There is a mouthwash commercial where the grandfather is in front of the mirror with his grandson and lets out a yell about how bad the mouthwash was or whatever they want you to buy but...the grandfather has this terrible wiskey voice to begin with, I'd rather him tell the kid about his hard life of smokin' and boozin'...The guy is totally wrong for that kind of commercial!!!!
(Musta been a relative to the owner/producer to have him in it) >:(

The BP ads with that lady whining about "It's like asking me to give up chocolate...I love my car! or some annoying crapola.
The toe fungus ads with the anthropomorphosed animated fungal monsters.
Of course, the Vehix.com ads are still driving me effingnuts! OK, you're successful, you can afford to buy advertising alloverthefuggingplace...ever heard of overkill?
What's that "Urine-Gone"? What genius Madison Avenue agent came up with that one? I've had incontinent pets. No more. I don't want to think about pet pee!
You know that "get yourself published" ad with the 1-800 number? It's done in really bad video. The guy's got a pair of glasses from hell. I mean, I thought I was watching Eugene Levy an SCTV! The whole operation just screams "DUD"!
bosley.com hair restoration. Watch it with the sound muted. It looks like a spoof on baldness cure ads!
The baby-boomers are aging, so we're going to be stuck with those scooter ads for a long, long time!
ronco.com. All the food looks really gross. Don't these people know how to direct?

It's right up there with the Pontiac AZTEK, Honda Element and the Toyota SCION as far as ugliness goes!
I agree with you on the Element and Aztek being ugly. The Scion TC(the small car) looks ok but its not my style. The Scion XA and AB look hideous though.

Those commercials for Mini Cooper Accesories. The first one I saw was for a horn that sounds like a $3 squeeze bulb horn you put on a 5 year olds bicycle. I seriously thought this was a "fake" (or joke) commercial given how freaking stupid it was and how overpriced the horn was.
Oh, almost forgot, I can't stand any "ringtone" commercials. D-U-M-B.

Saw this RIDICULOUS Pizza Hut commercial 5 for $5.00 with a parrot encouraging them to buy the special then at the end the 'voice' of the parrot changes to like a surfer voice and says 'He Started it!' The idea was okay to start with but the change from a parrot voice to just a guys voice saying the line is AWFUL!!!

and then they have bad taste to say it gave him "something to smile about!"

What's the commercial with the two guys sitting in the car, and one of them says something really dumb, and they other guy smacks him. One of the lines was:

I've seen commercials with that guy too. Lots of ads make me so sick I rarely want to watch commercials anymore. Often times when I'm at home watching "Price Is Right", like I was today, I often switch to "The View" during the commercial breaks; seeing five women chat at a table is certainly more interesting than most TV ads I've seen. Another series of ads I find an eyesore are the Honey Bunches Of Oats ads...that spokeslady kinda looks like Steve Urkel; anyone notice that?? ::)

We must call the WRIGLEY CO. to stop this one before it is played too much:
Juicy Fruit gum has a new commercial that shows a young guy reaching for a pack of gum and a black woman also reaching for the same(last) pack.
It continues to show him walking down the street without him or her letting go(fine), then another doing chores(fine), THEN they show him in the FRONT SEAT of a car with her in the BACK still never letting go of the gum!!!!! Do you know the illogic of this?
OK, how did HE get into the front seat of a car and her in a BACK seat without letting go...??
Now if she SWITCHED HANDS and I missed it, I stand corrected, and it went by me..If it is illogical...CAN THE COMMERCIAL?

He did use tricks to make millions, one of the oldest ones, but don't ask the government about it, ask PT Barnum!
I hate the Yogurt ad (is it Dannon or Yoplait?) in which the girl in the tube top enters the elevator. When the doors shut, she exhales and you see her stomach protrude.
Look, most grown women do not have flat stomachs, and they're not supposed to! That's not how they're designed. It doesn't mean you are F-A-T because you don't have a flat stomach. I think ads like that help women feel neurotic about their bodies. Pretty low to stoop just to sell a lousy scoop of yogurt!

