I have been to Chicago only once, but not that section of it. Also, I am familiar with a community called Winnetka, namely one in California.

Winnetka, California, on the other hand is much closer to Los Angeles; in fact, it is part of Los Angeles itself!

I watched that show a lot too; apparently that house is located at 251 North Bristol Avenue in Brentwood. I have been near there, but it seems that area has changed a lot since the 90's. Google Street View shows lots of trees and plants around the front gate of that home.

It depends how far out you go. I have never swum in the ocean; in fact, I haven't done much in the way of swimming at all in my life. I learned how a few times when I was growing up, but as a little boy I was deathly afraid to go underwater.

Original Bat Cave
The Bronson caves in Griffith Park are man-made, and were probably created back around 1900, when the area was a rock quarry. (Some say the caves themselves were created especially for the 1922 version of "Robin Hood" with Douglas Fairbanks.) But whatever their origin, they have since been used in countless movies and TV series. They were seen as the 'Bat Cave' in the classic "Batman" TV series, as well as in "Bonanza," "Star Trek: Voyager," "Fantasy Island," "Little House on the Prairie," "The Lone Ranger," "Gunsmoke" and the "Wild Wild West". Plus feature films such as 2002's "The Scorpion King," "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," "Lost Horizon" and the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

The last time I was in a swimming pool, was on July 4, 2000, at a friend's house. I would like to take swim lessons again at some point, but I have not had an opportunity. (Actually, my current next-door neighbors have a pool in their backyard; I wonder if I could join them sometime this summer.)
When I was growing up, I lived in a mobile home park, with a recreation area that had a swimming pool; and my paternal grandparents lived in a house that had a swimming pool in a backyard. And when we went to stay at hotels, we'd check out the pools.

There is no chance of one of my neighbours having a swimming, but the local council does run several public swimming pools in my area, but you can guess the fear of public swimming pools.

that's good. I'm not much for crowds either. I live only a few miles from a beach that never gets crowded; it's nice. The only crowded beach I ever went to was in Corona Del Mar (in Orange County) in 1997 on the day after my birthday. Certainly there were more people than I was accustomed to seeing on a beach, but we found a space and it was just fine; we made the most of our time there on that day.

Probably the 20th Anniversary Edition, which is slightly altered from the original version. For example, there are a couple of previously deleted scenes, and in the scene where two authorities are holding long guns, those were digitally replaced with walkie talkies.

My son grew up with a Speak & Spell macjine. Did you ever have the Speak & Maths machine?
Yep, I had a Speak & Math machine, too, and a Speak & Read. A lot of fun stuff. :)

The Speak & Math sounds like it was fun. I probably would've enjoyed it if I'd had one...since I've always had a passion for math.

Yeah, I enjoyed my Computron. I still have it safely packed away in a storage box. I received it for Christmas in '85 from my maternal grandma.
Around the same time I had an Alphie II, which was an educational toy that looked like a robot; it was produced by Playskool in the mid-80's. Its aim was to help children learn math and spelling skills, as well as matching. Here's what it looked like:

I said in a previous post of mine that the Computron was produced by Sears in 1985 (which I thought was true)...but a link I saw on Ebay says that it might've actually been released in 1980. I only know that I got mine in 1985. Maybe I can check the owner's manual for the copyright date; I'll go with whatever that listing is.

The URL for the above link was pretty long; I hope it works. There is a picture of the machine near the top of that page.

That often seems to be what happens.
Sometimes I keep the original packaging, either for storage of the item, or reusing it for something else. Often times the original box does have important information on it.

I hear ya. For roughly half my life, I've been bothered by loud noises. (And I ain't just talking about when people blast their stereos and can't keep their music confined to the privacy of their own home or car.) When I took a health class in high school, we all had to prepare an oral report on a certain topic at the end of the semester, and we were given a list of possible topics. We had three months to prepare it. So I chose to do my report on hearing problems, since that was an issue that sparked my curiosity. And I did a great job preparing my report, and presenting it.
About helium balloons, I always HIW they pop too. That's the one thing I detest about them. (I know that letting go of one will cause it to rise, and when done outdoors it can go very high in the air...but that's not as bad as just popping it.)

Those iPod earphones can sure be loud....I was standing next to a guy at the Post Office a few years ago and he must've had his iPod on full blast, because I'm sure everyone there could hear the music blaring from his earphones.
I don't like to have the volume on very loud, whether on my iPod or Sony Walkman CD player, so it won't ruin my hearing and won't disrupt others around me.

Yeah...I think the purpose of having headphones for a portable listening system (like a Walkman or whatever) is so that only the listener can hear it.
I don't like to have the volume on very loud, whether on my iPod or Sony Walkman CD player, so it won't ruin my hearing and won't disrupt others around me.
