I have known smokers who have said a similar thing to me. Nicotine is a very powerful drug.

I know there might be some ambiguity in that sentence, but I can think of numerous classic programs which have been shown in reruns over the years on various channels, it would be time consuming to try to list them all (there's so many of them).

Oh good. I wish it had been like that in our old neighborhood when our then-neighbors were blasting their stereos, but the management didn't seem to do much (if anything) about the situation at all.

did you call the manager and complain? did she live near them? did she wear hearing aids?


If she lived on the other side of the park she might not be aware of the problem unless people complain.
Typically people seem to think someone else will complain so they don't bother to make the call- if you didn't call and no one else called either then how can she fix a problem she's unaware of?  If you did make the call and she did nothing then you should've made a "nuisance" of yourself and called every time the music was loud...eventually she'd do something just to stop getting the phone calls.



We get complaints about loud noise all the time but when I ask the caller if they want to sign a complaint they say no. If people aren't willing to sign the complaint there's not much we can do...  are willing to do... we have drunk people to arrest. Domestic batters to book into jail. Theft reports to take. Rapists to find.... we are too busy to tell your neighbor to turn down the music if you aren't willing to help us out just a little.

If you did make the call and she did nothing then you should've made a "nuisance" of yourself and called every time the music was loud...eventually she'd do something just to stop getting the phone calls.

I'll usually sign any complaint regarding noise or other things. I've signed many petitions, wrote several times to our MP(equivalent of a US senator, I think)) and our prime minister on many occasions. (not for noise disturbances, but other issues)
Gotta get your voice heard if you want something done.
But yeah, noise disturbance is usually way down on the list after drug busts, B&E, murders, etc..Police are just too busy sometimes.

this makes it sound like you expected her to do regular rounds of the park or something- the super or manager of an apartment complex doesn't do rounds. there may be some maintainence issues they attend to thru out the bldg whether it be in an apt or on a floor so they may get around a bit... really her job- as I understand it is to make sure people pay their space fees and make sure the appearance of the park is kept up- she probably had landscapers so she didn't have to go out often....

you didn't specifically say you guys called to complain and if you didn't (and no one else did) then she still may not have been aware of the issue...