There is one soda commercial that should be taken off the air that involves the Angels' Vladamir Guerrero and the Yanees' Alex Rodriguez and some other player. Anyway, each player tosses a ball into the air, one by one, he hits it and it shatters something giving off light. Vlad's ball shatters a street lamp, and Arod's ball cracks a life-size replica of the moon. I bet any young kid viewing that ad would be frightened to death. I'm sorry, but the FCC should ban violence in commercials.
Ellipsis: I am totally with you on that. And unfortunately I have seen the commercial that you are referring to. In addition, kids are not the only ones who cringe at violent ads; people of all ages might.
And I've seen a lot of dumb Geico ads lately. ::)

Does anyone else get annoyed by the same announcer doing the BURGER KING COMMERCIAL and then the one for HONDA? Also heard on the AM-PM Mini Mart commercials too.
The voice is cool and jazzy, but I don't think anyone really talks like that, so it doesn't sell the product to me, just sounds creepy...
So maybe I can't stand commercials with that cool creepy jazz guy announcing.... ???

For the past 3 months, commercials have now turned around and have aimed to make you cry until your eyes dry out. I like the message, but I don't want it to come to the point where I need a boat to navigate my living room. Especially that grandma who's sitting in the kitchen waiting and waiting for her grandchild to come. He never comes. The announcer says something like "Just tell your grandmother you couldn't have dinner with her because you were stoned. She'll understand". And the heart disease commercials. Whoa! I like the message, but don't be extreme.
As for other ones, my least favorite ones would be McDonald's. I was "lovin' it" back then, but "hating it" today.
Another one is one they haven't shown lately. That Mountain Dew commercial with that guy who can make his car look different with his remote locker. Then he decides to turn his friend into a woman.

I dislike the commercials for Allstate car insurance where they put the viewer in the car during an automobile accident (actually several different accidents.) I flinch everytime when the car is coming at me and smacks into me. Blah! If I wanted to get a bird's eye view of a car smashing into me, I'd enter my car into the demolition derby at the county fair. ;D
I don't think I've seen that one...but I don't think I want to now. Sounds pretty disgusting.

The tampon commercial where the guy and the girl are in a boat which springs a leak and while the guy is rummaging for something to fix it, the girl pulls out a tampon and shoves it in the hole fixing the leak. The guy acts all impressed. In real life that would have been the end of the romantic boat ride, things would have gotten all awkward when the guy realized he just wasted his money on a romantic boat ride with a girl who has her period. ;D

That's as far as I get in that commercial....I don't even remember what the scam 800# company is called. I just hate the ham-handed way they try to make it sound like the DJ just came back from commercial break! "More music"? This is "talk radio." The jerks. What I remember from the times I listened through the add was "...if your last name begins with A-M call right now, If you're last name begins with M-Z, make a note of the number and call tomorrow!" But then tomorrow, the announcement says the same thing. But my last name begins with "S," so when do I ever get to call for the free house that the government is giving away because some poor schnook couldn't pay his mortgage? Lionel, the talk show host, for Denny's. "Lionel" the wisecracking, smart-mouth lawyer who has a syndicated in various markets. He's quite witty and mordant in his style His talk radio program is sponsored in part by Denny's, so he does a bit for them, "Hey, Lionel here for Denny's..." and he goes on to extol the qualities of the Grand Slam.
http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/08/puke.gif
You figure most of these guys aren't crazy about the product they gotta pedal, but you know if Lionel wasn't getting sponsored by Denny's, he'd go on a ten-minute tear on how totally nasty the place is. He'd describe the food in the most nauseating terms possible, he'd rank on the crummy service, he'd have a go at the weirdos you see in Denny's at 3:00 a.m.
Maybe Denny's was so afraid Lionel was going to rip into them one night, they figured they'd better buy him off!
It's that feeling you get when somebody's talking and you know he doesn't mean a word of what he's saying. It's like when Big Mike the playground bully gave you a bloody nose, and Mrs. Grundy hauled him over and made him apologise to you in person, "I'm sorry I punched you in the nose, it really wasn't a nice thing to do, and I'll never do it again..."

