Good question. I think if you keep the money yourself and don't put it in the bank,and you have no other source of income that you would not have to file taxes. They should take your taxes out when you get your money if you do the cash option, if you take payments then you get taxed every year,but you are responsible after the first payment to pay your own taxes.
