Well, at some time in the future if you decide you want to go to college, it is never too late!
LB
I've been in college for six years, and I'm in the process of possibly changing my major.

I second that...I went for a total of 4 years, but kept switching majors so I technically have enough credits for a bachelor's degree, but not enough in 1 subject. Anyhoo, now I'm going back at the ripe old age of 33 to become an RN ;)
Way to go, Cheer! ;)

I know that it can sometimes be hard deciding on what interests you, but be careful because changing majors can be expensive (as you end up staying in school much longer).

She's fine, Howard. Thanks for asking.
She's tired these days because it's the run up to Christmas at the school she works at so she is rushed off her feet, bless her. She does a grand job in and outside the house and am lucky to have her.
. . . And no you can't take her. ;D

That is brilliant, Howard. Be careful of the fun arguing though, Howard. Your lady may be prone to taking you literally (when you are joking) and this could lead to unneccessary miscommunication. ;)

I don't know the results yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( Warren Cann (drummer for Ultravox and esteemed judge of said competition) has not rendered his decision!!! At the very least I would like to know what he thought of my work, and not so much whether I won or not, or who won (though that would be nice to know as well).

Did you have any particular influences in your recording for the competition?
Well, let me explain about it...:) It was an Ultravox Covers Competition, so obviously the influence would be....ULTRAVOX! :) (No, not Ultravox!...Ultravox. Although I could have done an Ultravox! song if I wanted to at the time...) :D I did two songs: For the Best Cover Category - "Lament" (1984), and for the Best Remix Category - "Just For A Moment" (1978). "Lament," I would say, is as close to the original as I could get it. I think I did quite well! Rush contributed some backing vocals, and we both worked on the music. "Just For A Moment," you would probably have to hear the original to truly appreciate my remix. There's not much to the original song, but mine is even more minimalistic and atmospheric. It was described by someone as being David Lynch-like. So it might sound a bit strange, but I love it. :) I was originally going to do it àcapella, but Rush had ideas for music/sounds for it (and by the way, whether it be coincidence or not, he is also a fan of David Lynch). So I did the vocals, he did the music. I cleaned up the arrangement a bit et voilà! I'm very proud of the work we did. I hope it gets some good recognition! :)

Ah yes. Asking about influences in an Ultravox cover competition sounds a bit daft in hindsight. I wish you the best.

Thank you. Now if a certain drummer would hurry up and decide on the winners, I could be at ease! :)

Yes, I was referring to Mr Lynch the film director. The first thing that popped into my mind though, when I first heard the finished product was it was very Clockwork Orange (the film) like. Some of it reminded me of the synth music Kubrick used in the film way back in 1971...

If we are the warmer part of Britain, you folks up north must be freezing! ;D
Yes, Karen is right, down here we expect no snow. However, it is generally considered that the more north you go, the more snow you get - and it get's really bad in Scotland (the place you would like to go to ;)).

Well, it's a good thing we'd only be spending a short time there! :) If we indeed go to the UK when I'd like to go (mid-late January), we'd be flying to England, spending a bit of time with the in-laws, then going up to Scotland for a couple of days or something because there's a meet-up of Ultravox forum members and a gig for the ultimate Ultravox tribute band, Monument!! :) Then we'd head back to England for a couple more weeks or so. I'd really like to go...and it would get us to England sooner as well! Rush has been quite anxious to go back to visit. ;D
I'm sure we'll survive Scotland. If they have even close to the amount of snow we usually get here, it'll be a piece of cake. ;)

If they have even close to the amount of snow we usually get here, it'll be a piece of cake. ;)

SAINTS!! That was it!! Yeah, I think it might have been a franchise thing because that might have happened here, too, come to think of it. I'll have to look out for the Galaxy on the way to Polo Park, if the Galaxy still exists. I think I might know the place you're talking about, but I'm not sure.
The Chocolate Shop is close to where we live, so going there is convenient. It's just really bad. :)

How about -40 or colder with a windchill? :P That's how cold it got a few times last winter. Mind you, that's very unusual. It usually can get as cold as -20 to -30 Celcius. :)

Well, we've been known to have cold snaps lasting at least a week in usually January or February. So, if you avoid those months, you should be fine. :) On the other hand, some winters haven't been that cold at all! So it just depends...you might get lucky! ;)

I'm okay with the format, but I would change one thing. If you'll notice, every one of those alphabetical song titles threads has a heading that starts with "Songs from the....." It makes it a little hard to see which decade we're talking about. If possible, I would like to see the heading/title changed to show the decade first.
For example: 1980's Songs A-Z (Excluding Q, U, V, X, Z)
What do you think? :)

Bob:How does your family celebrate Christmas?
Before 2002, the last time I properly celebrated Christmas was 1986. I now celebrate Christmas by visiting my mother before the big event to give her and the family presents and we do lots of eating and drinking. Christmas comes and we open our presents in the morning and visit my girlfriend's parents where we do more eating and drinking (until we are bursting). Boxing Day is when we visit another member of my girlfriend's household and do the same . . . Crazy but I like it. Being around the family and enjoying ourselves is one of the more appealing aspects of Christmas for me.
Oh and the Christmas smileys are a very nice touch - well done Chucky. :)

this sounds like our council. They've spent oodles of money on a new shopping centre that has 6 units open and one of them is a gym! For some reason they thought that it would need a roof over the walkway between the shops so you get wet when it rains.
Also recently heard of someone who has been trying to get into one of the vacant units for over a year but never gets his calls returned, yet the developers are bleating in the local paper that they can't find anyone to occupy the vacant units!