I disagree with ya PC repair, Dude.
I've worked with all versions of Windows since 1992, (OS/2 and Apples before that, as far as non mainframe computers go), and I've also done tech support, but Mac users -- in my opinion -- have a better understanding of their computers than most -- not all mind you -- Windows users.
People who buy Macs tend to do it simply because they just don't like MS, which is basically why they use Unix or Linux at work too. All the Mac users I've come across are the type of people who don't mind working with something that's different and aren't afraid to learn something new.
When I did tech support a year ago I thought it would be the Mac users that would cause me the most problems since I never touched a Mac before that, but I soon found out it was the dreaded call from Windows 98 users that made me cringe -- and I have two PCs at home, one's an XP and the other is a Win98 !
The order of computer awareness by people of their home or work computers, based on my own person experience, are (by the OS they use):
1. Linux (the best)
2. Macintosh (the later the OS version the better)
3. XP (SP2 only! The real dumbasses are still on SP1, and are too stupid to know how to upgrade or why they should be on SP2)
4. Windows Me (Why Me? Because these people always seemed to know they were screwed. They learned about their PCs simply by dealing with Me's constant problems)
5. Windows 2000
6. XP SP1
7. Windows 98
8. Windows 95/Windows 3.1 (believe it or not there are still some of these out there)
:)

Well, I do have a Windows 95 Packard Bell. But I just use that to play my old games. I mainly use XP SP2.

"It is no wonder that most Mac people really do not know anything about computers..."
I disagree with ya PC repair, Dude.
Well, let me start by saying that my first corporate job working with computers was as a Mac Tech. That's right, I started with Hughes Aerospace in 1995 as a Macintosh technician, because they decided to make the company 50% Mac, and 50% PC. By the end of 1996, they had returned all of the Macs to Apple, and were 100% PC. The 7200 was such a miserible piece of junk, that even I stopped advertising the fact that I was Mac certified in my resume.
YOu have to remember, I had worked years ago selling APple IIs, and did work on the Lisa. My mom bought a first generations Mac, and that was all I worked with until I got my first exposure to the PC in 1988 (4 years later). But by the last 1990's, Mac had become horrible.
People complain about the "Microsoft Monopoly". Well tell me, what computer does Microsoft sell? None, because other then Mice and Keyboards, they stay out of hardware. Even the Routers and Wi-Fi components they sell are simply rebranded USR items.
On the other hand, Apple sells the computer, the operating system, and has 100% controll of any hardware and software added onto the system. And if you had OS9, you better shell out $140 for OS X. Oh, and if you want a newer version of OS X (I think they are on the 2nd or 3rd version), that is an extra $140+. In the same time frame, MS sent from XP, to XP SP1, to XP SP2. And the cost to upgrade from one to the other is... nothing. If they followed Apple's business pattern, XP SP2 would have cost an additional $95.
The idea that Apple does not get virus? That is as insane as saying they never get hacked, they never crash, and that it is the tooth fairy that puts the money under your pillow. My favorite little blurb in the last 3 months was when PC Magazine compared a Mac running OS X against a Mac running XP. They were surprised to find that the Mac actually ran faster with Windows! And that is the result from anybody who did a side-by-side comparison on the same hardware.
"Based upon the tests and the results, it appears that the Windows XP operating system is actually a better performer when it comes to running the applications compared to the Mac OS X operating system. This performance gap can be as much as 34% faster in two similar applications."

