Mental health PROFESSIONALS who claim that chatting on the Internet is 'isolating'.....I suspect that they say that because they cannot 'do their thing' aka MODIFY their client's chatting 'behavior' by saying things like 'That's an inappropriate thought' 'or 'you KNOW that's not true' when someone like me talks about how I'm feeling...I suggest they STOP trying to run EVERY ASPECT of clients' lives......We also have First Amendment rights, and we don't ALL 'waste our lives away aimlessly chatting' on the Net...I look up INFORMATION on my illness via a PROFESSIONALLY-RUN site(WebMD).....and I am compliant with meds. We all don't 'look at porn' either...all porn stuff is thrown away as SPAM on my PC!!!

South-Central. It's pretty mountainous, I guess. We're like right in the middle of the Appallachiens (however you spell that mountain range).
That's cool. Here in western Oregon you have the farmbelt that is the Willamette Valley and on 3 sides of it are dense, wet conifer forests. There are big mountains about 70 mi away and the coast is 50 mi to the west (a pretty but cold coast. Not your tropical paradise! :D )

What really annoys me are people who harp on you because of your weight. No, I still weigh the same as the last time you saw me >:(
My staff put pressure on me to lose weight....their attitude is "WE want you to be the best you can be"...where is WHAT I WANT TO BE in this equation? I wonder what they would say if I said that to them? I bet it would start some fireworks! D***it,I am 45 years old....and happy with who and what I am. I don't give a crap what society thinks of me. If they cannot accept me as I am,warts and all.....TOUGH! I am an ADULT,not some person who's naive about society!

What gets really annoying is when people around me,like my mental-health staff,call me a 'role model' because I am intelligent....how the h*ll does knowledge,and the ability to use a computer,get around on my own by taking public transit,and just HAPPENING to have been 'mainstreamed' into a public high school where I was not even a 'b' student,translate into being a 'role model'? "keep your place clean you're a role model","act as if,you're a role model"....Hey,I am far from perfect....maybe I am too much of a perfectionist...

Oh, it's not so bad if it only happens occasionally and you want to bum a smoke from a friend or something...but if it happens all the time, no matter who it is, it gets annoying. What's more annoying, though, is when complete strangers come up and ask you for one. ::)

I knew a few guys like this when I was in the Army. Normally I'm a generous person, and if someone asks me if they can bum a smoke I'm usually happy to oblige. (I might bum one myself once in a great while.) But these guys I knew in the Army were constantly trying to bum smokes off of me, and they were also trying to borrow money as well, and for some reason these guys seemed to always have terrible personal hygiene. (Seriously...some of these guys would go several days or even weeks without showering. Ewwww!) These traits were so common among these cigarette mooches that they were uncanny, to the point that I seriously began to wonder if they all came from the same ancestors. Some nasty, unpleasant white trash tribe from the British Isles (these guys all had English-sounding last names) that never freakin' bathed.

They may well be part of one big interbred family...actually sounds to me that you came into contact with the GB Army's 5th Scabby-Arsed Tramp Platoon, normally only used in counter-insurgency in invaded Muslim countries- this platoon smells so badly of alcohol & BO, that they can normally flush whole villages out, just by deploying several soldiers downwind of said village... ;D

Trust me, you don't want to be around these people. One time our platoon had this job on another base and we had to stay in this big tin shed. It was in June or July, (average temp. 85 F), the shed had no a/c (and neither did our trucks, which we had to drive around in all day in the hot sun), and we had to stay there for a whole week. The only place to shower was a locker room in the gym, and for some reason German hot water heaters were usually no larger than a laundry hamper, so I could pretty much count on getting an ice-cold shower. But I'd be so funky at the end of the day I didn't care.
  Howerver, there was this one guy in my platoon (who, not surprisingly was also a notorious cigarette mooch, and in hindsight, possibly an infiltrator from the 5th Scabby-Arsed Tramps) who didn't shower ALL FREAKIN' WEEK. Fortunately for me, I was clear at the other end of the building, so his stench didn't reach me, but the people bunking around him got so fed up by the end of the week that they gave him an ultimatum: Either take a shower or sleep outside the building.
   He chose to sleep outside. :P :o ???

Sounds like the same problem we have near me,in Atlantic City(yep the East Coast gambling town).....They try to bum some change by using the line " I just wanna get a cup of coffee"....when they have enough money,they head to the liquor store for their cheap wine fix!

