I have a Gameboy and 22 years later it still works but it has some flaws.
My old Gameboy tore up, the upper part of the screen is fried. But my Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS work fine.

I have never played on a Gameboy, is the screen that small to view for detailed items?

Yes, but moving the pacman around would probably be a bit tougher, since you'd probably have to do it with the keyboard...which is not as easy as with a joystick. That might give the ghosties the upper hand.
I've had mine almost 20 years. (In fact, next summer it'll be 20 years.) But I haven't played with it in the last 10; I'm pretty sure it still works fine.
With the pacman online you would need to use your keyboard.

I know, you have to use your arrow keys (or something like that) and it's not as effective as with a joystick.

Well it is kinda small in a sense, but the pixels are all only one color.

In the game of Tetris, the pieces would be kinda small, but each block is composed of four unit squares. That was the first game I ever played on the Game Boy.

I knew it was in the late 80's when they made their debut. I got mine a couple years later, as a birthday present.
I should go retrieve my almost-20-year-old one, pop some new batteries into it and see if it still works. Preferably on a day when I have nothing else to do. :D

I never had any desire to own any of those systems. I was happy with my regular Gameboy (and still am), and by the time the advanced versions came out (with color and stuff), I had other interests. But I think I had a friend who owned one.

Since the mid-1970's? I did not know that. I knew Atari was around for a very long time; just didn't know how long.
That's about as long as the game show "Family Feud" has been around. Last night I was watching the newest version of the show, with host Steve Harvey, and during one commercial break, there was a promo indicating that the Family Feud has been around almost 40 years. That's not quite right, though; the show was created in 1976 by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman, and premiered on network television that same year with host Richard Dawson. So it won't be 40 years old until 2016.

Interesting. I do not have any cards from the late 1990's. Most of the ones I have are Topps from the late 80's and early 90's. In fact, I have complete sets of every set from 1987 through 1993 Topps, except for 1992 (I still need 15 specific cards to complete that set). I also have a complete set of 2006 Topps.

I love the complete box sets. I was able to get three of my complete sets in those long boxes... namely the 1989, 1993, and 2006 sets. The 1989 set was kinda special because I had gotten it on my birthday that year (in July), and for Christmas that year I got an album in which to place all 792 of those cards. And I'd spent most of the day on Christmas Day placing 'em in the album (that's right; 21 years ago today). http://www.inthe00s.com/Smileys/santa/cool.gif

I like to put 'em all in the album, that way they all stay protected. Personally I think they're safer in the plastic-sleeved pages, that way you can look at them anytime without having to handle them directly.
The only ones I don't put into albums, are any duplicates I may have. Over the years when I was buying cards in packs, I often accumulated lots of duplicates... so I have a special place for those. I save those until I have an opportunity to give them away, like to another person. However, if I get a duplicate of a more valuable player, like Nolan Ryan, I like to save it and put it in a little plastic sleeve, to protect it and hopefully increase the value of it over time. I think the most expensive card I have right now is Derek Jeter's rookie card, 1993 Topps #98.

I think his de facto rookie card might be 1985 Topps #401, which depicts him as a member of Team USA (since the previous year, 1984, featured Summer Olympics in the Los Angeles area); I don't have that one. The last time I checked the price of that card (around 2002 or 03), it was probably the most expensive in the set; pretty close in value to Roger Clemens.
However, the card that I like to believe is McGwire's rookie card (because it contains the stats for 1986, his rookie season), is 1987 Topps #366, which I do have. I also have a duplicate of it, which I'm saving in a plastic sleeve; all my dupes are inside a box.

By the way...last night I put some new batteries in my Gameboy, and it still works like a charm! I played the Tetris game a few times and got as far as level 18. By that point, the blocks are falling down super-quickly and you can't really maneuver them to place them where you want....unless you have ample experience up there!

Weaker batteries can slow down anything. That is, they can hurt the performance of whatever appliance they're in.

I know you took the batteries out of the TV remote?
The TV remote gets used every day, so naturally the batteries would wear out quicker in that. In a few weeks' time, they would probably need replacement.

By the way...last night I put some new batteries in my Gameboy, and it still works like a charm! I played the Tetris game a few times and got as far as level 18. By that point, the blocks are falling down super-quickly and you can't really maneuver them to place them where you want....unless you have ample experience up there!
Have you got other games?

Weaker batteries can slow down anything. That is, they can hurt the performance of whatever appliance they're in.
always use fresh batteries.

I know the movie was.
The video game for Gameboy, does get challenging on the later levels. But I recently watched a 5-part series on Youtube that illustrates the best way to clear each level, by a pro at the game.

The complete playthrough can be found right here. Like I said, it's a 5-part series; might take close to an hour to watch the whole thing. The guy who is playing it, gives very entertaining commentary as he goes through each stage.

Yes, if you need to play some levels/stages over again, for improvement. That guy on Youtube probably did something like that. I guess the same goes for any video game; certain stages are tougher than others and it's best to go through them until you master them.
I played Dr. Mario on my Gameboy yesterday and was able to clear level 20, after which a "melody" played, and then I moved on to level 21 (which starts out with the same number of viruses as level 20), but then had to turn it off because my eyes were getting tired.

The last one of those voiceover clips, "I've fallen and I can't get up!", had become a popular catchphrase about 20 years ago or so, from a TV commercial.

could crash the boards.
Maybe... but it hasn't been that big of a problem in years past. The "most users online" statistic is 292, which has stood since March of 2006; I doubt that it's gonna get that big again anytime soon (but ya never know). However, if it gets too big, then a server crash could be feared.

That's right; we didn't have lots of technological advances just yet.
Now we use wireless connections at home. The first time I heard about wireless internet, I was confused and couldn't understand how that could work (this was about five years ago, when a friend of mine used such a connection with her laptop). But now I know that there are certain requirements for that.

You have to be careful also because record companies sometimes inflate/lie about album/single sales to promote the artist and/or make the artist look better so that more people will buy the artist's record.
