Whenever the value of the Australian dollar falls ... and it's plunged in recent months .... they bring out the old argument 'but this make our exports attractive / cheaper, more competitive , to overseas buyers'.
Taken to the extreme, I doubt ANY of us would be taking overseas trips, with an Australian dollar worth ZERO pence / ZERO US cents (etc; ) (or buying .... being ABLE to buy any imports)

Fears that the UK would suffer a long and painful recession to match any of the three big downturns since the second world war helped push sterling to 1.1385 against the euro and prompted fears that further selling could result in the exchange rate falling to parity over the coming months.

Yup, it's me.
I have been in 2nd place for the longest time. A certain ex-member had passed me up in September 2004 (and beat me to 10,000 postings; this member was banned in October 2005 after achieving 44,612 posts)...and then Philip's surge in 2005 put him above me for good. I think it was in August 2005 when Philip passed me up.
And at the rate I'm going, I don't think I'll get to Philip's current post count until at least 2011.

Sometimes I do wake up during the middle of the night and find it hard to get back to sleep. Especially when I know I have to get up early in the morning.
This time I chose to get myself up at 7 this morning...mainly due to the fact that my parents had somewhere to go early this morning and will be gone all day. So I have the house to myself.
Pretty soon, however, I'm going to sign off and get some breakfast; right now it's a quarter to 8.

I have...but most of my works are either political (written in 2000-01, before the never-ending presidential election and after G.W. Bush became president), or serious (based on events in my personal life). I've only shared my political parodies with my family, and my "serious" parodies with my closest friends.

Sometimes, for beginners, it's good to try parodying a song that is lyrically short. Such as a traditional children's song.

Maybe Philip is one of those kids behind the fence in the "Double red" or "double blue" greatest hits that came out of early 70's..(or that 1 kid that somehow stood in front of the fence)

I wrote a small "60's Star Trek" script where the crew visit a planet which was attacked by a bunch of nomadic "Culture club" cover bands. I also wrote several bizarre National Enquirer type articles (published in the school newspaper). I have written 100 poems, some have been published in actual books.
I've written lots of other stuff, trying to get 2 books published at the moment. I enjoy writing as (I've been told) I have a very bizarre imagination.

Lyrics to "I am the Walrus"
Guess if there was a Penguin game thread "13 songs written while on drugs" this one would be on there
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly.
I'm crying.
Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come.
Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday.
Man, you been a naughty boy, you let your face grow long.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob.
Mister City Policeman sitting
Pretty little policemen in a row.
See how they fly like Lucy in the Sky, see how they run.
I'm crying, I'm crying.
I'm crying, I'm crying.
Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess,
Boy, you been a naughty girl you let your knickers down.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob.
Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun.
If the sun don't come, you get a tan
From standing in the English rain.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob.
Expert textpert choking smokers,
Don't you thing the joker laughs at you?
See how they smile like pigs in a sty,
See how they snied.
I'm crying.
Semolina pilchard, climbing up the Eiffel Tower.
Elementary penguin singing Hari Krishna.
Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob.
Goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob g'goo.

With over 3,500 of them, I might be able to travel from home to New York on a train (one way)...assuming one karma point equaled one mile. If not, then somewhere else in the Eastern Time Zone.

Tornado strikes central London
I was half-a-mile away from this, with hailstones, thunder and lightning directly above and very strong winds blowing.

Thankfully we have no tornados in California, but we actually did have a tornado warning once, a few years back.

Take the celsius figure, multiply by 9, divide by 5, and add 32 degrees.
Coerect. For example. 10 celsius is 50 fahrenheit.
Take 10, multiply it by 9, you get 90.
Then take 90, divide by 5, you get 18.
take 18, add 32 ---> equals 50.
10 celsius = 50 fahrenheit

So if I ever go there, I must be careful about the time of the year.
Two tornadoes I can recall happened in July or August in Birmingham (a week before a big cricket match) a few years back and my one in December, so they could happen all year round.