Don't seem to know what soap,water,and a bathtub is....
Ask the bus driver "do you go to such-and-such town"...when they have no problems with their sight,and the destinations are right on the bus marquee(destination sign)..or on the timetable IF THEY WOULD BOTHER TO READ IT...
Continue to drive around,looking for a certain place,getting lost,and NOT stopping in a service station or other public place to ASK FOR DIRECTIONS(usually MEN are guilty of this!)
Spit or even worse vomit on the sidewalk...are they unable to use a trash can!?!

Well Howard if you refer to him as a "stupid idiot" then he's not really a friend. He can't make YOU feel guilty. Guilt is something that you have control over. You've got to learn not to react to him. It's his problem - not YOURS. :)
Well jaytee,he used to be a friend back in 94 then after that he wound up with a mental illness(bipolar disorder).I kept shut after that but a couple of years ago,he got on my nerves and I constantly bit my tongue whenever I was around him.But anyway JT,thanks. :)

Sorry...I'm just sensitive about those things...it STILL is something that bothers me,what happened to me. I was sexually VIOLATED in the most VIOLENT of ways......Yes I am getting therapy BUT I still have the nightmares about what happened.....and it was when I was thirteen years old....the time when most teens start really forming their ideas about SEX and SEXUALITY....I was never taught about RAPE because "she's mentally ill and we don't want to give her any ideas or frighten her"RAPE CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE IT'S BEST TO TEACH EVERYONE ABOUT WHAT RAPE IS,HOW TO PROTECT THEMSELVES,AND WHAT TO DO IF THEY ARE RAPED. No one 'deserves' such an act done to them!

How mental health professionals don't seem to take physical pain seriously....they also start worrying that if someone who is under treatment for a psychiatric condition is prescribed something even a smidge stronger than Motrin or Tylenol,OH NO THEY WILL BECOME ADDICTED the pain is because they WANT ATTENTION they CANNOT HANDLE LIFE they are TRYING TO COP OUT....as part of their schooling they should BE REQUIRED TO SPEND AT LEAST ONE YEAR AT THE CLINIC OF AN MD TRAINED IN PAIN MANAGEMENT...learning about things like sciatica(which is not 'all in one's head'it's a PINCHING OF A NERVE in the lower back!) ,fibromyalgia,cancer pain,arthritis........oh yeah,amongst the patients in their waiting room,in PHYSICALLY DIAGNOSED pain,would possibly be people who are also mental health consumers.....they are TAKEN SERIOUSLY,and GIVEN NEEDED RELIEF,just like the 'sane' people are.
BTW I have just been diagnosed with sciatica and now am on a pain med that actually works.

In the medications dept. I'd say the meth users annoy me. In some places they make you sign for formerly over-the-counter cold remedies. Hasn't happened here yet, but it's just one more level of trust taken from all of us.

I could NEVER be like that....because of my challenges,I take nothing in life for granted...
and I never let my differently-abledness stop me from living life to the fullest...even when I have to do things I don't like,because there are some people who really CANNOT do for themselves,but wish that they could!
Going to an adult medical/social day care was something I did not want at first....but now I look forward to it..it's not all health stuff,it's FUN stuff,and a place where I can be MYSELF,around other people like me, without society's IGNORANCE and INTOLERANCE intruding.....
and I still have my INDEPENDENCE....I do my own shopping,I use public transit to go EVERYWHERE...my doctor....my mental health providers....day trips to Philly and Washington DC...and to Atlantic City's yearly airshow,where the planes actually fly over the beaches and the ocean...

