There was that big humongous storm in September 2010 that caused heavy rains, sidewalks to rip apart and trees blown off.

I think I heard about that on the national news.

Sounds terrible, London did have a tornado a few years back and it caused structural damage.

I think I did mention it on the boards when it happened.

Yes you did. I'm glad you were ok.

It was nerve racking at the time.

I bet it was.

I never have tornados where I live, but I can remember one time when we did have a tornado watch. This was in January 2005, when we had those powerful thunderstorms, which even caused a mudslide in La Conchita, a small community some 20 miles northwest of where I live.

Like I said, there was a tornado watch (kinda like a warning), but no actual tornados, thankfully. Just lots of heavy rain and flooding.

Yes, we have heavy rain and flooding in various parts of the UK, but thankfully not as bad as other areas of the world.

Rain will only turn the snow into slush, and make matters worse, especially if it ices over.

I think I forgot how to rollerskate.

It's been 14 years since I last did it. I suppose I could re-teach myself.

I just know that the first time I went rollerskating, which was in '89 to a friend's birthday party, I barely knew how at all. So another friend (who happened to be there, too) taught me how, and was there in case I fell over.

I agree; I still see roller rinks (including one just a few miles up the road from where I live, as well as one near the university I attended); maybe they're not as popular as they used to be.

Also, now that I think about it, there is an ice rink (or maybe there once was; not sure if it went bye bye yet) near my home, but it is in a part of town that has not been doing much business lately. And when I was little, there was once an ice rink at a shopping mall (which is now obsolete), but it's no longer there. So I have never been on an ice rink.

Yes; I feel the same way. Testing your strength is one thing, but you shouldn't have to fight another person to show it.

Yes, good point.

One time when I was in summer day camp, fencing was one of the activities we did, but I often chose to sit out because back then (I was about 9 years old) I thought it was violent, in a sense, and I did not want to risk being poked with the sword...even in the protective suits we wore. But that was a long time ago.

If the sword is used the right way, then one would not get poked. But as a kid at summer day camp I was often afraid that I would, which is why I often refused to partake.

Yes it is; but sometimes it can get frustrating when you can't quite get the ball into the hole and have to use multiple strokes to get it in there. Still, I would like to play again at some point.