Man, I agree with you 100%.
Well, I have a deep background in Mac. In fact, as recently as 2003, 35% of my work was on the Mac. I worked in LA for a small on-site service company, and I was the only Mac technician they had. I tried to teach the owner and the other 2 techs how the Mac worked, how to work with Extensions and the like, and they had no interest. For somebody who was not used to the "Left-handed thinking" that came along with working on the Mac, it was a foreign language.
In fact, I found it ironic that somebody who started in Mac could quickly pick up Windows. But if somebody started with Windows, Mac was almost incomprehensible. And the fact that the Mac runs Windows programs is nothing new. The PowerPC could do that back in 1994. The next chance you get to look at a Windows NT disk, check the directories. You will find "X86" (PC), "Alpha" (Sun and other workstations with ALpha CPUs), and PowerPC (Macintosh). However, after less then a year, Apple changed the firmware, making the PowerPC incapable of running NT, and causing the end of their partnership with IBM and Intel (after each company gave them millions of dollars in development grants).
And Windows software running on a Mac? Microsoft could not care less, they are a software company. They loose nothing at all in any way. But try to make a card/program that runs Mac OS on anything other then an Apple computer, and prepare to have your butt sued off. It has been done several times in the past, and always the same result: Apple attack dog lawyers sueing the company into bankruptcy.
I remember the old days of the Commodore-Atari-IBM-Apple fights, the only difference is that we are now down to only 2 companies. But I refuse to support or sponsor a company that works in a true monopoly. This is why I do not support Blu-Ray, and did not support the MiniDisk or the UMD disk.

On a similar note...Mac computers were the only things I used from 1991 through mid-1998 (except for a stint in early '93 when I took a winter intercession class with Apple IIc computers...but Apple also makes the Macs!). I never got acquainted with the Windows family of operating systems until the summer of '98, right after I graduated from high school. Didn't take long. Wait...in June of '94 I may have used a machine with a very primitive version of Windows at somebody's house. Other than that, it was Macintosh all the way.

Oh, here's one...
International Star Registry
Name a star for the one you love. How romantic.
Here you are, honey. Nothing. Not anything at all.
What are people thinking? No matter where in the world you are, under ideal conditions you can see perhaps a couple of thousand stars with the naked eye. You can see a few thousand more with binoculars. With amateur telescopics and some good charts, you may be able to distinguish fifteen thousand stars. They ran out of those years ago!
Now, how many people have had a star "registered" in their loved ones name?
"Where's my star, hon?
"Oh, it's up there somewhere."
Suppose Lisa really wants to see her star? She has to go to a professional astronomy station with high-powered telescopes it take a university degree to operate. She has to get the folks at the station to help her out. Dr. So-and-So takes her information and shows her a barely discernable pinpoint smudge on the computer screen.
"That's my star! The Star Lisa?"
"Erm, no, we are tentatively calling that one Beta-Gamma-XK-711134-GH. We estimate it has been extinguished for 4.5 billion years."
"But it exists! My hubby bought it for me from International Star Registry. It's name is Lisa! Star Lisa! I have it right here on the certificate."
"Very well, dear, but I'm afraid we astronomers must still call it Beta-Gamma-XK-711134-GH. You see, there are so many millions of celestial bodies that when we name them, we must..."
"No, no, Lisa, it's Star Lisa! Your lying to me, doctor!"
"Oh dear..."
;D
A scientist on NPR was said the state of New York tried to bring suit against ISR (If I remember it right) because it is illegal to sell something you don't own.
The court saw it more like a person buying a piece of paper and a company naming or renaming something nobody owns. You can call anything anything you want, so long as you don't infringe on copyright laws or official government designations.
As the scientist commenting on on NPR put it, I could name the city of Albany after me. I could call the city of Albany "Steve" if I wanted to. Nobody else would, but I could if I liked. That's what ISR does with stars.

At least a "pet rock" is something to have and to hold!
My point about these stars is that not only is the naming a fraud, but the star may not be a physical entity. A lot of stars are so many millions of lightyears away the light is just reaching powerful telescopes now, but the star itself went out of business when planet Earth was still a lifeless rock!
So you're giving me the invisible light from a dead star. Is this more akin to Carl Sagan or to Jean-Paul Sartre?
