I don't know. The location I was thinking about was beautiful. They were standing on/walking across these beautiful flat stones. Like a big hill made of rocks.

I bet that was the limestone pavement above Malham in Yorkshire. I'll ask Dai if he recognised it.

the problem here is that snow is not guaranteed in winter so people forget how to drive in it (or never learnt to drive in bad weather).

But a book like this might catch her imagination and get her 'into' reading. Plus you can use the made up words to show her how phonics works. Not all words 'sound out' but they all follow phonics rules - you just have to choose the right rules!
Perhaps with her nook, we can try it... And that way I can read them as well

I am in camper with 3 girls - ages 3 - 8, while sister in law is helping hubby clean basement (they ended up tearing off all plaster, so as hubbins tore up the floor earlier, it all fell in to the basement between the cracks of the sub floor of the house). On a positive note, the dry wall is all up, but not sure when I get to paint... Next week is looking earliest (and I am sad, hoping I could do this, this weekend) so floor could go in and cupboards would go up...

I think asdys mom needs to get the book herself and present it with as much enthusiasm and energy as she can muster so addy can no longer resist it. Also, peer pressure is a great tool. Perhaps of addys mom asked everyone of addys friends if anyone read hp to them and how they liked it maybe addy would be more receptive to accepting hp as her savior. :D

Lol... That's another problem, addy's friends don't like hp either... they are much more into twilight... Than hp... Me, I am not really into either... But we might try, I got to get her to borrow the library book again...

sometimes they are very specific locations and sometimes they are very general. Like it might name a building/museum in a city or it will just say Los Angeles whatever. which is no help if you are trying to visit movie locations in a particular city

It comes from a German drinking call I believe. Mainly nowadays it appears in one or two Christmas songs/carols that I've only sung in the US!

They are on CD (i.e. audiobooks).
I have to say that I am really enjoying listening to them. I am going to get more audiobooks. I found a place that you can rent 2 CDs at a time-with unlimited amount for $15 a month-like Netflix but with audiobooks. This is great for me because I am such a slow reader and if I read for any length of time, my eyes start to really hurt. But I love books and would love to read more than I do. So, I'm getting hooked on audiobooks.

??? Wassailing was English tradition (from my grandparents at least (but there was some German influence in there as well)) of singing and drinking to the health of trees so that they might be abundant with fruit....
Wassail is a spiced/mulled punch/cider that is wonderfully warm and delicious... I also like hot buttered rum 8)

I know. There are many books that are in Public Domain that can be downloaded for free-books such as Treasure Island, Moby Dick, anything by Jane Austin, anything by Charles Dickens, etc. etc.

Alot of times I have to hit the flame bar(broiler?) with a wrench in order to get it to light up. My landlord will probably need to get me a newer oven.

It doesn't really keep anything cold in the bottom area(freezer part works just fine, I told the office today).

LOL... My youngest is that same way with Gremlins! We even have a stuffed magwai (it is spike actually) she chose from a surprise Santa who stopped at school.. She has had it since she was three and she loves it! She thinks deep down the gremlins are good, they just want to have fun and are misunderstood! If only they had a place to go that they could play all day without hurting anyone! Lol, my oldest HATES gremlins

This is a deluxe camper, most of the time it seems to frickin large... But the kids have their own room, a bunkhouse with 3 bunks in it, we have our own room at the front of camper, and it has a super slide out in the dining/living/kitchen area (and Tess the kitchen does have a stove, oven, microwave and fridge. It is about as big as a small efficiency apartment.

That was supposed to be this not Tess... And that was partly my point... It even has heat... Lol. And it is wired for a tv in each room. The restroom is not deluxe accommodations though.