How my mental-health staff want to make my LOSING WEIGHT a priority for getting a job....especially when the job I'd like is something that I have seen heavyset people do..deejaying for parties..'oh yeah we're afraid you'll fail....someone might be nasty to you..' I have to wonder if they worry not only for me but ABOUT THEIR PROGRAM'S IMAGE IN THE TAXPAYERS' EYES...Coz I certainly know to BEHAVE NORMALLY in public..and I certainly don't have "Client of Atlanticare Pact Team A and CSP Housing" tattooed on my forehead!! I understand their concerns for my health,but they are not the people who are living my life...I am. If I make a mistake I own up to it,it's not THEIR mistake it's MINE. People who stick there noses where they don't belong trying to 'change' you. Plastic manufactured pop stars who get a ton of respect just for being famous, and having no discernable talent. While 'true' music talent goes largely unoticed (largely because they wan't it that way). And basically everyone and everything else, especially myself.
Girls who think they are too good for any guy who isn't a model with a six-pack and a big youknowwhat, ignorant people, people who don't think for themselves (about anything), left-wing extremists, right-wing extremists, racists, people who don't see others' point of view.etc.etc., people who care too much, people who care too little, over-emotional whiney people. I'm borrowing my friend's laptop today because my computer has been in the shop since Tuesday.
Anyway, he's got this pokey laptop (pokey, literally and figuratively), and the touch screen tracking device is like shoveling smoke. The keyboard also has one of those half-sized right shift keys so you keep hitting "/" or the up arrow. More often you nudge the stupid touch screen and send your cursor flying across the screen!
Oh well, I should be grateful I have access to a computer at all today!

One time I posted on a message board devoted to Shakira...and I happened to disagree with a guy about whether she had talent or not(I said I thought Shakira is cool)and the guy happened to disagree with me and told me his views in an absolutely nasty(and hugely sexist)manner...and then told me to 'go to h*ll'! I also noticed most of the anti-Shakira posts were by guys with Latino names....What is it that Latino guys have against some women,and Shakira in particular? Buying a new CD and the jewel case is cracked, the worse is when the little buttons to hold your CD in place are broken and each time you open it you must be carefull not to drop your CD, for the cost of a CD the jewel case should be stronger, more like a DVD case

Certain asinine sports announcers......John Madden and Darrell Waltrip are HUGE offenders of the genre...
DW bashes drivers he considers 'dirty' and 'too aggressive'...while he did the same things as an active NASCAR driver! aka THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK :-X......and Madden is just plain DUMB :P...
Darrell Waltrip is a very colourfull announcer, it's part of the job for ol' Jaws to run his mouth, I've been a DW fan since 1980, I do think he stayed behind the wheel too long, his career was basically over once he had "the big one" Had he put a young driver in his #17 car he might still be a car owner today but it's nice that he remains in the spotlight, most people understand his special brand of humour eventhough they didn't during his driving days. What I think would be a great way to test a drivers skill is to have them all drive the exact same cards but this will never happen, it's very easy to see today that the teams with the big money are going to be the winners year in and year out. The days of an independent driver like Alan Kulwicki are gone. I like good humoured arguing between the fans of different drivers, it's part of the fun but I talk to some fans and you would swear they have a personal hatred for the drivers they dislike. The most common reason I see for a driver being hated is because that driver is a really good driver. I noticed Gordon hating went away for awhile after Evernham left the team, why? because he wasn't winning as much.

Buying a new CD and the jewel case is cracked, the worse is when the little buttons to hold your CD in place are broken and each time you open it you must be carefull not to drop your CD, for the cost of a CD the jewel case should be stronger, more like a DVD case
When you buy a new CD, shake it, if you hear the CD moving around inside it's a good bet the buttons (I'm not sure what to call it) that hold it in place a broken

After flying this weekend, people who push their way on/off an airplane. I had some lady literally push me so she could get on the plane ahead of me. Guess what lady???? If you've got a boarding pass on a not full flight, you're gonna get a seat. THEN, she's on the aisle and has so much crap in her lap that it takes her 2-3 minutes to let the other 2 people sitting on the inside in....Although, I DID see her get whacked in the head by someone's bag as they were walking by because she was leaning into the aisle ;D. And, can someone explain to me why they load the plane from front to back now? It would seem to me to be MUCH quicker to let the ones in the back on first so they didn't have to push past the idiots in the front who are taking FOREVER to get situated.
I've flown recently, and I've noticed a lot of RUDENESS among passengers....I was struggling to get a small backpack into the overhead storage bin....and everyone just stood there and stared even when I asked for help...

