On the webcam, the buildings in the background are residential buildings, but there are buildings round to the left that have offices in them.

Your mother should know?

Unless that's yet another Beatles lyric that I don't know (wouldn't surprise me), I'll answer the question as it is stated.

She probably would know Eleanor Rigby, although she was not really a big Beatles fan.  I don't know, really, what she was into back in the day.  I know she liked one of the Beatles contemporaries, Gary and the Pacemakers, as that came to be my mom and dad's "song" (Don't let the sun catch you crying).  Come to think of it, she might not have even been "into" music so much.

Oddly enough, I didn't really get into the Beatles until that movie that was made using their songs, starring the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton was in the theaters (it was one of the first movies I recall seeing).

Sorry for babbling on about stuff you are probably not remotely interested in.  Especially since "Your mother should know" was probably a Beatles lyric anyway.   ;D

Edit to add: I looked it up, and indeed it was a Beatles lyric as I first suspected.  Sorry for making you read all that ^  ;D

Beatles number plate has hidden message

Peter Gent from St Albans in Hertfordshire came across a very famous car standing in a car showroom forecourt one day. The car was the white VW Beetle featured on arguably the most famous Beatles album cover, Abbey Road.

Peter promptly bought it, realising that the car salesman had no idea of the history of the car or the plate. The car became famous largely because of its number plate LMW 281F. A 'Paul is dead' rumour began on an American radio station with the letters LMW taken as standing for 'Linda McCartney, widow', whilst 28 IF was widely regarded as a 'clue' that Paul McCartney would have been 28 'IF' he had lived. The fact that McCartney was 27 when Abbey Road was released was conveniently ignored.

"I sold the number plate at a Sotheby's acution in 1986 for £2,300. It went to America but is now reportedly at the VW factory in Germany. I was hoping to get more for it at the time, but there were only two people bidding. I should have kept it really, but I didn't realise that their popularity would grow again. It would have been great publicity for my guitar shop 'The Music Dept.'"

I love that song. used to have it on 45rpm, but I lost all my old vinyl back in the late 70's, no idea what happened to them.
My sister has the album, which still has the photos and book with it.

I sold all my Beatles albums a few years back, have them all on CD now. They were badly scratched all well, surviving parties in the 70's and early 80's.

The reason for the heavy traffic on the road is that, the Finchley Road (A41) at St John's Wood, both ways at Grove End Road jhas temporary traffic lights on Finchley Road both ways at the Grove End Road junction in St John's Wood, and wtach we can see is the queueing traffic on an adjaciant road.

I watch this every once in awhile.  It's cool when you watch 2 double deckers heading toward each other.  Refresh, refresh, then it looks like they're going to crash before they actually pass each other.  I'm easily amused.  :D

What are the squigly lines on the street for?
Was the driver of the line spraying truck drunk that day?  :D
When people drive along these lines, do they have to follow them they way they are drawn? :o
Wouldn't that cause a lot of accidents?  :o

These are lines to indicate the car drivers of the existence of the (or any) crossing (as if they did not know it was there) and to be kept clear of all times. In other words no parking on this stretch of road.

Thanks Philip!  It makes sense! Here we have "No Parking This Side of Street at Any Time" signs, but most people ignore them.  Too many signs on the side of the road just makes it too cluttered to pay any attention to, so that's a smart way to do it!  And you know, it works well for the webcam too, with this, cars are not constantly blocking our view of the street.  ;)

I'm sure that specific spot must get lots of tourists-I would think there would be lots of people wanting to recreate the Abbey Road album cover and just walk across it for fun.  I know if I ever went to London that would be one of my must do's. Seeing anything to do with the Beatles would be!

After a while, you start to smile, now you feel cool
Then you decide to take a walk by the old school
Nothing has changed, it's still the same.
I've got nothing to say, and it's OK
