To Howard: On some of your posts you've mentioned that you're really into early 1970's soul. (Me too!)  :) I was just wondering--do you have the Rhino 6 CD box set called "Can You Dig It? The 70's Soul Experience?" If not, I very highly recommend it. It is AWESOME!

No unfortunately,I don't. :( But,I do have good amount of funk, soul and disco in my collection. :)

It's from a song called "New Europeans" by Ultravox, from their Vienna album. Excellent track and excellent album!! ;D

I have quite an eclectic taste, Lebeiw but I am partial to 80s music (specifically new wave, rock, chart, funk and late disco). I love 70s music (specifically rock, disco and chart). I love 60s music (chart and I don't mind the Beatles) and 50s as well (chart and doo-wop). I like a bit of country and I have been known to listen to dance music as well. I am also well schooled in 'cheesy' music (an influence from my father) - I can't help it, I love what I love.  ;D

I must say that for a youngster, you show a great music background knowledge - be proud of that. To know what is available to you and chose for yourself what you like to listen to is freedom from the masses.  :)

Don't worry, AV. Sometimes I seem to kill it off, so to speak. I started this thread (although someone else did on the old board), and sometimes I bring it back to life when no one seems to want to respond to it. I brought it back last month when I noticed that Lanie had erased her old account; since then I've wanted to ask her why she erased it; I'm kinda curious about that. ;)

No, it is from a John Lennon Poem.  I pasted it on a different board but it's short so here
it is(I am actually me, not Danoota, but I answer to it anyway)

Deaf Ted, Danoota, (and me)

Thorg hilly grove and burly ive,
Big daleys grass and tree
We clobber ever gallup
Deaf Ted, Danoota, and me.

Never shall we partly stray,
Fast stirrup all we three
Fight the battle mighty sword
Deaf Ted, Danoota, and me.

With faithful frog beside us,
Big mighty club are we
The battle scab and frisky dyke
Deaf Ted, Danoota, and me.

We fith the baddy baddies,
For colour, race and cree
For Negro, Jew and Bernie
Deaf Ted, Danoota, and me.

Thorg Billy grown and Burnley ten,
And Aston Villa three
We clobber ever gallup
Deaf Ted, Danoota, and me.

So if you hear a wonderous sight,
Am blutter or at sea,
Rememer whom they mighty say
Deaf Ted, Danoota, and me -

(sometimes we bring our friend, Malcom.)

It's a bit uncertain at the moment. The two older ones have got annoyed with the youngest. This one's for Vile...

When DM was in Seattle during the Devotional tour, my husband got to meet Martin. Trent gave him a mix tape he had in his car and I guess his pager number was on it. The next day, he got a "page" and Martin wanted to hang out with him again. So, they hooked up and Trent took him bowling in Kenmore (so he wouldn't be recognized/bothered). Apparantly, Martin's drink of choice (at least back then) was Rumpleminz...one of my favs as well. I was SO pissed that I wasn't in on that one. We were "just friends" back then (I was engaged to another guy at the time). I was at the concert, then went straight home. I'm STILL kicking myself for that. On a side note, I guess Trent apologized to Martin when giving him the tape because he remembered mixing from a DM song right into an Erasure song! Martin smiled and said it was okay... :)

Oh wow!!!!! That is so cool!!!! You should have been in on that one! I would never pass up an opportunity to meet Martin! :D I still can't believe that your soon-to-be-hubby took him bowling of all things! I just couldn't see Martin doing that, but it sounds like he enjoyed himself. It's nice, too, that Martin took the time to page him and wanted to hang out. I'm afraid I have never been to America, Howard. I would love to go there one day.

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that I was talking to someone on the phone and, halfway through the conversation, he mentioned that his name was Howard. Then it clicked that I was speaking to you. Dreams are funny, aren't they?

I have no idea what we were supposed to be talking about though.  :-\\

Ahem, I hope so, otherwise the teachers would get mad at me. ;D

Seriously though..

What most us Brits call college happens beyond the age of 16, Howard. What I have done so far which amounts to that is two years at a Shrewsbury college, studying for AS-levels (which generally happen in the first year) and A-levels (which happen in the second year). After two years there, I recently (in September) started at another college, 50 miles away, four days per week, doing an HND (Higher National Diploma; some kind of classy certificate) in Music Production.

Which, if nothing else, is a good challenge for stamina!

Is that what you wanted to know, Howard? Hope that's okay!