Uh, Howard lives in NYC. Unless you're a rich mofo, having a car in New York is more annoying than any tribulations with mass transit. Bureaucratic parking restrictions, usurious garaging fees, sky-high insurance, theft, and vandalism, and gridlocked city traffic are all a terrible burden.
Speaking of mass transit, it always bugs me when I go to Boston if I have to stand in line for subway tokens because they're too cheap to staff more than one cashier's booth in a given station. It also annoys me to wait on the platform for fifteen minutes at rush hour because the MBTA can't get their central dispatching together. It drives me nuts when they send around two-car trolleys on the Green Line when there's a game at Fenway Park. Station attendents practically have to jam people in with sticks, like they do in Tokyo. It also bugs me when miscreants use the corners and stairwells of T stations as urinals. I hate standing on a platform where it smells like some drunk just tossed his cookies. Let's see, I hate the fare increases as a favored form of regressive taxation by Republican governors and their corrupt democratic party machine lackeys.
Finally, the most annoying thing of all in Boston transpration, fifteen years and running, two words: Big Dig!

I agree with you that it would make more sense to load the plane from back to front. But they don't because it would MAKE SENSE!!! As Carlos says about flying, they treat you like cattle, pack you in like sardines and feed you like dogs. That is part of the reason why I HATE FLYING!!!

I have no need for a car either.....but I am keeping an open mind about it....New Jersey Transit has expanded their bus routes in this area,BIG TIME,from twenty years ago,because of Atlantic City getting casinos...many employees and local people use the bus or train rather than driving....because traffic here can be a nightmare especially in the summer when the 'shoobies'(our slang for tourists) come down in droves...

Lately, it's been my best friend. She's dating a guy who just got divorced in October (they were dating prior to his divorce being finalized) and all I hear anymore is her bitching about him...first it was that he didn't want to get married in the next year (Jesus, he's not even been divorced a year, who in their right mind would want to marry (or be married) that soon???) NOW, it's that he didn't get her a "gift" (he gave her $$) for Mother's Day. Now, I may be wrong, but it never occurred to me that it's a boyfriend's "job" to get his girlfriend a MD gift if she's not the mother of his children.....I asked hubby and HE never got his girlfriends with kids presents on MD, he says it's the kids' father's responsibility.
My husband has NEVER gotten me a Mother's Day gift and I wouldn't expect him to, either. But, I must say, that it was nice to get a Mother's Day card from my step-daughter. That meant the world to me.
Anyway, you should ask her, if she is constantly bitching about this guy, why is she still with him?

This annoys me:
My neighbours downstairs have just moved in, they did not pop up to tell us they would be making an awful lot of noise whilst moving in, neither did they add that they would be sanding the floor and doing all sorts of DIY. Now I would not have any problem with this but the fact is that they did not come up to apologise first, which would have been the courteous thing to do. (It's what I would have done). They also continue to annoy me by (and I know this for a fact) staying in all day watching TV then 10 mins after I get in from work in the evenings they start banging hammers and drilling and god knows what else. They keep going all evening.Then on Saturday mornings when I like to sleep in, they hack down bushes with a chainsaw at like 7am.
Why was I not told about this???
Anyway, thats what gets on my nerves right now. I think it's just inconsiderate, considering we also have an elderly neighbour who is recovering from lung cancer and needs to rest. Though they would know that if they had bothered to check first.
Argh.

Mentally ill homeless people who are too sick to see that they need help,need meds,and could have a better life if they had their illness stabilized and a roof over their head.I don't hate the person,I hate the fact that they are suffering and are so afraid to trust the meds and the therapeutic process...it makes me really sad when I see I am fortunate enough to have what I need....and they don't....I try to tell them 'get help' but they say 'no I'll lose my freedom'...not true once one is stable and clear-headed.

I can honestly say that Bill Crosby has never made me laugh, especially when he did the US version of the UK hit sit-com One Foot In The Grave.

His schtick was funny in the '60s and '70s, but in the '80s he got all preachy and yuppie with the Cosby Show, and he's been annoying as all sh*t ever since! Now he just sounds like one of those poker-up-the-azz ministers who says all the right things to alleviate whitey's guilt!

