam, so I will be studying for it.

So I shall sign off for now.

I cant sleep and I have to get up early tomorrow and this really stinks!

If you can't sleep... don't! It only makes you more restless and you find you get very little actual sleep. Rather have a short and peaceful sleep than a long, restless one. (buts thats just me)

Today? Well same as yesterday. Nothing exciting... except for the fact its Friday  :)

well...when I wake up tomorrow (friday)....I have to finish packing....then we have our house closing at 4:00 pm....then we are doing the last minute things we need to do...my parents are coming over tomorrow night to help....then Saturday we move....


I will be away until next Wednesday (that's when my cable is being hooked up at the new place...so I will have my computer up and running then).

Busy at work today clearing up after having an air con unit moved and a 3-phase socket installed.  I need to clear up the dust and move all the equipment back into position so that someone else can start their experiments next week.

Usual family stuff this weekend.  My son's friend has a birthday party tomorrow and my daughter is going to a friends party on Sunday.  Not sure what our plans are for Monday (which is a public holiday here).
