The bus is certainly cheaper the Tube (subway) in London.

The bus is certainly cheaper the Tube (subway) in London.

And likewise, in L.A. the bus is cheaper to ride than the Red Line (subway). But if you have a monthly pass train ticket, you can ride either at no additional cost. (But then, the train ticket costs even more money.)

Cause I take public transportation,I would've called a cab but cabs run very slow on snowy nights.

Right...I certainly do.

We call them wagons here in NY, as well as shopping carts.  Baskets are those hand-held jammies that are waiting by the entrance to the store.  Hope that clears it up for you, nally.

for sure the baskets are the hand held things you carry thru the store when you're just getting a few items.

wagons is either an east coast term or (as I initially thought)  store jargon for carts...tho I used to collect carts and we never called 'em anything but shopping carts here in Cali.

fudge the rude guy who answered the phone for Pizza Hut.

In the car coming back from skiing, called the number for the Pizza Hut in the next town to ours.  We can drive past that one the way home much more easliy than the one in our town.  Ringing tone and then messages about being 6th in line, adverts, 4th caller in line etc... Anyway turns out that at busy times (or something) it links into some central system (but I didn't know that and the guy didn't explain it).  Asks for my number, I tell him I'm on my cell phone and the number is... then he asks pick up or delivery so I say pick up.  then he asks for my zip code (I wonder why because I'm driving to the place) tell him.  Then he tells me the Pizza Hut in my town is closed and I'll have to pick up from East Hartford.  And I say that I phoned the Manchester store and I want to pick up from there.  He repeats again about Glastonbury being closed and having to go to East Hartford.  And I repeat about wanting to go to Manchester and saying that that was why I called the Manchester number.  Then he hung up!

But we really wanted pizza so I called again (same number), get answered in two rings (but obviously straight through to the store this time), order my pizzas and they are ready when we get to the place 25 minutes later

Fudge the company calling today, they claimed to be 911 calling back (but my cell phone has a lock feature that prevents any buttons to be pushed) (besides I do not have 911 programmed into my phone so even if my some weird chance that the lock feature became disengaged, the likelihood of it dialling the exact number 911 is unlikely.)  I think it was a business seeing if I'd answer the phone (I usually don't).  But since we had a therapy appointment today, I answered the unknown number on caller I.D. just in case the appointment was cancelled.  I did notice that the lock feature was engaged when I took the phone off of recharge.

It's not so much that it COULD have been 911 calling (back?) but it was the attitude of the caller, I apologized and said "I'm sorry I did not call 911."  The person then sneered "SURE you didn't!"  sarcastically, then paused and said "Do you have any llittle fingers?" (meaning small children that might play with my phone."  I then explained about the lock feature on the cell phone and that just a moment before that it was charging.

To make a long story short (too late) I smite the caller if indeed he wasn't 911 calling back, which I really don't think he was.  It was just a weird call and probably illegal if it was to verify that it was a real cell number.

Just to say... that we get butt dials all the time and always have to call them back on the off chance there was a real emergency... 99% of the time people swear they didn't call 911 but.... I wouldn't have been able to call them back if they hadn't called cuz their number popped up onto my computer screen.

Some phones have a feature that when locked allow you to make emergency calls. Its like if you press/hold the send or dial long enough (or whatever button it is for your phone) its pre-programmed to dial 911  so I smite the cell phone companies cuz this feature is more of an annoyance than it is a safety feature.  :P

hmmm...I didn't know that even with the lock on and if you press send long enough that it would call 911... oh dear.  Well, I apologize then to the 911 people and retract my fudge for my breast call.  (The phone was in my jacket breast pocket.)  Butt call?  I wonder if that is similar to a booty call.  ;) ;D

That's crazy....call em and complain about that too  maybe you'll get two pizzas!  ;D

Doubt it.  I complained about KFC on the survey so badly they transfered me to the company site to let them know of my problems and got nothing.  The same company owns both...at least I assume they do.  At one point the store I complained about was KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco bell.

no worries Patty...no one seems to know about this feature...but I promise you 911 dispatchers are not dialing random numbers to tell you you've dialed 911... personally we'd rather you not call makes life much simpler if no one dialed 911  ;)

ah, see, the surveys never work. you have to dial the customer service line directly or write a letter to the main office (or call the store and ask for contact info for their district manager) trust me this works every time... I only use it when I 'm really upset but I've gotten more free meals than you can imagine

I disagree with the cell phone law.  I don't think having a conversation on the cell is any more distracting than conversing with someone sitting in the passenger seat... I think the driver needs to be aware that the main concetration should be on the road but that's always the case... if you can't prioritze then don't use the phone but if you are capable then talk away...

I don't think people should text and drive tho.

It's one thing if they can do that; it's another if the phone poses a distraction. After all, most people (especially me) need both hands to control the car, and they can't easily do that if one hand is holding an electronic device such as a phone or a PDA.

I'm convinced the whole hands free thing and making talking on the cells illegal was lobbied by the companies that manufacture those devices... I have had 4. they keep getting lost and then, because its the law, you have to go out and buy a new one... about 200 bucks later I decided it was cheaper for me to just pay the fine if I get caught.  ::)

No, I don't think they'd go that far. They would probably have a word with him, and tell him that others have been displeased about his lack of doing his job, and that if he continues to slack off, he could be terminated from the position and have someone else take his place.

I disagree.  Howard needs to mind his own business and concentrate on his own duties.

Howard's co-workers need to be more dilligent about cleaning up after they use the breakroom

and

Howard needs to know that Moises may not be responsible for the breakroom perhaps one of the other maintenance guys cleans it at night because with most employees working during the day it could be hazardous to mop it at the busiest times of the day...

Also Howard emptying the mop bucket and mopping on his own means Howard wasn't outside collecting carts... Perhaps Moises is one some other message board fudging that cart guy who doesn't get the carts fast enough  :P