Completely agreed. They really are beginning to annoy me now. There are two more to add to the list 'jiminy' a thread about Jiminy being annointed the king of -wait for it- blah (surprise), and 'Im a nestor le penguoin' all about how this pointless-thread poster became graduated to the next level of penguinhood (yep, not like it happens to everybody when they reach 500 threads - he's special). I'm beginning to take a very dim view of these threads, but what annoys me more is the fact that people are actually posting in them. Why? All they are doing is encouraging it. Okay, i've posted one comment in each, but there are members posting a handful of comments and they are making it worse. I think from now on if a certain number of members finds a certain thread useless and therefore a waste of perfectly good board space, then they can PM a website editor about it and get it removed, because I know it isn't just me who's getting annoyed by it

In their defense, though, sometimes if you're on dial-up, searching can take a LONG time.  I know even on broadband, some searches take forever....I agree, though, if it's a thread that's on page 2 or 3 ;)
I'm annoyed at people who don't parent their children.  I went on an overnight camping trip with my 2 oldest this weekend and was kept awake by traffic, trains, landfill methane gas, etc. until 5:30, when pure exhaustion took over my body and I finally fell asleep.  THEN at 5:45 (no, that's not a typo) these parents decide it's time to pack up and are letting their kids run WILD, screaming "NOT IT", running around (and into) tents, and the little brats actually UNZIPPED my tent, to which I promptly replied "WHAT THE HE|| DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?"  The parents are lucky I never found them >:(
I hate parents who go on like their kids are little angels, when they're actually little.... terrors ::)
It grates on me even more though, when you try to explain to the parent that their kid has done something wrong and needs punishing, and they come up with the line 'I know he's not an angel...'. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I know he's not an angel, he's an absolute juvenile. Why can't you see? I mean, is it just down to laziness that they don't discipline their kids or is it just because they are really REALLY stupid people?

I TOTALLY agree with you on the "lazy" parents. I see things like that ALL the time. When my boys were young they were raised to be attetive to us and thus were well behaved...and they had...hmm, what's that word? Oh yeah....MANNERS! As well as respect. I think too often that parents forget that with children comes responsibilty and accountabilty. Lots of laziness in the world ::)
On your reply to mine, I have dial-up and do miss a thread here and there sometimes but I agree that's it's kinda silly to miss one that's not buried ::) ;)

I don't deal with AOL. I've had to deal with MSN several times this year, that's a big enough headache for a lifetime! The company I was (as in past tense) working for required I install MSN messenger! The first thing MSN IM did was unleash a host of savage viruses into my system! It cost me ninety dollars to get the whole system cleansed. And you know what? I'm the SCM*CK for not having the RIGHT anti-virus software, NOT MSN for making SH*TTY products!

That's odd.. I have MSN Messenger and it works just fine. Maybe it was weaknesses in your system, but i agree, that's not the point, MSN Shouldn't have a product that exploits any weakness.

I do agree with both of you. I don't mind a few B.S. threads and I have posted in some myself, but they have seem to be getting out of hand lately. The majority of threads on the PPP are nothing BUT B.S. threads. What also bothers me is that many people seem to "highjack" other threads and turn them into B.S. threads. I think there are enough B.S. threads that people don't need to post their B.S. in the ones that aren't.

That type of behavior drives me crazy! Especially in restaurants: people let their kids wander around so they don't get bored. Or they let the kids hang over the back of the booth seat staring at you. I can understand needing to keep kids occupied; bring small toys for the little ones, and paper & crayons for the older ones. AND TEACH THEM THAT NOT EVERYTHING WILL BE THE WAY THEY WANT IT! They need to learn to sit and behave. Do these people tolerate that at home during meals?  ???
Oh, another thing that REALLY annoys me are the people who ASK their kids to do something instead of TELLING them. Like it's an option to stop hitting or kicking their sibling. Or an option to sit down and behave. AAARRRGGGG!  >:(

I use AOL and am very satisfied with the service I have...To be honest,I personally have NEVER had problems with AOL customer service...but to each his own.

What gets me p*ssed off is when PARENTS DO NOT TEACH THEIR KIDS THAT TEASING,BULLYING AND BEING NASTY TO OTHERS IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!When I was a kid, if I even hinted at being nasty to someone...I was disciplined,even slapped in the face...Kids need to learn what comes around,goes around...parents can deal with nastiness by disciplining their kids...setting the example themselves by being at least CIVIL to others(even when you want to STRANGLE them!)...and praising their kids when they ARE polite to others. That raises a kid's self esteem.

I use AOL and am very satisfied with the service I have...To be honest,I personally have NEVER had problems with AOL customer service...but to each his own.
My friend Mike has AOL and it's fine for him as well. I just had a horrible year with them and then when I tried to leave they kept bugging me to rejoin...not to mention thier commercials are so stupid. It's cool that you're alright with them though and I hope you continue to have good luck ;)
